#water is to hard to get. there are so many steps to get it.

Have you added a tarp and bucket to your campfires? This will halve the time to make water at the beginning of the game.
yes, we have 8 campfires running non stop, we actually all got infected, and basically can't continue the game because food and water are so hard to maintain, that we don't find it fun. also, 3 infected water = 1 water, 7 people, you need 5 glasses of water to refill your water, that's a crap load of water needed...
yep.
In solo it's recommended to have 2 campfires distilling water 24/7 at the beginning of the game. So with 7... you might need more
i'm playing by myself right now, trying to dig us a base. I can't maintain food or water at this point, so I just die and loose skill levels just to get half water back.
i also hope you can't get double infected, because I thought once I was turned, I could drink infected water, turns out you just get double infected, lol.
Double infected? 🤔
yeah, I've got the turned debuff, and I'm also infected again.
Alternatively, if one person is a Crawler, they start with the Distillery unlocked. If you can mine the copper, and smelt it in a forge and make 100 Copper Ingots, you can make a Distillery. It will produce 1 clean water every 3-4 minutes on its own.
at about 30% twards the next turned debuff.
we cant get to that point yet. we all lost all of our levels do to death spamming, not having a choice to not revive on horde night.
I can't remember if you need a workbench unlocked for that
it's a pretty brutal mod over all. It's really fun, but not if you get stuck in a deathloop.
Why does it matter if you revive on horde night?
No you don't..
yes you do, i can provide screenshots if you like.
I lost the ability to cook baked potatos and make sledge hammers, and had to find new books to re-learn those skills.
if it's a bug, then that's something to look into.
Ok, screenshots then
no problem let me do some death spams.
okay, this is where I am right now.
ill go die a few times.
just noticed I lost a most of the levels in my knife skill,
back down to 1 knives.
hard to track them all, but I know for a fact i was at 6 knives.
was wacking the target dummy for 2 hurs last night.
if it's a bug, then I'd love to to get fixed, lol.
There is no code connecting death on bloodmoon to perk or action skill loss
then I have no idea whats going on.
Are you dying from infection reaching 100% or from loosing all your health?
Yeah.. so I wonder what else is going on
8 campfires and 7 people is not enough you need 2 to 3 campfires per player, food and water is manageable if everyone pull their weight
once you are 100% infected, you revive with a 10% debuff to most actions,
had to restart the server, I'll look once its up.
i clicked on tailoring and crashed.
yea, i was unable to do any actions.
just move around is all i could do.
basically a crash, lol
Could this have something to do with the server config?
<property name="DeathPenalty" value="1" /> <!-- Penalty after dying. 0 = Nothing. 1 = Default: Classic XP Penalty. 2 = Injured: You keep most of your debuffs. Food and Water is set to 50% on respawn. 3 = Permanent Death: Your character is completely reset. You will respawn with a fresh start within the saved game. --> @fair tulip
Also if struggling for food and water, I recommend all members put points into Constitutional. If you are getting hit, healing will consume food. Points in constitutional will help alleviate that by providing additional healing without food.
huh, if you get re-infected after a server re-start, it takes away the turned de-buff.
thanks i guess?
i remember it was like, -10% looting, and I think crafting?
i'm at 44% again, so it won't be long.
we are playing on the default recommended settings.
the turned debuff is cosmetic and only for sake of information
that is to say, the state of having the debuff does not confer any effects that exist so long as the buff is applied
I can go drink some infected water to speed up the de-buff
👀 but why
So just to be clear, dying from infection WILL cause a **permanent ** 10% loss of all skills. You should try avoid that.
However dying from other causes will only give you a -25% Vitality penalty, as well as whatever penalty you set in your server settings, e.g. lose your inventory.
eh, its no biggy, I've only been playing for about 20 hurs in the mod so far, and almost all my stats haven't moved or have been lowered so much that it hardly matters anymore.
you must be chugging infected water like crazy
You'd be better off dying from thirst than from infection
lol damn 7 people? you're gonna need so many jars and campfires to keep that goign dude.........
any time I get to zero water, I just go let zombies kill me.
But if you get your campfire going that should not happen...
its just really hard to justify 3 water = 1 water. and needing to drink 5 water to get your thirst back up is brutal.
i don't mind, it's just going to take me around a week or so of play to get to the point where water isn't an issue.
like the best plan is to split up, have search teams go into the town and try to find bars, poi with glass bottles on the ground and bring those back asap. when I plaeyd with a team of three, we had to get our asses out there asap to get water going
oh and more campfires
Yeah that's actually the goal of the mod. First week is all about basic survival, food and water. Everyone should have that as their main focus.
with a big crew like you've got you would definitely want 1 person to go crawler, everyone should go loot and find a cooking pot, get your buckets and tarps, get some logs, and just get all those fires working
Try find liquor stores, they have tons of jars
and only 1 cook so that one can get the cooking books
then go loot, ideally a place with lots of alcohol, empty them all out or drink them and put those jars to work in the queues
we have been.
and stop drinkign infected water
and avoid dying
well i want the turned de-buff so i get rid of the infection debuff again,
Also farming does work, if you can find nitrate to make farm plots, that will help, have 1 person reading the seed books.
WAT
I guess it's a bit academic to say but the turned debuff does not get rid of infection, dying of infection does that :p
yep
After which, you will probably get infected again if you get into a fight
i didn't know that being turned didn't stop you from getting re-infected.
my thought was 'oh im turned, now i can drink infected water'
Oh I can see how you would think that haha
youre not literally a zombie
Imagine that, and now you have to always eat rotten meat
that's what i was thinking.
i thought survival was about to get a hole lot easier.
turns out, it's not that deep, lol
believe me if this mod was gonna turn you into a zombie it'd be suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper obvious
i honestly did think the mod had planned for people to be able to become sudo-zombies, lol
i wouldnt halfass something like that
was thinking something life farcry instincts level of coolness.
where i get super strength, or something like that, but can't do complex crafting.
just waiting to die from the infection again, it's at 92%.
tbh if I were to implement that I would probably implement some extremely restrictive system to keep you acting like an actual zombie
man, you may want to avoid doing that lol. go at night and get those mushrooms
stopppppppppp
it's too late, the past 6 poi's had no meds. lol
if you got the manaka honey, make the drink asap
yeah but you can go at night, collect a bunch of mushrooms and eat them. its 1% each one if you dont have manaka honey
i'm already at 0% vitality too, so it's not a big deal.
losing your skills is not worth it dude
i'm already at like, 1 on most stuff, it's fine.

maybe...start over with all the good tips
I feel like you and your friends might benefit from a restart of your world with your new knowledge
eh, if we can't recover, it is what it is and we aren't true gamers.
yeah, i think that might be the way because ultimately, with a group of 7... you have to split up and get jars asap lol
yeah, water and good food is really hard to maintain...
I kinda like the idea of a challenge of trying to feed and water 7 people
tot doable
it sounds like a party
how do i restore vitality faster than my decked out house?
forget about it, I don't have that many...friends
Get really drunk
go faq...
ugh. our group is pretty de-motivated with the early game difficulty, we might just be stopping for now, some of the players are having problems getting stuck in the floor on respawn, or stuff like that.
i just find it funny that all the problems we are having is because of food and water.
best would probably to start over with all the new tips and try to manage food and water first
nah, we will prolly just try to find another mod,
This is good feedback, the mod is living up to its goals 😄 hardcore survival
yep. so hard core can't even build up enough to just survive. lol
love it.
my friends, not so much.
I think it's great. :3
but you know how it is, you gotta tard rangle all the friends to play 1 game, lol.
It's a different mindset to vanilla entirely. I argue that vanilla is now a looter shooter, not a survival game. In this mod you really have to scrounge and scavenge everything. But if you can stick with it, it actually has a nice water progression. At first, its scarce, then its manageable, then you get a distillery and its basically forgotten.
only one person went crawler.
1 is all u need
we are looking for copper rn.
i also like it how jars are... reusable. it drives me NUTS that a completely fine mason jar is 'consumed' in vanilla lol
but in afterlife, you can drink from a jar and it is still reusable
Yeah I think the only thing that consumes a jar is Molotov's
where does copper spawn? im stuck digging rn, but i can have my friend go looking for it.
forest
In the forest biome. Big copper coloured rock will be on top of a node.
behold 3 hurs of work.
I ain't no quitter, it takes as long as it takes.
my only complaint is i wish i could hurry up and die to infection already, lol.
stop doin that >_<
uhhh, my shovel now has infinite durability?
yeah, it's not breaking anymore and i can dig as much as i want.
thanks for the infinite shovel.
lol
well thats odd..
we had a bug like that with the clay a while ago
the issue was the soil not the tool I think
i'm keeping this shovel, it's the mark of a true gamer.
@fair tulip you should tell your friends to look up when it rains if they are so thirsty
it's not enough water.
i gave up on doing that because you get like 2 points for 13 mins, lol.
dieing is better.
Depends how hard it rains, same for rain catchers
still trying to do that too..
i had a barrel, but i didn't know it was part of the recipe and dropped it.
don't i feel dumb now.
o well. it takes as long as it takes.
it's day time btw.
could i ask for craft from chests and stack to nearby chest be added to the pack? i feel like, it's so needed.
That has been discussed and no that will prolly won't happen, also it is comfort so...not really needed xD
i say, all items should have to be placed in 1 by 1 chests.
to easy with 4 to 10 slots.
i feel like as it is, this mod will take me around 1,000 hurs to get to where vanilla gets you in 5 hurs. so that's pretty cool.
prolly have to turn off horde night for the 1st 30 or so hordes.
suffering builds character.
There are progression jumps. E.g. getting a vehicle means you can travel further. Travelling further means you can loot lots of mailboxes for magazines and fragments. More magazine fragments boosts progression further. Unlocking the chem station means you can now create paper, which means you can farm fragment research with paper + blank ink.
yep. just gotta gather copper. i think someone in our group found like 5 or so, so it's only a matter of time now. maybe around 24 real hours before we are out of the stone age and into the copper age.
Getting the copper for the first distillery is a bit of a grind. In the process you'll level up mining which will make future mining quicker. I'd imagine you might want 2 or more with a group of 7. But even have 1 + camp fires should help. If you can make red tea that will help you use less water and food from stamina use.
yeah, it's going to be a while.
we are all just die spamming because it's faster then engaing with the mechanics.
it's just too much of a drain on resources to fight the undead or eat or drink.
sometimes, dead is better.
lol
now, if death respawns you with 5 food and 5 water, that's a diffrent story.
but giving us 50% is op i think.
If you are just dying, are you at least stock piling food and water so you can eventually make a good run at it?
well, we just dont have the resources to maintain anything.
This section is related to ideas and feedback, it was supposed to be related to water and derivated a lot. I suggest to go to general to continue this convo and maybe engage with more members.
