#PVP Matchmaking

There's a baseline gear expectation to play PVP without getting hopelessly statchecked by your opponent. If you don't meet the gear expectation, regardless the player level you will lose due to the stat difference.

It's not hard to get the gear sets needed to play the game semi-competitively, but it's not as though you can just jump into PVP and expect to win without putting in some work to mitigate the resource gap.

There are already systems in place for matchmaking with gaps. If the PVP rating difference is too large, you gain 45 on win and lose 5 on loss. This means you can climb with something as bad as a 10~20% winrate.

If you are struggling in plat, just remember that the people in plat are there for a reason, and once you gear your characters properly and build a functional team on a good week it should be no effort at all to climb.

Matchmaking by level doesn't work because it implies that players all care about PVP/ the game and they all spend equal time, but it's very common to find fairly low rated players with level 100+ accounts because they just play for fun.

@analog creek this is a grinding game.
baseline gear is 100% fulfilled for those who played for a very long time, and if you play for a long time your account level is increased.
its harder for lower level accs to play pvp.
my past 30 matches, there's only 1 match that i ever get to fight someone at my level (level 50-60).
most of the time im fighting level 100+ as you can see from the image below.

#

And while it is true that reward system is applied (if im fighting higher ranked player, the point reduction will be reduced and i will gain more points if i win). I still think that being able to select or specify the matchmaking settings is a good thing to be added.

#

It might be pointless too actually but it's worth the try i guess. Just a suggestion.

#

And i don't think people care too much about this since when i started playing, im not expecting a pvp system and just expecting some pve grinding. but when i found there's a pvp system, im actually happy to try and play it and it was fun too. if this is a full skill-based game i wouldn't have issue fighting someone higher ranked / higher level acc but the fact that it's not is disturbing me a little.

Maybe i just need to cope and gitgud HildGibBullet

This is normal of any gacha game with a PVP system. There will be a resource gap that naturally comes from the fact your progression is tied to eternium, and older players will naturally have more than newer ones.

While it would be nice to do matchmaking with some level consideration in mind, the game just doesn't have the population to sustain this. CP is already loosely accounted for in matchmaking, but like I said there's like a baseline gear expectation before you can actually start to properly play PVP without getting statchecked.

For what it's worth, levels don't really make a difference past like 80. Your power level will plateau around there. Generally speaking, all the comps in C1 are going to be 200k CP rating +- a few thousand. If you're smart with your planning you can get the basics done and it's just leveling niche characters/ collecting gear sets from there.

You know what, PVP without gear / automatically fully upgraded sounds nice.
That way everyone can enjoy.

Since the only thing that differs between high level acc and lower level acc is probably the gear.
That way, PVP can be a much more skill-based instead of gear-diffed.
