#Pistons DISPLACE fluids as opposed to pushing them

in Flowing Fluids, pistons can only push fluids. what i mean is that i personally think that pistons should be able to push fluids out of a block. Basically, if you have a piston push a fluid block and it's surrounded on all sides apart from say the top block, the fluid will be displaced upwards as if a player placed a block there. this would make some new pumps possible, and overall would be very nice.

huh?

#

isnt that basically what happens already?

#

if you arent getting enough water going up you probably just need more coming into the pump in the first place

no so basically if you have a piston facing water and then obsician brhind it, the piston will do nothing. it treats water as a physical block and cannot displace it. it would actually probably be possible to do something similar with sand which would be interesting... but no pistons do not displace water. it's possible that updates are only for newer versions currently and if so i missed that and that might be a feature for newer versions, but in 1.20.1 this is what i've experienced.

okay i understand

maybe eventually

#

for now jsut make sure there is space for the fluid to move into

#

doing it this way keeps maximum compatibility with modded pistons i hope
