#Black Screen After Opening Credits

Hi, I'm coming from a steam discussion post where after the Mooneye logo comes up the screen goes black right after, I can hear the menu music but am unable to interact with anything. It worked find before and I was able to play the game perfectly fine until this started happening. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game and it hasn't done anything to resolve the issue. I'm having some trouble locating my save file in my system which may be in part to my having to do a full reinstall of my windows system due to some of my drivers being corrupted.

I'm using the most recent version on steam and running Windows 11

paste this in the search bar once you get to your User: \AppData\LocalLow\SomeHumbleOnion\Smushi Come Home

Thank you so much for sending these over! Looks like there were some corrupt save files but I'll get those restored real quick. Also, could you send me the 'Achievements' and 'SmushiSettings' file as well? Those are found in that same folder and are likely corrupt as well so I'll just need to fix those too salute

Alright looks like the saves are good now :3 So what you'll need to do next is:

  1. Delete all the files in that folder where you found those save files.
  2. Download these new ones, and drag them into that folder.
  3. Open your steam Library and right click on Smushi Come Home
  4. Click on Properties and Unceck the option for "Steam Cloud" (See screenshot below)

And here are all the fixed save files! They're basically the saves from your backups, so you'll be a few steps behind from where you were before you last played but not very far

So i did everything, but the start up screen is still black after the mooneye logo :/, i deleted all files in that folder, put in the new ones, and unchecked the steam cloud option, but still no dice.

hmmm that's strange.. I wonder if it was the Settings file again. I should've just had you delete those instead of adding the new ones in, sorry about that!

try deleting the SmushiSettings and Achievements files in that same folder, then boot the game up to see if it gives you the black screen. Usually this issue is caused by that file being corrupt (which it was) so I think we just need to have it deleted completely. The game will create you a fresh new achievements and settings file when you start the game up (your achievements will come back too once you start your save)

Hopefully this fixes it! If not I'll double check your log files and that'll tell me exactly what's going on. But im 99% sure this is it
