Can be, just depends what's causing it. I fixed mine by just spraying wd40 contact cleaner into it. I know a few peeps who just opted to replace the thumbsticks themselfs to fix the issue as well, can be a pretty simple process depending on your controller.

it depends what part of your controller is causing it
usually it’s just due to debris and stuff and you can use WD-40 like the message above said but other times it’s the joystick itself (idrk what exactly but something about something inside it) and you’d have to replace it, i had to replace mine on my controllers to get rid of stick drift cause WD-40 did nothing
