#No sound. No audio at all.
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I checked my sound settings in windows and the game isn't muted
right now I'm installing a different game that uses fmod to make sure it's not a problem on my end
I'm on Windows 10 Home Version 22H2
CPU: Ryzen 5800X GPU: 4070ti
I tried a few other games that use fmod and they had sound
only Smushi Come Home has no sound
game version 1.0.9
Also I can't change the resolution back to 1440p
I changed it to 1080p and then quit the game and I can't change it back
says fmod initialization failed
Hey, thanks for reporting this issue! The dev will get back to you to help you out.
Thank you so much for reporting this! It looks like this is a bug with the FMOD version we're using, potentially with your audio driver. So it's super specific, but I found a potential solution online that we can try and hopefully it fixes it! All you'll need to do is disable exclusive mode on your audio output device.
You can disable exclusive mode by following these steps:
-
Right-click the Speaker icon on the Windows toolbar, and select Open Sound settings.
-
Click Device properties located underneath Choose your output device, then click Additional device properties located underneath Related Settings.
-
In the Line Properties window, click the Advanced tab, then uncheck Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.
-
Click Apply, then click OK.
Again really sorry this is happening on your end :(( This is the first time I've heard of such an issue but I can see in the logs that FMOD is failing to initialize for some reason, and defaults to "NO SOUND" mode. Apparently this issue was fixed for another developer by disabling exclusive mode so hopefully that works for you but if not let me know and I'll open a support ticket with FMOD to see if they can help! (and if that's the case hopefully you're able to refund the game still on Steam <3)
In regards to this issue, you might need to clear the settings data on your end to get the 1440p back. You can do this by going to the same folder where you found the player.log file. But there you'll see another file called "SmushiSettings.save". Simply delete that file, reboot the game and it should be good to go
I went into the settings you mentioned and saw an audio device there I didn't know I had. apparently the game was trying to output audio through my monitor, which doesn't have speakers. I disabled that audio device and now the game has audio
the game is still in 1080p even if I delete the save files though
But at least the sound issue is fixed, I'm really happy to be able to play it now
ohhh gotcha! Glad you were able to fix that, very weird that it was trying to output to your monitor
that's strange that the resolution isn't reverting to 1440p even after you deleted the SmushiSettings.save file
I'll have to test that out on my end and see if I can fix it in the next patch. Sorry about that! Hope you're still able to enjoy the game in 1080p and thanks again for reporting these bugs!
