it depends on the situation. transport belts move at 30 items/min, so if you had an output of only 30 items/min, then your splitter would split that into 15/15 and the two belts would also distribute it in 15/15. however, if you had a situation where 60 items/min was coming out of a machine, eg. buckflower --> 2 buckflower powder in a shredder, the splitter will only split 30 items/min into 15/15 since the belt going into the splitter can only hold 30 items/min. on the other hand 2 belts would distribute the total output (60 item/min) into 30/30, so depending on the output amount, but generally almost every machine other than shredders will only produce one output

e.g. heat infliction then nature infliction will consume them both to cause corrosion

same for cryo and solidification
electric and electrification
heat and combustion

most teams will bypass the requirement for a reaction by instead force applying it (e.g. laevatein enhanced skill force applies combustion)

for the same reason a lot of teams dont want other element inflictions, because they care about inflictions not reactions

this is why gilberta tends to brick other teams because she causes reactions on her abilities, while ardelia does not apply nature infliction and so doesnt have the same issues
