In Korea its pretty similar though idols are expected to dance well at the very least and some members have to be able to sing well. Both industries are primarily focused on the parasocial relationships

That's why in both countries artists are given a lot more respect and are enjoyed a lot more about the general public

In Korea, popular artists would be like LWY, IU, or Heize

In Japan, Yoasobi, Aiko, Utada Hikaru, etc

The Japanese idols were seen as amateurs with their almost laughably poor dance and singing skills in comparison to the Korean trainees on the show

However when it came to personality, audience interaction, and knowing how to interview

The Japanese idols dominated the Korean trainees who had very little to no experience with it.

Osaka on the other hand is very much alive at night and lots of things are open late

What I have done and what I have suggested to people in the past is this

You stay in Osaka and day trip to Kyoto in the mornings like 6-7 AM, earlier if you want to

You do Kyoto for several hours like 8-4 PM

and then you head back to Osaka to rest for a bit before dinner time and evening fun

Osak is also better connected to other towns you may want to day trip to

Nara, Kobe, Himeji

or hell even Hiroshima if you want to head down that way

Sumida City isn't the best location

Since its quite a ways outside of the main heart of central Tokyo

This kakigori (shaved ice) place is so popular that reservations are fully booked out minutes after spots open up. And who knew savoury kakigori would actually work?😍

I was pleasantly surprised by the special seaweed sauce (recommended for the rice ball shaved ice) which goes perfectly with the mune shio (umami salt) milk syrup.

There’s even “tuna mayo” inside as well, which strangely didn’t even taste peculiar when eaten together with the shaved ice. Other ingredients include olive, caper, white sesame etc. - you can ask the staff to remove any ingredients you don’t like. For me, everything somehow made sense in this creative dish 🤩
