I understand that it's very silly of me to believe that open-source application can be developed in a rapid way, but...
I joined Ente Photos more than a year ago. The first ticket I wrote to support on my first day was: "Why there are tags on your website, but there is no such feature in the app?". The answer was: "The feature will be implemented in 1-2 quarters".
And it's still there. After this period, almost nothing has changed in my user experience:
- You haven't fixed the issue with the photo crop on PC: there is still only one marker to crop it, so I can crop the image from the bottom right corner only
- You haven't added tags in ANY way. I was surprised, but it seems to me that even hashtags in descriptions doesn't work or it depends on the device.
- You haven't simplify the interface. We still have a really messy sidebar. We still don't have the map view or even proper album page on PC - it is just a horizontal strip... which UPDATES EVERY HALF-SECOND. In general, it become even worse through this year. You are still focused on releasing features for mobile, while forgetting to at least fix the basics on desktop.
And at this point, I am really starting to think about trading some security and privacy, but to try Immich or other solutions. But there is literally no one in the market, which gives such level of privacy and such pricing.
Could you please explain your plans on tags, desktop version and the other problems I addressed?
It seems to me that your are focused on side-things more, like memories. I appreciate and support the things you are doing, but my gallery is literally a mess of saved images with cartoon characters and scenarios. In this case, memories are literally useless. And managing around 20k files without a tags... is not quite the experience I was signing for a year ago.
P.S. Sorry if this sounded personal. I just want you to be aware that there are people with different use cases and that I am looking forward to see tags in the future. Thank you for your time and effort!
