Seperated the EU & NA LFG voice channels to have their own individual Unranked and Ranked categories.
↳ #lfg-pc-na-ranked is now designated for Ranked LFG requests. While #lfg-pc-na-unranked is now for Unranked and other gamemodes!
↳ LFG Partybeast voice chats provide an array of commands to help your voice chatting experience! These are restricted to only the voice chat owner
↳ Use /kick <user> to kick users from your voice chats that are problematic.
↳ Got those annoying few who keep rejoining? Use /ban <user> to ban users from your voice chat.
↳ Want to have a VC for only your friends? Use /limit <number> to limit how many people can join your voice chat.
↳ While being in a voice chat you can now use !lfg <message here> to post an embed message with invite link to your voice chat. Pressing the highlighted Voice Channel icon will now instantly join you into that requests voice channel! As is regularly in the news, inflation has been rising in many countries and industry sectors for some time. This server is, unfortunately, not safe from this storm and the increasing cost of skilled, qualified moderators is simply not sustainable for us. Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to lay off the moderator team effective immediately. This is in no way commentary on their skill and we wish them the best of luck in their future endeavours.
All is not lost for us here on this server, however! With AI technologies improving at meteoric pace, we will invest the money we no longer need for moderators in significantly upgrading the server's bots. Users should notice no reduction in moderation capacity on the server.

After a night and morning of intense negotiations, we are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with our former moderators. You will undoubtedly have noticed that our recent pivot towards AI was not well received by all of our former colleagues, and these holdouts were determined to bring us back to the table and strike some kind of bargain.
We are nothing if not reasonable. Together, admins and moderators have agreed that all of our former colleagues will be reinstated immediately, and that going forward they will work on a voluntary basis. This will soothe the original concerns we had about costs and allow the server to continue operating smoothly. Which means that if you picked up the server event role while the channels were archived you will need to follow the category to be able to view the channels. In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we have decided to bring attention to the cause by hosting a community tournament for you all to participate in!
In our main event, we will be playing Mercy Boxing (W1FGQ), followed up by some Mercy Parkour to end the evening off—depending on community interest. We also have some cool goodies to give out, so keep reading ahead!The main goal here is for us to bring the community closer together whilst bringing awareness to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. (*BCRF)
It’s meant to be chill and fun, so I hope I can see some of y’all there!

It has been a good run and to be honest, I miss you already:
As of today, I will step down from the r/overwatch discord team and say goodbye to everyone. As you may have noticed, I was not able to be as active as before, mostly due to my job and upcoming RL events/other duties. I tried for the past 3-4 months to somehow balance it, but w/ all the recent changes in my life I also lost motivation and mostly the “energy” to keep on doing what I was doing besides my daily life. This altogether leads me to this decision.
I can look back to nearly 2 years full of memes (which I still don’t get most of the times), trolls, spammers, ARG cough ./assist, many event/hero releases, scrims, flute guys and 3 reddit tournaments… and it almost makes me cry.

Any shared Overwatch OC must tie specifically back to Overwatch. A typical OC should be in the style of the Overwatch universe and should resemble a character concept (ie. Inclusion of skills, abilities or planning). Any attempts at shoehorning unrelated art as an "Overwatch OC" will be shot down.
Rule of Thumb: The art should not sexualize the character more than Blizzard does.
Reminder: Final verdict is subject to staff discretion.
We've implemented a cap on the previously uncapped Discussion voice channels. Our goal with this change is to increase the overall voice chat quality by making it easier for mods to spot any troublemakers and dissuade or curb extremely low quality discussion from taking place. Any attempt at misusing other voice channels to bypass this restriction will be punished severely.

- New Coaching category. Hopefully there are individuals interested in VOD review and perhaps coaching.
- LFG channels have now been split per Battle.net region (NA, EU, ASIA) for PC, and per console (XBOX, PS4).
- OW VCs naming scheme has been slightly changed to better accomodate for easier flexibility in adding or removing channels.
- All OW VCs have had their bitrate raised to 96kbps while we were fiddling around with names.
- Esports-Announcements will now better focus on upcoming esports tournaments and changes in the esports scene. We are considering having a few helpers for that.
- Community-Announcements will now focus purely on community happenings, such as fun inhouse scrims, karaoke, etc.

Hello OWL fans! In honor of the new season, we'd like to have a little game (similar to sports fantasy leagues) that involves betting on which of your favorite teams will win OWL 2020.
Prizes:
• First Place: 10 lootboxes :lootbox: and 200 OWL Tokens
• 2nd - 10th Place: 100 OWL Tokensor 5 lootboxes :lootbox:
• Users may only make one submission, but may edit their submission as many times as they'd like prior to the deadline.
• Suspicion of coordination with other entries or submitting more than one entry will result in the forfeiture of any prizes.
• Contest winners be on the server at the time of the contest's completion, and must be in good standing with the server. Being banned from or muted on the server at the time of contest completion will result in the forfeiture of any prizes.

Hey, it's me. Some of you might remember 5 years ago when I started the /r/Overwatch server as a fan of the game and wanted a place for people to hang out. Since then, this server has changed my life - giving me opportunity to work at a dream company, moving across the country to California, and meeting many new people. Without this community of people sharing their passion for gaming together, I wouldn't be where I am, and I'm so thankful for that everyday. Probably the single most frequently suggested feature for this server in its lifetime has been rank roles. Now, at last, the time has come! Starting today you can self-select a rank role to make it easier to group up with similar players. Head on over to #824753346295627857 to get started. Some brief notes about this new system:
Only one rank role can be active at once. If you select a different one, the previous one will be removed. We're aware that people who play on multiple platforms may have different ranks and we're working on a way to expand the system to allow this.
The role change channel has a slowmode of one hour to cut down on spam, so ensure you type accurately.

Many people have reported today that the #824753346295627857 channel was not working correctly for them, no matter how carefully they entered commands in the channel. All admins have been working tirelessly to uncover the problem and we have, at last, succeeded. I had carelessly left in an off-by-two error that I have now removed. Users should now find that they are no longer assigned a role two ranks below the one they chose.
Please accept our humblest apologies for the confusion.

D'oh. After fixing the off-by-two error it turns out that I had entered little-endian role mappings into Zeppelin when it expected big-endian ones, leading to people getting the "mirror" role of what they asked for. I've made a further edit and I promise it really does work as expected now. What you type is what you'll get. Seriously. Try it out!

[Event Hosting Changes]
Hi everyone!
We have decided to make some changes to hosting events on the server!
The main change is moving from a fully scheduled and consistent system (which often fell through for various reasons) towards a more adaptive and flexible hosting structure. Unfortunately, this means saying goodbye to our permanent event hosts - we thank them for their service. 
Excitingly, the change opens up opportunities for our regular users, who will now be able to apply to host any kind of event, whenever they wish to, via ModMail! The staff team will assess your proposals on a case-by-case basis, and if we give the go ahead then you will be granted hosting permissions for the duration of your event, and keep the <@&845011381698953226> colour for two weeks following. This doesn’t mean you need to commit to hosting monthly - you may host just once, or as often or irregularly as you like!
In addition, we are removing the <@&754702388912324708> system, so if you are interested in hosting an event - be it overwatch games, karaoke, jackbox, among us, or anything similar - shoot us a message via <@&264402806314631168> with the details of your idea and we will get back to you ASAP. We hope that this change will bring about more diversity between events, and encourage more of our community to get engaged.

DISCORD ACCOUNT SAFETY

Over the last couple days a new account takeover system is currently making rounds and proving to be more effective and deceitful then ones prior.
Compromised accounts will DM you information regarding a situation of someone impersonating you which is NOT TRUE and aims to get you to click on the server invite they send.
These severs aim to trick people by covering the scam as an account verification system upon joining.
Servers like these require “verification” before you are supposedly allowed into the rest of the server. This is by scanning a QR code that exploits the existing QR login feature by Discord to remotely gain access to your account.
