sorry
Emily probably won't ever be playable, nor should she be.
Emily wouldn't make a very good hero
She's a supporting character.
Overlord would be a good support hero though
support-ing character? 👀
lol
but yeah no
Not every character they introduce needs to/should be a combatant.
Emily is a civilian non-combatant
Brig and Torb do have suprisingl little interaction or is it just me?
Granted I havent looked into OW media just yet
they've got a few
yeah not really
they do have some in game but there only place where they're together in lore is a one panel cameo in Reflections
I think (at least at present) Brig being Rein's student is more important to the plot than her being Torb's daughter.
yeah
I do wish they'd explore Brig and Torbjorn's relationship more
she's the only one of his kids who went into being a mechanic/engineer like him
ye both of u are right
and brig and rein's interations are aweeeesome
oh more torb and rein too but we got enough as of right now prolly
in comparison to other hero interactions that are sorely not fleshed out
are they changing mcrees lore?
oh word okay
The only thing they changed was his name to Cassidy but other than that it seems like its the same
Is overlord a meka suit or something?
Casino is the driver.
That's a different MEKA?
they meant driver as in pilot
But isnt the pilot called by their name? This is confusing as shit now
Yes
I was responding to taigavia
The previous message was unclear because there’s also an actual driver among meka pilots
Oh like a car driver?
well, an ex driver anyway
race car yes
What is your headcanon about soldier's visor ? Mine is that it's somehow linked to his brain, explaining how something connected to your head can make your hands so much more precise
And it would actually be dangerous to use the visor for too long
That'd actually kinda make sense tbf
It'd also tie in with the massive scar on his head. I wonder how he got it?
Probably from the explosion the world believes killed him and Reyes
Since I don't think we see him with the scar before that
i think he uses it for two reasons:
- so no one would recognize him since he is officially considered dead
and - to improve his combat mechanics
according to "hero" cinematic, his visor is a thing which automatically fixes the targets and then wherever soldier shoots, it goes exactly to the them
simply aimbot, but i may be wrong
Yeahh it does aimbot
But HOW? If it's just a simple visor, I don't really see how it helps without any zoom or artificial aiming
I think you're taking game mechanics too literally
The visor is just a HUD that helps him aim.
if he was a cyborg it could make sense that it connects to his arms, but he isn't
all it does is point out targets
i imagine it does take some skill to react quickly to the information it gives you too though
He isn't a cyborg, but he's been modified and enhanced
What does Zen's Orb of Perception do? And are there any other orbs besides that, Discord, and Harmony?
it doesn't "do" anything, it's just a tool for meditation
is reapers real form a cloud of mist or his physical body?
you know when military higherups get sick experiments and use the tech on the soldiers to make their soldiers abilities and work output better? like the government giving soldiers an adrenaline pill or something. i feel like thats the case for soldier and it is linked to his brain
I think the visor is just tech that he wears
Cowboy's Deadeye is just good aim in canon, right? not some sort of aimbot with his left arm
yes, it's just good aim
Reaper is not a Demon
It's just a HUD
His cells degenerate and regenerate at an accelerated rate
Its mostly from genetic alterations he has had
I mean, did we have any confirmation?
Considering he is not a cyborg and that there is 0 link between the visor and his arms or gun
I can say with certainty it is not any of the other theories
Including yours
We've seen it multiple times, and I think the Visual source Book described it as just a hud, but I cannot double check that at the moment
Reaper seems to be in a similar state to Deadpool, but can go wraith mode
Yep it makes Reaper pretty overpowered. I think the only one who can beat him is Winston
in the animated short "Recall" you can see how easily Winston took down Reaper
Electricity seems to damage him tough
Reaper is invincible
He didn’t stay because he doesn’t care to kill Winston he just wanted the locations of overwatch agents
Also to be honest reaper leaving makes no sense whatsoever
Reaper was practically incinerated by Winston's tesla cannon
he fled so he could recover
He was also absolutely interested in killing Winston. Killing former Overwatch agents is his entire goal
Ironic considering in game Winston literally cannot kill reaper
the game has no bearing on the lore
in the game, Lucio can heal, Mercy uses a pistol, and you can have Talon and Overwatch members on the same team
Exactly, like reaper and monkey combo so well, yet reaper is in talon and monke is in Overwatch
I posted this poll yesterday on Reddit, just found the discord so thought I might get some more feedback here
OKAY SO I HAVE HAD THIS QUESTION IN MY MIND FOR SOME TIME
how does mercy's tech work because for sure floating wings and resurrection and other shit cant be technology right
it has ro be powers
It's technology, but there's no strict scientific explanation because Overwatch isn't a hard sci fi series
Of note, her resurrection doesn't actually bring back the dead
It's a burst of healing and energy
This, in other words
Her floating probably involves some anti-grav technology (also see: every car)
No not really Reaper wrecks Sigma tbh
Yeah. But Sigma completely negates reapers ult. And gains like 300 extra health from it
If its technology. Then admittedly it's probably a few hundred years too advanced for us. But if someone was able to make that do you think they would keep it for themsleves and use it kinda like mercy does, or disperse it out to hospitals and the like Around the world
Yeah, ik. I was just pointing it out
Mercy did give it to overwatch
and then they misused it to make weapons
We don’t know why exactly it’s not used more after the fall
It’s possible that it’s immensely expensive to use at scale
Mercy herself says it’s because she’s been tainted by her Overwatch connection, though we don’t know how much of that is in her head
Yeah. Fair point. If the government and everyone are gonna misuse it then its probably for the best you keep it to yourself
She didn’t keep it to herself
True it would be expensive, but in places with non-privatised health care that would still work in hospitals etc
His gun isn't a custom gun
Is that the same tech
I always thought it was different
Ana, Moira, Soldier, and Baptiste all use Mercy's biotic tech
Oh. Well you learn something new every day
And Baptiste had his since back in talon, as seen in WYLB
A hospital being public/nonprofit doesn’t mean it doesn’t need to take care of finances
the most occam’s razor explanation is that it’s a combat medic technology specifically
it quickly heals trauma but doesn’t deal with diseases or something that requires long term care
I would be surprised if no PvE enemies use it in OW2
Whether its Talon or a 3rd faction like Helix
Ah ok. My bad
Wait, do the medpacks around the map use the same tech. Or are they not considered lore and just there for the games sake
The healthpacks are canon
It's likely they use the same technology or a similar one
nanobiotics is a field of medicine that is already being researched - granted, Mercy's tech is the sci-fi version of it, but it exists
Oh damn
That's cool
Wonder when they'll reach the same level of tech mercy has
If ever
probably not
I think AI/robotics and cybernetics will reach that level of advancement some day
probably not in 50 years though
also doubt, but who knows
who knows
people said flight wouldn't be invented for another million years and then the wright brothers took off soon after
idgaf i just want some irl Yu-Gi-Oh
does anyone know if this barcode on Cyborg Soldier: 76's pulse rifle has been deciphered?
https://i.imgur.com/wLKElwt.png
so uhmm can anyone explain why does reaper's skin "gabriel reyes" have brown eyes in the game, when he has olive green eyes in the cinematic?
Maybe he has the weird eye thing where their colour can change as you get older
Or just continuity error
It's probably a weird lighting bug
they actually change in that scene, if you watch carefully
so does it mean that gabriel was hameleon?
Is his eyes rlly green or brown?
it could be a side effect of Moira's treatments
About overwatch retribution lines, was it also connected about his joke being hungry? I believe its a side effect stated by Moira?
wait he already was getting some treatment from moira at that moment?
and his impulsive behavior, which caused all their problems
what type of and why
genetic issue... i wonder what that is
possibly related to his SEP conditioning
what is sep?
Soldier Enhancement Program
it's the US military program Reyes and Morrison (Soldier 76) were both in
basically, Captain America
genetically enhanced soldiers with higher strength, speed, agility and healing
I mean, he already has some 'shadow'/reaper abilities
He had those after Moira's intervention
why is Widowmaker straight?
That former partner happened to be a man.
she could still be a widow if her spouse had been a woman?
it's not forced, it was mentioned casually in a conversation between old friends
in almost the same breath as saying Reaper had a family , but nobody seems to notice that
widow is straight bc thats literally her name yeah? wouldnt it be widower
idk how that works
They should make Rein and Torb homosexual though
"widower" is a man who lost his spouse
it has nothing to do with the gender of the spouse
I like your mcree profile pic
it's Cassidy
that's a last name, last names don't have genders
i thought his last name was mcree, did i miss something?
if you're going to use his old name, at least spell it right
jesse mcree
it's McCree, not mcree
WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS OLD ONE
where have you been
mcree
I thought you said it was cassidy
yes
Meet Cole Cassidy.
Rides into Overwatch October 26. https://t.co/CT6PmaNXNs
8369
47513
so how do echo and ashe feel about that? or do they not care
you're getting dangerously close to shitposting
How
we don't know yet - the first time we see the name in the lore will be the short story that's likely coming out this week
they have started adding the new name into the game though
This is how.
!!shitposting
Shitposting will result in a loss of access.
Are you serious
Yes.
How much do we know about Ashe and Cassidy when they were younger
Pre-Overwatch for Cassidy
I think the novel Deadlock Rebels would explain their past, mostly Ashe and the Deadlock gang (Cassidy included ofcourse)
how did all these heroes become who they are
like for example soldier
how did he become who he is
by being almost blown up and scavenging for stuff and then finding a pulse rifle
He stole it from a closed off Overwatch watchpoint
thank u
It's probably an upgraded version of the guns he used when he was with overwatch
There is a longer story than that.
He was part of the Soldier Enhancement Program >30 years ago, which was basically an American super soldier program
Reaper was also part of that.
It gives them heightened regeneration, strength, etc.
He then became part of the original Overwatch strike team 30 years ago that helped bring an end to the omnic crisis.
After that, he was promoted to the leader of Overwatch as it became a global organization.
Then Overwatch started to go downhill because of internal corruption from others, and in the end a civil war led to the destruction of Overwatch HQ.
He was presumed dead because of that, but he didnt die, and he became Soldier 76.
His goal right now is vengeance.
vengeance against what exactly?
i thought he was only a vigilante doing his own thing
Against those who brought down Overwatch. He is going out as a vigilante against all the corruption in the shadows. Most of his enemies are people he used to be on good terms with
i see
People like reaper
I'm not familiar with his work
it will be interesting to see how/if this connects to the Old Soldiers storyline
He wrote a lot of Justice League Dark and Constantine
Ill announce it when its out
ah i didnt mean the server specifically but that's cool too
I thought it was out already to like no fanfare here or otherwise
is this Cass storyline Blizz talked about
Yes
Its a 5 comic series
Dark Horse? I’ve read some comics by them. Mostly Star Wars, but yeah. There artwork isn’t bad, but I don’t know if it would suit OW.
Oh. I didn’t know they published them. I only knew they published Star Wars
they publish various artists and authors
And I think they published that short comic series for Scooby Doo Apocalypse? So either ways they have some creative artists
ye it makes sense because in-universe he's going by Cole Cassidy now
ie anything after Zero Hour yeah?
ye
It doesn't make sense..
Canonically he's still McCree back then, but it won't be used in game
they don't really have a choice
if they do replace the lines i imagine they will just call him cowboy or whatever
wouldn't be too far fetched
to be clear they probably won't use the new name either
so it's not like it breaks the timeline or anything
instead it's just changed so that they never refer to him by his actual name which is honestly kind of believable for a covert mission anyway
This would be better indeed
!!shitposting @flat quiver
@flat quiver Shitposting will result in a loss of access.
Will they still say mcree in the lore, like when the gang sees him they’ll call him mcree or are they just gonna know he’s cole Cassidy
I'd guess no new content will mention cassidy as mccree anymore
But that doesn’t really make sense
What if they are used to his name changing a lot so they dont really care
Most likely
Because in Blackwatch he was Jesse Mccree
New comic's out, haven't read it yet, but it looks like Cole meets up with ||Ana & maybe Pharah?||
A new comic? Was expecting a short story. Those were much better. OW comics suck.
They do
they're mostly alright with a couple of notable exceptions
apparently this one has better writers credited to it's something
Kinda liking this one so far
hope it picks up in the later issues
Just finished, it's pretty good
Always happy to see lore for my favourite characters
^^
when's the last time we got a comic anyway? it's very refreshing to say the least
last one was Tracer's
it was not very good
they did say the name change applies to any current and future content
When will they add ball to the lore
Or sigma or Baptiste
None of the new characters
Have appeared in the comics
As far as I know
bap had a whole short story afaik
Yes
Ashe had her novel
But most of the newer heroes weren't around for the comic boon time when they were flying out for different characters
That may change if we see more comics leading up to and immediately following Overwatch 2's release
Good first issue.
But it was kind of awkward. They didnt call him by any name at all.
The "Charmer" made sense.
It was also a giveaway to tell who it was who wrote the letter.
But that last page looks like it was originally written to say "McCree?" instead of "What?"
But that's more just the fault of circumstances more than anything
In those last few pages, he's wearing his ow2 outfit isn't he?
Yes
So what im gathering so far is that mccree is the vessel through which lots of outside characters are gonna join up with overwatch
cassidy*
Personally im very interested to see how he would handle dva and zarya
presumably that'd make it even harder to recruit
would he do baptiste or what he more follow in mercys footsteps?
Baptiste is the last one who is unaccounted for
And he is probably just following Mercy.
I dont think he fits the same bill that Ana is using
I'm guessing Baptiste finds Overwatch rather than the other way around
of course there's a bunch of potential for new heroes we have never seen before
More like 1
5 issues
First is an intro
3 to recruit
5th issue could be anything
this series is shaping up to be a very lore-expansive addition
Much more optimistic than I was with London Calling
That was a very contained story that didnt look to have much to do
And it set itself up as a precursor to Alive.
This is directly after Reunion.
And also sometime after at least Bastet.
Also, white helmets. These are the redesigned Talon troops in the present day. There's even a heavy.
Wonder if the sniper will look more like this
Adding wrecking ball to the lore is going to be interesting
wonder if he'll actually have interactions with the main cast
yeah that was a nice setup comic. feels way less awkward then london calling
Thinking of it, in terms of the high profile names that we are seeing here.
Lucio is the only other one who would fit the bill, but he's not gonna be part of McCree's crew
The first issue of New Blood (out of 5) is also out now, read it here:
https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/media/stories/new-blood-1/
There are good comics and good short stories, and bad comics/stories. The Tracer comics and Searching were bad, but I wouldnt say half of the comics are worse than Bastet, and Valkyrie was pretty mediocre overall.
ooh that new comic was amazing
5th issue could be setting up a new character
maybe that omnic dude we saw a while back
I am incredibly curious to see how Zarya is gonna join up with new Overwatch.
The art in the comic is amazing ngl. But the writing feels a little rushed, but its just the first issue. We may know furthermore in the later issues
The last page has a lot of suspense though
I like the new Comic I'm so excited for the next part
not everyone is joining OW tho right
no, not everyone
Hanzo, Ashe, the Junkers, Ball
won't join
and the Talon heroes, obviously
Also Ana/Jack/Torbjorn
Joined in Zero Hour - Tracer, Winston, Mei, Genji, Rein, Brig, Mercy, Echo
Joined in OW2 on screen - Lucio, Sojourn, Cassidy, Bastion
Teased to join in OW2 - Pharah, Baptiste, D.Va, Zarya
Teased to at least help in one mission - Orisa
Not joining:
Old Soldiers - Ana, Soldier 76
Talon - Reaper, Moira, Doomfist, Widowmaker, Sombra, Sigma
Junkers - Junkrat, Roadhog
Torbjorn
Unknown:
Hanzo
Symmetra
Hammond
Zenyatta
Ashe (Also unlikely)
did anyone else notice that mcree has overwatch 2 outfit when he comes to pharah?
The page with the teaser for issue 2 has Aviator Pharah.
And Zarya is shown in her Arctic skin
so far, they didn't mention mcree's new name yet? in the comics
how do i use spoiler?
nobody has used it in-universe yet
||so basically they tied up his name change to the fact that he wants to start a "new life" after ana approached him and asked to become a leader who will bring overwatch back together. she told him that he should leave his past behind and become someone who makes his own crew. and right after that he approached her daughter already in a new outfit (overwatch 2), means he started to change his outfit as well||
Not quite. She doesnt want him to bring Overwatch back together. She wants him to make a new crew with new people who will do what Overwatch was supposed to do.
Her and Jack both think that they shouldn't join Winston's Overwatch, but for different reasons.
oh, does it mean there gonna be... let's say, two "overwatches"?
also what are those reasons?
also dva's going to join as well?
she was never in overwatch iirc
and the moment where ana shows a screen with her and pharah, it's dva's moment from her cinematic
yes
Winston, Mei, Brigitte, Pharah, Tracer, D.Va, Zarya, Genji, Lucio, Baptiste, Mercy, Echo, Cassidy and Reinhardt
plus Sojourn, who isn't in the picture
i wonder if hanzo will join talon or ow, but most likely none
also are you sure zarya will be in ow?
she's right there
she had some conflict with genji
she doesn't like omnics
She never met Genji
she's never met Genji
she'll probably have an issue working with Bastion, but will work it out
And there was a teaser that Bastion and Zarya do meet on the Overwatch ship
The one Tracer pilots.
And Echo sometimes pilots.
Reinhardt also has bad history with Bastion
Its been confirmed that the Gwisin use Bastions
And like Zarya, she is currently at war with Omnics
Also, I do not think we've seen many if any omnics in Busan
wait what is this?
From the BlizzConline panel
it's a clip from the behind the scenes panel
Same as the earlier screenshot
what's that panel even?
Reinhardt sees Bastion and charges, but when he sees that Bastion doesn't fire, he hesitates
Group up and go behind the scenes with the Overwatch team at BlizzConline as they dive into the development process and give players a sneak peek at Overwatch 2.
00:00 - Welcome to BlizzConline
02:06 - PVP: New Maps & Role Updates
12:25 - Hero Missions
17:08 - Progression & Talents
19:21 - Enemy Units
24:47 - New Hero Looks
28:46 - Story Devel...
also bastion so cute here lol
there's storyboards elsewhere in the panel that show Torbjorn shows up to defuse the situation and explain
and all of this is canon?
it's subject to change before the final product
The story stuff is subject to change but its teasing what will be canon
Also, as of New Blood, 100% of the characters teased in this panel have now been teased to join Overwatch in official lore materials
Pharah, D.Va, and Zarya were the last three who were unaccounted for, as was why Cassidy had a change of heart and showed up in Toronto.
thank you, i will watch it
Although if we are discussing suspicious teasers...
From right to left we have:
Tracer
Cassidy
Sojourn
Winston
Echo (floating, thin)
Lucio
Pharah
???
you mean the last one, behind all of them?
Yes
Too thin to be Zarya or Brig
Not in mech for D.Va unless she is out of mech
Baptiste isnt thin
I cant figure out who I am missing
Is it Genji?
aren't there npcs in the animated version of that scene?
Not Mercy, no wings
but soujorn isn't that thin either?
on the picture she is like tracer, so i think we can't really rely on the body type since it's just a sketch
it could be mercy
No wings
but genji has a hood? in ow2
Null Sector mob we havent seen yet
Where's this from
scroll up a bit, Jewvia posted a video
In Cairo, Cassidy approaches Pharah for Overwatch, but a complicated past with her mother makes Pharah unwilling to join. Cassidy arranges a meeting between mother and daughter that resurfaces memories and unhealed wounds, but a surprise attack leaves no room for vulnerabilities.
seeing Ana and Pharah reunite is one of the top things I wanted to see
Same
was looking thru old messages in here, but overwatch writers need to read some fanfics or think a lil harder or smth so they can figure out wtf to do with Hanzo, there's not any reason for him to be an edge case when Genji is part of Overwatch+The dragons reunion and teased reconciliation, D.Va is teased in Hanamura, yadda yadda etc
yknow what i mean
I've read some of those fanfics and their explanations for Hanzo getting into OW, if there even is one, are horrible
Genji is part of Overwatch because they saved his life and he wasn't too keen on "the clan" anyway
Hanzo is all about honor and keeping true to his family's tradition, even when it's dead
We might see something with him and Asa or the fox girl with Kanezaka
But there's no reason for him to join Overwatch, nor does everyone have to
idk i dont even mean joining OW I just mean there's potential for him elsewhere. He's also gotten like no real content in like, 5 years, that really hints at anything. Neither really has Pharah but obviously with New Blood that's changing
Isn’t orisa joining up with overwatch as well
Read message replied to below
.
Teased to help in at least one mission
Cool how mcree ties in to phara dva and zarya joing overwatch
cole but do go on
I remember the conversation about the Gwishin using Bastions in Busan. I knew it. That Omnium has been active since the First Omnic Crisis, so obvious it still uses Bastions
Regardless, love the New Blood comic and can’t wait to see the next issues and learn about what’s happening in Cassidy’s life
Also excited to see just how he is the one that is recruiting heroes to join the new Overwatch. Kinda thought the game would’ve done something like recruit members one at a time when Overwatch fights against attacking Null Sector, but it may still do that. After all, I don’t think Fareeha, Hana, or Zarya can just up and leave their comrades to join an organization that’s essentially illegal.
there will be some reason for them to come along
what is Zarya's real name?
Aleksandra Zaryanova
so fuckin cool
I think the floating one wasn't echo but mercy cus in the gift there's no echo you can see mercy's head behind winston
I mean you can kind of see the wings? Or that might just be some lines from the sketch
What are we looking at for this
This
and it's almost certainly echo
It's her signature pose, Mercy doesn't float like that
yeah
I don’t see an echo but I do see a mercy in the bottom right
Which you probably already saw
Do you mean/think echo adapted to mercy
No, I mean Echo as Echo
Oh ok
I can’t see her in the gif, is she behind people on the left or the right
Behind Winston
Mercy's in the gif, Echo isn't
but it doesn't have to match the storyboard entirely
Oh I got it
To point, Mercy in the gif doesn't float, she walks
as she usually does
is Echo's duplication ability canon or a gameplay feature?
I'd say it's probably cannon. Although I imagine there are others here who would say otherwise.
It's one of the most interesting things about her.
So it should be cannon.
she can canonically mimic people
but we haven't seen whether she can duplicate/physically transform into them
I’d say if D.Va can fly, shoot rockets, and use defense matrix in the cinematic if I remember, then probably
why is that relevant?
we have explanations for how D.Va can fly, shoot rockets and use defense matrix
we don't have an explanation for duplicate (as it appears in the game)
I'm curious to see how/why Pharah, D.Va and Zarya leave their current employment in Helix, MEKA and the Russian Army
are they going to be "on loan"? do they leave permanently? does their unit have an issue with them leaving?
We might get some good screen time for MEKA squad
Maybe one of them will join D.Va
Or will hold down fort as the new "leader" of the squad
I just hope they don't handwave them leaving
like, your star soldier is leaving to go join an illegal vigilante organization, and you don't have a problem with it?
I hope they hammer that point down
Its such a major key point
That has just been forgotten since it was first mentioned in Recall
Am I mistaken?
Did I forget a time it was mentioned
in-universe, that's pretty much it
Oh, and Overwatch Is Back
the devs did mention it during the Blizzcon panel so I do think it's still on their mind
But like
Old Soldies, Bastet, Valkyrie, all the Recall shorts including Honor and Glory, Zero Hour... Nothing
It popped up in Rise and Shine
But it was more like a cameo
yeah
Overwatch has been disbanded, and now there's a situation where the world is in trouble again, and the world needs the heroes again - but they're not allowed to be doing what they're supposed to be doing.
Jason Hill [cinematic director] says this, at 30:28 of the Blizzconline panel
it's sorta at the end of the segment though, so there's no follow up
After reunion
and the whole series may or may not last until after zero hour
so it's between Reunion and Zero Hour?
!!shitposting @vital plover
@vital plover Shitposting will result in a loss of access.
the first one is anyway
if they handwave OW being illegal in OW2
that'll be THE biggest disappointment for me
cause it's a huge fucking plot point - along with it being shutdown
and i dont trust blizz at all rn to write it in correctly
i think ow being illegal is fucking badass
they should keep it that way at least for a while
Zarya could leave temporarily
It’s not like Russia has no army besides zarya
Pharah would totally leave permanently too
wasn't zarya supposed to do something for that woman from the infiltration cinematic?
Helix is a security group that basically was the replacement of Overwatch after they were shut down. But that said, Pharah has some bad blood towards her mother, which we will learn more about in issue #2 on New Blood. Hopefully, things can be worked out.
That said though, there’s also the fact that Overwatch activity is deemed illegal, so kinda hard for Pharah to join them, completely going against Helix, depending on what we learn there.
Leader or not, she’s still apart of security group that is legal while Overwatch is illegal.
yeah overwatch being illegal can be a big problem for the people that could join it
but in ow2 cinematic, in the end
the police officer asked winston whether ow is back? and he said yes
that is very weird
That’s because not everyone thought OW deserved to be disbanded. But a majority of people on the other hand thought otherwise. Mostly believing that OW was abusing it’s position and power. Think of what happened in CA: Civil War
Then there’s D.Va and Zarya. Hana is apart of a group that are constantly fighting a war against the Gwishin and have few resources to spare. Especially their best, which is Hana. Zarya though, Russia didn’t work so well with Overwatch during the First Omnic Crisis, so why would they work with them now? Especially letting Zarya join them?
While I’m sure it would be up to Fareeha, Hana, and Zarya to join Cassidy, they will have to think about their friends, comrades, and homes. A decision that will not be easy to make for any of them.
Though, Fareeha’s case being that she appears to have some grudge against her mother, I’m sure she’ll work through it if Cassidy can get them together. But as the end of the comic stated, that won’t be easy when they get attacked
Speaking of the New Blood comic series, who you think Talon is gonna send after Cassidy? Reaper, Widowmaker, or Sombra. Probably Reaper since he knows how to deal with him
They just saved her life I doubt the cop would be upset that she’s alive
talking about hana
so that's a boat or something? and she's there along with dae-hyun 24/7 protecting the city?
another question, is where is the rest of the meka squad? my guess would be that they protect the other sides of the sea or the city inside? but how come then, dva cannot call them for help? like in cinematics - or maybe it would just take too long for them to arrive since they defend the other sides which are probably far away?
idk about reaper, he fucks up every mission
talon already sends its agents after him and ana in the comics right?
you know it could also be moira
or maybe doomfist himself?
Doomfist wouldn’t waste his time going after people. He has an entire army essentially for that. And Reaper doesn’t fuck up anything. He failed one mission because of Winston’s presence and his team being idiots. Another mission was because of Sombra purposefully getting them caught. And what happened with one mission, he didn’t expect Ana to appear and save Jack.
Second, Moira isn’t a field agent. She and Sigma no doubt stay in labs at Talon’s hideout.
Need I remind you Reaper knows McCree because he’s the one to take him in from the Deadlock Gang and more than likely train him to be a soldier. I even think he was Gabriel’s second in command on Blackwatch.
it's a building built on pilings out in the water, because the Gwishin always attack from the sea
the rest of MEKA was recovering from their last battle
the Gwishin aren't attacking constantly - they attack once, then retreat for a while to build a new strategy
that's why nobody was there to help D.Va, they didn't expect another attack
then Reaper would know what Cassidy is capable of, and wouldnt want to be the one to fight him
This is Reaper we’re talking about. He’s bound to learn from his mistakes in the past. Hence why he was working with Widow and Sombra to try and kill a high priority target or with just Widow to kill Winston and Tracer.
It would be ironic that it be Reaper and Widow going after both Cassidy and Ana. Both tying up loose ends.
i don't think reaper is scared of anything or anyone tbh, he probably doesn't care, you can't kill him anyway
in the animated short Infiltration, Sombra says to Volskaya in her blackmail "I'll be in touch...", do you think Sombra will be able to recruit some of Volskaya's giant Mech suits to work with Talon?
nah, they can't work with talon, it is their target
the problem with having a hero for an enemy is that
like
reaper cant honestly kill a hero off
maybe damage them a la widow to ana but nothing else realistically i feel
yeah tbh
i wonder how they will evolve lore if no one can die or be seriously injured
only thing that happens in the end is that it makes Talon look like a bunch of dumbasses
is like endless battle or something?
which is a shame cause Talon is cool
who has died in canon so far hmm
Mondatta ofc
yeah but he isn't a hero
uhh
no yeah Im just thinking/comparing
cuz if any of hero will die in lore, it would be hilarious to have them in the game, right?
the only heroes that could realistically die is Soldier or Reaper imo
Ehhhhh
I could also see them killing someone off but keeping them as a playable hero
who knows
it would just be weird
it would buuut
there's precedent kinda
You know how some interactions between two characters before a match starts right?
also reaper can't die i think
some of them are canon
some aren't
some are what-ifs
yeah
it's a chore
Hell Doom wasn't even gonna be playable at all (or a character?) until the fanbase cried out for him
idk if that's related but I find it interesting
Wait no
what else could Sombra be thinking of in the blackmail?
I think Doom was created for the Gauntlet
something like that
It's likely for her own uses. She isn't exactly working with talon. She's in talon for her own gains
At least thats what it seems like
I don't mean out of fear, more out of respect
i don't think reaper has respect for anyone now, he hates all overwatch members and mcree is one of those, hell he is the one who gonna bring overwatch back together. reaper wants to kill soldier and ana and they were his best friends, like family, so I don't think he has any feelings toward mcree
in the game he says "looks like you're going back on my list" or something
and if ana going against him, I don't think he will have any mercy for her
interactions aren't that reliable - on Volskaya, Doomfist will say "this time I'll make sure we don't fail", even though canonically he was glad the mission to assassinate Katya Volskaya failed
I don’t know about that, though we do know that they were severely injured after the attack of the giant Gwishin from the sea, leaving D.Va to protect Busan with dae-hyun followed by another attack by smaller versions of it (if I remember right) one week after, so how it was left off in the cinematic, we know that her team must still be severely injured if only a week as passed since the giant gwishin, but we don’t know how much time has passed for D.Va since the cinematic.
If you mean where the rest of the squad would be positioned if they weren’t injured, I would say they would be either all in the same place, or like you said, positioned at different spots next to the ocean. There are 5 total members so if they are close enough to one another then they should be able to pair up as duos and fight them depending on size of the threat, or meet up eventually together
where does he say that he is glad about their failure?
From masquerade
A talon leader who takes over control of some operations while doomfist is in prison
(Dooomfist throws him off a bridge later in this comic)
No problem! Comic link is here if you want to check it out again https://static.playoverwatch.com/media/comics/13/en-us/comic-overwatch-masquerade.pdf
Masquerade is one of the best comics
thank youuu, i was wondering if there are any talon comics for a while
Is Ashe albino ?
she might be, it's never really said
well she has dark eyebrows, which would be white if she was albino right?
she could be a designer baby
whats that?
A child created to be "perfect"/just the way parents want them to be genetically, using tech
ah, well that would make sense seeing as she has rich parents
they could have picked to have her born with white hair and red eyes
or she could just be the pop culture version of an albino person
They turned red when she became evil because that's how eyes work
Really doubt thats the case
Ashe has red eyes
Also, if someone wants to argue timelining
That second picture takes place the morning of that first picture.
Like, hours earlier
i think it's just lightning
like in case with reaper, i mean gabriel reyes in that cinematic, forgot its name?
he has brown eyes, then olive out of nowhere
I think your talking about retribution
yeah
thank you
that's different
Reyes' eyes actually change colour in the scene, and there's a plausible explanation for it
I think its either an editing error or Its the effect of Moira's experiment
Then I'd say it was Moira's doing then but thats just a theory
that's the theory I agree with
does anyone know what B.O.B stands for?
Big Omnic Butler
i think
Thx
Do yall think dva is too young (shes 19) to be endorsing alcohol? im reffering to her posters seen in the spawn ships
Just thinking of the fact that its right on the line
Wait yeah your right lol
The bottle shape and alchohal advertisement style made me think otherwise and forget about Nano Cola
Is soldier gay?
yes
oh no
?
Sounds like you do
not really
Lol
are you interested?
!!movingon
Moving swiftly onwards
Can reaper die?
But he can feel pain right?
yeah
we've seen him be defeated by Winston, but not killed obviously, he just retreated in his smoke / wraith form
he has also taken on giant mecha suits in Volskaya Industries so I'd assume it's fairly difficult to kill Reaper
also worth noting that things like sleep darts seem to just not work on him due to not being a regular living human
i would be surprised if physical damage could ever really do anything to him, seems like you would need something weird like biotics or electricity to do any kind of lasting damage
when he gets slammed by the mech in Infiltration, he seems to be more smokey/having trouble staying corporeal
physical damage could just make it harder/impossible to keep human form, so he just reverts to a cloud of cells
yeah that kind of thing is what i was imagining
possibly a similar situation happens in old soldiers too
Don't think so. He aparantly survived complete vaporization. Though Its possible he turned to wraith form before it happened
he looks too hot in his formal outfit to not be gay (a wish come true)
Jack
Ok
When will the next cassidy comic come out?
probably December
Ok thx
Cassidy is a stupid name cause it’s so hard to retcon
The name change isn't a retcon.
this name change isn't a retcon
it's the same as Gabriel Reyes being called Reaper now
but his name in the past won't change
they won't but they aren't erasing its use in the past so it's still not a retcon
if it was a retcon, they'd redo all the old lore to update the name
Still a retcon
It's not.
retcon means retroactive continuity - things changed in the present affect the story that has already happened
that's not the case here
his name was still canonically Jesse McCree for ~20 years
it doesn't matter if that name doesn't ever get used again
it does likely mean we won't get anymore lore about those years, so they can avoid using that name
pov: your still arguing abt the mccree name chnage
Who knew Dr. Liao? Overwatch Agents in general or specifics like Ana/Soldier
Overwatch agents in general would have known her
she was one of the founding members
so she'd be as known as any of them
What does the symbol on Mcrees belt with the Xiake skin mean? Anybody know?
What's the deal with Sigma hearing a melody in his head?
he's got brain damage
a lot of people have theories that it is, but there's no evidence of that
They mention it way too much for it to be something small
the explanation that we have is that he has brain damage from being exposed to a black hole, and that makes him hallucinate music
it's also likely a reference to the Music of the Spheres, a hypothetical rhythm that the universe abides by
The musica universalis (literally universal music), also called music of the spheres or harmony of the spheres, is a philosophical concept that regards proportions in the movements of celestial bodies – the Sun, Moon, and planets – as a form of music. The theory, originating in ancient Greece, was a tenet of Pythagoreanism, and was later develop...
Just to be sure, the "melody" and him saying the universe sings to him is the same thing?
yes
Neat
talking about sigma, is he being controlled by talon
because he is insane, right? so he cannot be responsible for his actions, talon could use that and manipulate him or control him to get him on their side
Insane is the incorrect word to use here
But Talon is manipulating him.
He doesn't know that he is working for the bad guys. They just busted him out of an asylum.
Well, asylum is the wrong word maybe.
He was in some government facility that quarantined him and kept him locked up so that he wouldn't harm anyone, because he couldn't control his powers
He was broken out and Talon helped him gain control of his power
Sigma doesn't know he's still a prisoner under Talon
I’m honestly not sure if Sigma will hold much significance in OW2, but I guess it depends on whether Talon would use his skills in his scientific field or use him as a weapon without him realizing it.
Do you think they use sigma as a construction worker cause he can control gravity which lets him move impossibly heavy objects
antigravity tech and hard light are already things that exist, i don't think they need sigma for that
a possible connection could simply be a null sector or talon unit that is inspired by him, or uses his technology
it does seem unlikely that he would turn up in the story as a character though
does anyone know if immortality field is even mentioned in the lore? most of the other supports' kits fit what they have in the lore but immortality field is random
I think it did ger mentioned in baptistes short story
it exists but it seems to work quite differently, this is what it says in what you left behind
The prototype device hummed in the air, emitting a protective field of energy around him. It was the only thing that had kept him alive.
unclear if it's hard light or something else
I think it just protects beings in its area
In gamebit does the same
But only so that they don't die
in the story i get the implication that the field protects itself too
but in the game it obviously doesn't
Well, given how it’s supposed to protect him from a highly volatile explosion, Baptiste should’ve been blown out of his immortality field from the force at least. So it sounds to me more like a protective barrier instead of how it looks in game
That’s just what it sounds like to me, but that way of thinking is due to knowing that things from lore and from game differ
to give it a sci-fi explanation, the device emits an inertia-dampening field
which reduces lethal force to non-lethal force
Well, we may find out since Cassidy is recruiting for Overwatch. While we’ve seen Fareeha, Hana, and Zarya, we could also see Baptiste too and since Talon is tracking down Cassidy to kill him I can just see them wanting to take out their traitor too. People on the run can’t run forever after all
So, we could see Baptiste use his immortality field if that is indeed something that could happen. Maybe even see Mauga again
I feel like they'll be forced to give lore explanations for many abilities in the ow2 missions
I’m more curious about that ability change that has yet to be confirmed or denied for Mercy. While I can understand changing her res, I’m not completely sure if it’s to match what she did in Zero Hour or just something to nerf her. Or both
Yeah, but I mean instead of bring fallen teammates back, it heals them faster like it did Mei. I don’t know, I think it was only a name for an ability, but no description to it.
Like I said though, it might not be real.
Mei was incapacitated
Mercy brought her back
she even said the resurrect voice line
also that's not even close to what the proposed replacement ability is
the replacement ability would be more like
Here is what the leak was. While it’s still unconfirmed, that doesn’t mean it’s not a possibility.
Angelic Blessing will see Mercy players sending a soul to their teammates, which can be used by the targeted player to fly back to a teammate. This would see heroes like Genji that dive behind enemy lines being able to move to safety quickly, and it could be used to exfil a Reinhardt after a risky charge. While the flight will go away if not activated in six seconds, giving players a tight window to use the soul Mercy gives them, it certainly sounds interesting.
sounds like it's giving a teammate one use of Mercy's guardian angel
not healing them
Maybe, but we can only wait and see if and when Blizzard ever decides to show off new abilities and designs.
Imagine thinking incap = dead
I'm not sure who you're responding to here, but no one was saying dead
leak
The only leak this week was the mobile Overwatch title
Whatever that will be
I pointed out that Mei was incapacitated in Zero Hour, and Mei brought her back with Resurrect
if she was dead there would be no saving her, because that's not how Resurrect works
Resurrect is a burst of healing
From what I understand, we don’t really know if she use Resurrect in lore unless shown or stated
Question, Tracer and Genji once sparred with each other, do we know who won?
this is Resurrect
Tracer won by shooting him in the back iirc
She didn't "win"
But she did get behind him and shoot him, which impressed Jack
We didn't see if anyone "won"
That doesn’t really look like Resurrect she just put her hand on Mei and she was healed
it performs the same function as it does in the game
she even says the same voice line
You just cant hear it in the gif
the visuals might be different, but other abilities have different visuals in the game vs. the lore
Stand together.
When Null Sector attacks, Winston assembles a small strike team to fend off the invasion. But as hope begins to fade, the team must stand together to overcome the odds.

Cassidy doesn't glow like the sun when he uses "Deadeye" in Reunion, but every other cue is there
The outliers are shit like Winston's eyes getting electric
Because that was made by the cinematic team first
And then implemented into game
You can also see major visual differences with Genji's deflect from the same short
Or the Dragonblade
Or Mei's gun
Lots of things behave differently
Will say that not all ability audios are the same, like with D.va’s self destruct, and how in Overwatch world they can basically heal on a molecular level after complete disintegration? Even with Sigma who was ripped apart by a black hole would have some medical skills to fix him, so resurrection should not be that difficult for Mercy
I get that they can heal with their medical team, but wouldn't sparring still hurt and be really dangerous?
especially with tracer shooting and genji's shurikens
presumably they would not have actually done anything to significantly injure the other person because that's how sparring works
they're using the weapons they use in regular battles
it wouldn't look as cool if they weren't
Is hanzo no longer part of shimada clan?
No.
he left after "killing" Genji
On the wiki its said that hanzo's dragon is not magic. Is it like some tech cause it seems like magic to me
it's probably some form of hard light, like Symmetra uses
He wasn’t ripped apart, only his mind as affected by it
Reaper can survive disintegration, but he's a special case
hanzo said that only shimada can use dragons
idk how that is not a magic
if it was light, more people could use it, not only shimada's clan
could be proprietary technology
could have a DNA lock
or maybe Hanzo was just being dramatic
dna lock is already magic
No, its not.
biometric locks aren't magic
we have them already, with fingerprint and retina scanners
i don't see how it could have been dna lock in that way
We were explicitly told its not magic.
There is no magic in Overwatch
This is a sci-fi world.
And not the alien kind of sci-fi.
Its very grounded on Earth, 20 minutes into the future.
i guess that is why people try to find explanation for their ultimates, but it's hard to explain scientifically
It behaves near identically to Symmetra's hard light orbs
It's not realistic technology, but it is technology in-universe
I’m pretty sure according to pregame banter between characters that zarya is a traitor to her country but I might be mid remembering
You are

I’ll try to see if I can get that voice line again to see what it actually said then
Because now I’m curious
Katya may eventually be viewed as one due to her shady dealings with the omnics (even though it's ultimately for the furthering of her goals)
But Zarya is dedicated to the defense of Russia
The voice line does say it, but it comes from Sombra:
Sombra: Katya Volskaya and Aleksandra Zaryanova... Traitors to your own country. You deserve each other.
Zarya: I do what I must, for my people.
Sombra isn't exactly a reliable source
We’ll see 😼
A potential future storyline is that Katya's dealings get exposed and it takes everyone associated with her, including Zarya, down in the public's eye
But that still wouldn't mean Zarya is a traitor even if she's seen as one
Sure
Michael Chu stated that in an interview that his body and mind were literally ripped apart by the exposure to the black hole
And Reaper’s ability comes from Moira who has medical tech too
eh I get your point but I wouldn't take it literally
that was in opposition to having an actual mental illness
Reaper's is more due to her genetic restructuring
so the animatic with hanzo fighting dragon or genji fighting that demon in hanamura is that not canon?
It is, it's just not magic
If you mean Dragons that is
Don't think there was a demon in that
I can't seem to find that one. The genji one
so if dragons can exist why can't there be magic
I think I know the one you mean
it's a HOTS short
that one's not canon, no
because the dragons are hard light tech
Its the tattoo or dna lock
You mean the one with d.va?
yeah its not canon i guess
It isn't, it's a Heroes of the Storm short
that's got its own loose canon that involves magic
Ye thats where i was going
magic sounds way cooler though my childhood just got ruined
If overwatch is your childhood, you aren't old enough to be on Discord
I don't think there's a good explanation for it yet
or how he floats
But I don't even think we know if it's a canon ability for him to heal physical wounds
there is a voice line for that I think
I think all healing just uses mercy's nanotech
The healing we know the source of does
Zen's healing, if real, will probably be left an intentional mystery
If voice lines are anything to go off, it is in some capacity
Since Mercy asks him about it
But the point of it is that you can take it literally since they said literally, it is basically telling us what happened then.
Tbh in the short dragons were very weak
Like a gun would be way more effective
Hanzo wasn’t even incapacitated he just conceded because of his honour
Disagree. Looked like this.
Where's doctor six when we need her?
yes?
There is one form of healing Mercy is not responsible for. That is the passive regeneration of Jack and Gabriel.
As well as potentially any regenerative tech that Moira developed based off of Reyes' genes, but that enters the realm of speculation.
What is Mercy's nanobiotics are Ana's, Mercy's, Moira's, Soldier's and presumably Baptiste's Biotic weapons or skills.
Bastion cannot self-repair
Brig can't heal people by existing
Neither can Lucio's music
Roadhog's Take a Breather is not healing from wounds but is medication
And Zenyatta is an enigma
we don't know the nature of Zenyatta's healing - it could be physical healing, it could be psychological healing/therapy, it could be spiritual healing
Mei's cryostasis also doesn't literally heal either.
we haven't seen any examples of it, only the one mention from the voice line with Mercy
It's orb healing
I don't think you quite understand the question
If it’s zen it’s definitely mental
Zen just blesses people with heals and curses them with discord
curses and madness be upon you all
Pls explain rhe shimada dragon tech for everyone
Thank you
you didn't need me, you already had the answer
There were different theories on the page i needed to know which one was right
it's most likely similar to Sym's energy draining light tech
in-game it kills for pvp purposes
Still think the dragons are weak as shit and a gun would be much more effective
I kinda want to see Hanzo use a gun at some point
That would be so weird
considering genji and hanzo use swords and bows i dont think thats the point
well yeah but I moreso mean to anyone thats not a shimada its really not that good of a technique
its cool sure but a gun is like 30x faster
i mean you could also go off, genji wasnt trying to kill hanzo and weakened the dragons
I doubt genji has that much control over them, sure he can control them, but that probably moresos means moving them not changing their potency
