#Insight skill - make viable

Improve benefits from “insight” plz. Double the reward gained from actions or decrease the number of perk points to level it up.

Otherwise currently there is no point (almost) in investing in “insight”, the benefits are so small and are so slow. Instead we are driving between towns, looting the same book stores again and again. It would be nice to invest in insight and don’t depend on book stores so much.

it should be viable play through, to invest in insight to progress. Thank you!

Must be really boring to loot the same buildings again and again...

Yeah there are 2 crack a book POI types, and every town has one of them. Ive lotted them so many times I can do it with my eyes closed. But it is very boring 🥱, that we need an alternative

It's not meant to be a replacement, and though a hefty cost, once you have lvl 2-3 you really do see the difference (which you should never see anything substantial with the lvl 1 perk to begin with).
And unlike the crack a book, this is a constant thing, and passive. By 3+ the perk replaces books entirely and you run around focused on a single task to level whatever skill it is you are trying for.
The progress is also meant to be slow in this overhaul so players aren't blowing through everything in just a simple 100 day time period like they do in vanilla.

I bought my 1st insight point and felt it a bit. Good to hear that higher on it's worth it, cause getting the perk points to get there is a pain in the butt

Hmm, for me it barely does anything. May be the clubbing skill is the only one noticeable. It’s passive but it costs a lot of pints to invest, it should be more rewarding to use it and not to reply on books so much. Alternatives are good to have.

# obsidian grove Yes, sure, that’s would achieve the same result

the end result might look the same, but it is different. Increasing gain but keeping cost the same would leave you an entire level of not getting anything while that 1 point could have been put to use. The increase to the % would feel nice though. Decreasing the cost though makes it more readily accessible, level up once and you can get first level and start passively gaining earlier, which would lead to more gain in the early uses.

You take path of least resistance , unless you have a great self restraint. And I’d like the game to improve it, and have an alternative. Or , a wild idea , removing crack a book POIs, so that it’s not even tempting

Of course the goal is to make progress. And of course it might be that things need to be balanced.
But constantly repeating boring activities to speed up progress while saying you like the slow progress is funny.

alpine gazelle

the state of skill progress currently is actually decently balanced. The only thing any of these suggestions do is offset the balance making it to fast in progression or grudgingly slower.

well that would open up the question, if the perception of "slow progress" includes farming crack a book or not.

quartz charm
#

Farming it once is ok as there are not that many book stores out there compared to the other POIs. Otherwise Red would have removed them.

#

Farming it again and again is not intended.

alpine gazelle

there is only about 1 CaB store in each town (excluding the little outlets attached in little strips) and if you haven't messed with the restock settings, that is once every 2 weeks? Which is literal HOURS of gameplay before you can farm it again. Calling it "farming" is a little dishonest

And how many other POIs?

then the point makes even less sense

and what part of the progress is perceived as slow. i for my part have no problems with progress in some skills but other skills are severely lacking. for example my medical, and vehicle-skills are quite advanced.. my club-crafting-skill and shotgun-craftingskill are the lowest even though those are my main-weapons and i have 2 points in inisght.

So I checked my default map. I found about 15 towns (5 forest 5 desert 5 snow). Each had 1-2 cracks books. So I looted about 20 of them. But here are only 2 types of these poi’s so that’s a lot repetitive . I get it I could just start ignoring them , but it’s too tempting - since the rewards are so much better then any other path in the game

sand whale

my healings-kill is 8, my med-crafting is 51.. on the other end my clubcrafting is 16 but my clubbing is 50.. and i only ever produced work-stationmagazines myself.

#

thats quite the dissonance if you ask me. especially if i only looted one t2 and one t3 med-poi's compared to 3 T4 and one t5 military-poi's.

quartz charm

Of course it gets boring if you check all towns for the same 2 buildings.

If I was bored, I would look for unknown POIs and clear those.

sand whale

that is only viable as long as there are unknown poi's no?
