they play a double elim bracket

In overwatch, there is two regions. The west which consists of NA and Europe teams. These teams are city based like Houston outlaws and not org based however some teams have orgs behind them supporting them. London spitfire is owned by C9 and the glads are owned by the guard. The West will play matches during the regular season to determine their standings ie. 11-0 (11 wins and 0 loss). The top 2 teams in this region based on standings will automatically qualify for the tournament. The other teams will play a knockout in order to see who will make it (a double elim bracket). The East is the same thing but due to having less teams, they decided to implement contenders teams. Contenders is like the division below overwatch league and is where teams pick up their players. They will play regular season matches and then a double elim bracket to see who qualifies. Top 2 in this region from the bracket will make it to the tournament where they will play a double elim bracket along with the west to determine who is the champion. In this season, there are 2 tournaments (mid season madness and playoffs) mid season madness just happened and now we are heading into the regular season for the fall stage
