It's not that standards are so low but that OWL is just very poorly ran, organized and worked. It's heavily moderated and takes a lot of the freedom aspect out of esports (trash talk for example)

yio we have a problem. The old stat system is a lie. the new system shows the truth and the truth shows the tank and support doing more then the DPS. This is my second ranked game where both DPS players just leave out of humiliation. without their cheats they cant perform. their KD is horrible the opposite of their tanks and supports.

The game itself was just flawed for E-Sports. Hard to follow as a viewer, and individual skills due to the teamwork dynamics meant it was/is hard for single players to make defining/exciting plays. Example being a player in Valorant or CS:GO can still win 1v5, where that level of play is not possible in OW

Nah I disagree with that notion tbh, Overwatch works fine as an esport, obviously there are some places it lacks but it definetly has/had its place as a pretty niche esport because there simply weren’t many other overwatch esque games in Tier 1 esports at the time. I just think that blizzard brute forcing OWL was a bad decision in hindsight and without it we would of probably seen a somewhat more sustainable pro ecosystem

Personally I wanted the new OWL Hub to be released with it, can't be disappointed they couldn't focus on advertising the league properly if they had this much trouble running the server instances to queue up
