#Suggestion 1155

Could also try to reach a compromise with BSide, where X% of the Prestige Skin AC of the current season is transferred over to the next season.
Example with 50%: 10000 AC in current season -> 5000 AC next season after the current season ends.
Of course, Sigma would try to convince them to give us the best percentage for us right? Like 100% transfers over. c:
I find it hard to think of a reference to any other games within my knowledge that has the mentioned suggestion as I feel that the Prestige event is a fairly unique aspect of CounterSide that I have not seen in many games.
However I have seen similar concepts with different things such as:
Login accumulation that only resets if you reach a certain number of days
VIP Points Accumulation that resets and level you up when you reach a certain point (Games with VIP systems)
Though I firmly believe the main benefits of the mentioned suggestion is that it doesn't discouraged spenders who are close to reaching the 80,000 AC mark but the Prestige event reset is just around the corner and then they have to start all over again.
League of Legends has a "Mythic Essence" store system that is obtained from an RNG that is used to redeem prestige skins with a certain rotation, you could instead of giving the skin when you reach 80k admin coin, give a certain "currency" of exchange for a store where the skin could be obtained, and if they see the opportunity to rotate the skins from that store
It could work like this: the skin would cost 4 "Coins" to buy and you would get them for every 20K consumed, this would give you some "CheckPoints"
It doesn't have to be in this exact parameter, but it's a little more flexible for players who aren't going to consume 80K ADM coins in 180 days
they will have to wait maybe 1 whole year for the skin from that moment to return, but they can buy another one if they wish
"VIP ADM COIN" or something like that
Punishing: Gray Raven has a long-term set of cumulative milestones for purchasing Rainbow Cards (the paid currency). These milestone rewards are permanent and don't ever change, nor do they have a time-sensitive restriction. Furthermore, it existed in their game since launch; it didn't even have a battlepass system until almost two years after launch.
While this reward system merely requires the purchase of Rainbow Cards, the design intent is still the same: to encourage players to keep investing money into the game over a long period of time. And the Rainbow Cards are theirs to spend how ever they want.
The milestone rewards are mostly made up of free things that players can already obtain through more direct means, like a skin that can be purchased in the shop directly by far cheaper means. However, the final reward is an exclusive player Portrait for your profile. It's not even an exclusive skin, but direct purchase would put it at over $1600 (there are obviously some limited time Rainbow Card deals that can reduce this).
I would also like to point out that Punishing: Gray Raven attempted something much more similar to Counter:Side's Prestige skin system in the past, where players had to actually spend the currency to get two skins and other exclusive rewards. However, the developers have not done another one of those ever since and it's been over 1.5 years.
My suggestions for Counter:Side's prestige system:
- Make the milestone rewards permanent, and convert the ladder system to use "laps" or a series of ladders. Whenever players complete one ladder, they start back at the top with a new ladder, creating a endlessly progressive reward system.
- Like Darkstorming said above, make the prestige skin reward into a token currency that can choose any of the skins. This will eliminate the negative feelings due to missing a deadline, and it will instead convert the system into a celebration of commitment and contribution to the game's success.
If a carry-over is implemented, it should not automatically claim the current skin, because if I am not interested in the current skin, I would have to avoid spending any AC at all so I can keep my points for the next one. A selector would be amazing.
A simple system could be a track with a milestone at every 80k points that rewards a selector. When you add a new skin, you just raise the maximum and add another milestone. The reason for the maximum is to prevent farming the next selector in advance, while still preserving points if the player is half-way there.
E.g. when you add
prestige skin next season, add the 240000 milestone with the 3rd selector.
This way, even a new player could claim all 3 skins if they wanted to.
However, since this is a "total spent", it needs to account for players who already have skins. (e.g. someone with Jia and Regina skins should start at 160k without the possibility to claim the first 2 selectors).
I agree with Kirin's idea about continuously raising the cap. Players like to see numbers get bigger.
Until you reach 9 223 372 036 854 775 807 (the 64 bit integer limit), where the game crashes.
That's not a realistic problem, and the game wouldn't crash from that.
So with the recent...troubles...that SEA server is experiencing in regards to the current Prestige Skin system. I think it's a good time to revisit this topic. Previously, I gave an example of Punishing Gray Raven as a game with a similar system, except one that is permanent. Well it turns out that they expanded upon that success in the past 7 or so months. In fact they tripled the original rewards plan form 10,000 to 30,000. Everything form before is still the same, except now there are additional rewards up to 30,000 paid currency:
