So Im getting back into playing geometry dash and since i cant play it on my chromebook, im instead playing on my phone. (It aint the best, but I did beat verity on the train yesterday :p) Because of this, i figured id try to get geode for some QoL mods thatll make practicing eaiser, but the installation process is kind of a lot. The main thing i need to get geode is as mentioned, sidestore via iLoader. This issue isnt that im having trouble getting it to work, but that I cant get it to work properly. I managed to download the app and run it, but once I put my apple account details into it, my terminal (just making sure its clear, im using a chromebook) keeps saying that usbmuxd isnt installed even though I gave my terimal access to my phone and usbmuxd is on its most recent version and I have no idea what else to do.

do usbmuxd -fv in another shell and check logs
Compile
specify pls?
From the repo
Compile from source
alright
k yeah imma be so honest im completely lost :/
this is why i shouldnt be using linux nor chromeos 😭
On what
what to compile

Says it there
ok lemee look at it again and see how stupid i might be
If you can’t find the package, then compile it
wait so i get the package from here?
or somewhere from the github page directly
ok so i just checked he bottom of that page that i js sent a ss of and ran this:
sudo apt-get install usbmuxd libimobiledevice6 libimobiledevice-utils
idk if thats significant or anything but js lyk if it does do smth
also js got this file
@mystic vortex ok i looked through the page for a little, took a break, looked again, and ion see any package besides the file I sent here eariler
Do you not see this
yeah but the first command didnt work
thats the first thing i did when i went to the site
Well yeah, because you need to compile the dep
So you do the same on here
And if there are any other deps to compile, you compile them
Simple stuff
Unable to locate
So compile the dep
Go to the dep’s repo
And follow build instructions
the repo link js sent back to the top of the page
???
This is for libimobiledevice-glue, do you really not see the command to install dependencies for compilation
the command at the top is the first thing I saw and run
*ran
i ran it just a second ago in the ss i sent u of my terminal
i see
wait a second
the file that i sent
wait actually nvm
stupid though
*thought
k im running this now:
sudo apt-get install
build-essential
pkg-config
checkinstall
git
autoconf
automake
libtool-bin
libplist-dev
k its done
whas next
Read the whole thing
k
Wait can you help real quick I’m trying to get SideStore for a friend but it keeps shutting
so i ran ./configure --prefix=/susbluegamer/local and the last few lines say
configure: error: Package requirements (libplist-2.0 >= 2.3.0) were not met:
Package dependency requirement 'libplist-2.0 >= 2.3.0' could not be satisfied.
Package 'libplist-2.0' has version '2.2.0', required version is '>= 2.3.0'
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Me ?
Make your own post instead of going into someone’s else’s post
I guess
yeah ngl atp i think im done ive been at it since abt 12
chill bro not everyone is as tech literate as us
he just trynna sideload
I said it here
he chose one of the hardest devices to really sideload on considering you compile a ton of stuff from source
procur compiling stuff like this from source is challenging, i’d argue it’s prob the hardest thing you can really do regarding software on any operating system
real and to a person who many never compiled before they gonna have a hard time knowing whats going on fr
they did compile like they stated meaning they know how, just that didn’t want to compile the dep of that dep
you're one to talk 😭
tbh all of us have no patience
you cannot compare updating to betas vs compiling stuff from source😭😭
why not 😭
my impatience with that is solely due to the fact that we see the same complaints and it’s like, clearly stated almost on every tutorial that you should prepare in case something breaks
compiling from source is a very grueling and tedious task, you can easily mess up somewhere
updating to a beta is clicking 2-4 buttons
the only step, making a local backup, takes like maybe 5 minutes tops
if people would actually do that, we wouldnt be needed, this server would have like 200 people
no, that’s not true lol
well ok but it will be a fraction of its size
the problem would still get solved; the problem would not be almost entirely down to user error
some people update to a beta, didn’t backup; okay, that’s fine, just rollback to the latest stable release. Instead, this is what happens:
someone updated to a beta knowing that sidestore is broken, asks for support
not all people are tech savy enough to know what to do
i dont think anyone did that
a few people did, well after we said that you shouldn’t update to 26.4
making backups doesn’t require anything tech savvy, all it requires is really just heeding the advice apple gives, nothing is exactly “hard” about it
it’s one thing if someone was struggling to do it but that’s not really the case here, they just flat out did not make one 😭
i’m saying this from experience cuz i used betas like more than once, and have made the same mistake, main reason why I keep a local backup on my macbook
