The more games a team plays doesn't always mean an opportunity for them to win, i.e. Shanghai in the 2018 season
Of course, because of the 4 game system, certain teams can have a relatively good few games and qualify for the monthly tournaments
Nobody went into May Melee Qualifiers thinking the Dallas Fuel would win, but the 4 game system lead a previously mediocre team to a big victory in the end
I think the 4 game system is really to prevent the same handful of teams from dominating constantly. The last thing most people want is for teams like Shock and Shanghai to obliterate every other team, so only having 4 games means that these top tier teams can't afford to lose
This is why teams like Atlanta and Boston seem so promising at the moment, they're not top tier teams, but they've shown the talent necessary to get there already, they just need to win more games
Another huge factor for certain teams doing well and other teams doing bad is the scheduling of games. London, so far, hasn't really faced many opponents on their level, and when they have faced a somewhat equal team, they've choked pretty hard. That's to say that it's necessarily London's fault or the 4 game system's fault, it's just luck of the draw for these bottom tier teams
When Overwatch League seasons start, it's every team for themself, and London's start put them up against very tough teams, but I don't think even the matchmakers knew they were going to have such a difficult early season
So, hopefully, as the season goes on, teams start to take their foothold in the 4 game system, and start to make regular and expectable showings. You just need to look at the middle of the team bracket to see how some teams win and lose all the time.
