Neither the director or Ador will probably ever come out and confirm any "lore" or "meaning". They might mention what they were thinking of when they made the films but like all great art, it can be interpreted personally in a lot of different ways and none of them necessarily wrong. If a certain narrative speaks to you and you think it's true that's cool, doesn't need to be validated by others to be authentic haerinthumbsup

it's so interesting cuz i think ditto was also critical of the industry as well. i think ditto conveyed how timeless/meaningful connection between the artists and the fans should be established through good music and not just pure para-social relationships devoid of substance. it's so funny cuz just like cool with you, the lyrics in ditto do nothing to advance this idea. the lyrics in both songs stick to typical topics in pop which sits in contrast to the deeply meaningful and somewhat critical mvs.

Ok this is my interpretation:
You are worker or student but then your adhd started to kick in and you are distracted and not doing what you supposed to be and then your co-worker or classmates (newjeans) started to looking at you or maybe telling you to focus but you ignore them. In the end your teacher or boss see what you did and make you to do your tasks again (maybe the reason hoyeon seeing newjeans that way in the end of the MV because they were reporting you to your boss or teacher)

On a surface level; the whole Cupid and Psyche story still makes most sense for me, with Tony Leung being Aphrodite coming down to punish Cupid(Hoyeon) for ignoring her duties. On a more thematic level; I feel there's so many ways you can take this that it really depends on your own personal experiences and feelings

in side a, near the ending, she is in the bed with the man, almost like a reference to the painting itself, where the man is in bed resembling death or sleep and cupid (hoyeon) is walking away from it
the rain in the end of side seems like a way of her grieving
in side b, she seems like she finally accepted his fate, but in the end, she finds him in the street, thinking he's alive, but with tony leung appearing behind him, my mom said it was like tony erased the man's memory of hoyeon
but for me, tony resembled the figure of death, as if he was taunting hoyeon

For me, my interpretation on this MV goes like this.
Hoyeon is wearing full black, Newjeans are wearing full white, Tony Leung is wearing full black.
When love is involved, its not all full white, and not all full black.
So as this person who walks the earth gives off the aura of feelings of love, lust, and temptation.
She goes around seeing all the people fall using her divinity around her, but at the moment of seeing a person who wasn't getting affected by her. She got curious as to why they don't get affected? Maybe this time she can finally see what it feels to like someone without getting affected by her divinity, because if you really think about it? Every time she's around somoene, they will either fall for lust/love/temptation. But this guy she meets doesn't get affected at all. The person was beside a girl and yet her divine power didn't affect him, then she started thinking about him to the point where she sits in a chair her divine powers was not affecting anyone else. So she decides to go forward of trying to fall in love, to feel what is lust, to embrace temptation and to be what is Human. "Newjeans are not angels, they are just watchers. They are the ones looking at her seeing if she will succumb to her own devices, they won't interfere on her agenda but will be there to watch how this divine being will do once they fall to the ground." Which is why the reason she has been looking at them most of the time in MV A, she's trying to see if they would interfere and they won't. So she went ahead and did what no one would do, to become human and what it is to have feelings. Part A ends.

Part B starts, she sheds her divinity, and introduced herself to the person she is interested in. Days, months, and years can probably pass during this time, but we don't know. All we know is that she is finally happy with the way things are, until one day another divine being shows up with the same divinity as her. Someone who can affect anyone with their lust/love/temptation as her before is now present. And as you guessed it, as another individual came to be. It doesn't mean that the current person you are with won't get affected by their divine power at all, and it shows how from one being to another can change someone in an instant. To which you see that someone else will take your place regardless of what you do, and if you do leave there is a price to pay. And that price is the sense/loss/feelings of what you thought is permanent. Part B ends. Interlude starts, NewJeans still watches her, and still didn't do anything to interfere on what her decision might have been. They leave it to her own fate, she watches them and smiles back at them. Meaning that no matter what, love is not full white or full black. It has its up and downs, but it should not stop you from moving forward. Interlude ends.

Ador confirmed, Cool With You is a modern adaptation of the Greek myth of 'Psyche and Eros'. It tells the story of Eros (Hoyeon) giving up her godly status and choosing her love. NewJeans appears as a guardian angels who accompanies God and follows the narrative contemplatively

so I found this theory, and i think it's genius

cool with you could be a continuation to ditto and omg, with newjeans being shapeshifters and hoyeon being an adult ban heesoo, who got cursed by newjeans by making her invisible to everyone.
in ditto, it seemed like heesoo was the only one who could see newjeans. newjeans were actually shapeshifters, and heesoo stranded away from them because she thinks newjeans is just a fruit of her imagination and she's worried her crush and others think she's crazy seeing her talk alone at school, then in omg, the lyrics are literally heesoo venting to her crush, with her thinking she's crazy for seeing things.
"They keep on asking: Who is he?" is literally newjeans asking who the man was, jealous because heesoo stranded away from them, and jealous of her crush as well. the jealousy was so much, the girls put a curse on heesoo, turning her into a cupid since cupids are destined to make soulmates find each other but never their own. the deer is one of the girls, and the cat in ditto is haerin. the end of ditto has minji erasing a drawing of heesoo, meaning she's invisible.

years later, heesoo is an adult and still a cupid, with nwjns monitoring her to make sure she finds no one.
rain itself seems like it's a weakness for the shapeshifters, like how in the end of ditto the girls disappear when heesoo walks away in the rain, so heesoo drenches herself in the rain and breaks her curse, so she can find her loved one

The story of cupid and psyche is when cupid fell for a human named psyche. Hoyeon is cupid. the boy is psyche. While Cupid does her job, she falls for a human and begins to stop doing her job and instead follow him around. New Jeans represent angels warning her to not do that because it’s a sin for a god to love a mortal, but she ignores them. Tony is Aphrodite, the mother(father in this case) of cupid(Hoyeon). He makes the boy fall for the other girl we saw in the other mv and damns Hoyeon to mortality. At the end we see newjeans dancing, I think the song name is also “get up” because they’re telling her to get up and go back to her job, but she refuses and deals with mortality! The reason she cant see herself in the mirror is because gods/goddesses cant see themselves.
