However, we're also working hard to make sure all of our platforms get the best experience, even in PvE. Switch is a little more challenging than some, and we'll have to make some compromises there. Its not because of Moira's experiment
Its reported that Reyes and Jack had a battle at the Swiss HQ. After this, both were thought to be dead.
Its also suggested that because of this, Reaper's body has been heavily mutilated.
But because of the experimentations he has gone through, from both Moira and the SEP, he is in a constant state of suffering that is keeping him alive.
The closest comparison would be Deadpool I'd say
Deadpool is constantly regenerating, but he's also in constant pain.
We don't know the specifics of Reaper's condition, but it sounds like its something along those lines

There is also the fact that the former leaders seemed to be generally well liked by the team, and withholding the fact that they are still alive would kind of make Mercy a bad friend.

In an interaction with mercy she says she doesn’t know how his healing works, so he must be able to heal somehow since the content of interactions is canon (even if the interaction itself isn’t).

I had Sigma in the new menu, and it seemed all normal, him doing his usual idle stance. But then, he looks super startled, like there was a loud bang. He starts looking off somewhere, wide-eyed, starts looking horrified, mouth hanging open, but then he seems to snap back into place, then resumes his idle animation.
I know about his brain damage and hallucinations, but I thought this was really interesting.
Defenetly reccomend trying to see it in the menu. I learned that you can refresh the menu to get a new character on the screen by going into a highlight and exiting.
