Yeah, and I'm all about that. But sometimes, great discoveries have been made by scientists outside of their chosen fields while investigating their chosen fields.
extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence
and so far you have provided none
I'm not shitposting and I resent that. Frankly, I'm not sure why you're being so hostile, Party Magician.
I have, many times, but you're always just like, "Nah, bro. Because nah."
I mean sources
actual lore sources
Things you came up with are not evidence.
I think we all know what we're talking about, I've alluded to Sombra's Infiltration cinematic, her other lore cinematic, Sigma's, etc.
you keep saying "Sigma discovered something" except he didn't
And several locations on various maps.
All of which are explained without aliens
He claims to have made extraordinary discoveries, he's obsessed. Obsessed with the melody he discovered.
Sombra was seen by something/someone, that does not conclusively mean aliens
He's obsessed with the melody because it keeps playing in his head
it could be a lot of things
You've had melodies keep playing in your head, too, Party Magician, but it didn't inspire you to weaponize cosmic forces.
several locations that reference aliens that are part of fiction within the OW universe
There's something special about the melody he discovered.
He tried to utilize the cosmic force before he got the melody stuck in his head
That's how he got it stuck
Right, and I connected that fact to another point I made about a possible cover up and the popularization of a bastardized version of the truth of alien life in OW.
which has no evidence
He can control gravity because he was successful in his research
It just came with side effects
it's a conspiracy theory
And that's perfectly in-keeping with Blizzard's past methods of foreshadowing and it would be brilliantly thematic, they're one-eyed and tentacular but they definitely look different from the caricatures seen in-universe. It most probably goes back to the days when Overwatch was being developed as an MMO. And I don't mean Crossworlds, I mean the Overwatch universe MMO.
how are aliens thematic to Overwatch?
Project Titan? Yeah
Here's a snippet from an older Kotaku article that's always stuck out to me.
"Elements from Titan were repurposed in Overwatch's earliest content. According to a Kotaku article, Titan was meant to be an MMO set in near-future Earth after fighting off an alien invasion. Players would do mundane jobs during the day and wage clandestine warfare against other factions at night."
But that's not Overwatch
Project Titan also had classes instead of heroes and bunch of other concepts that got dropped
It is. Among the other scrapped projects from Blizzard's attempts at creating a new sci-fi MMO, going from Star Craft to Crossworlds to Titan, the Overwatch lore we know today existed.
But many others that didn't get dropped, and others that were not seen at launch but eventually made an appearance.
The role of the aliens in Titan has been taken over by Omnics in Overwatch
Most probably not.
Quite literally yes
Instead of an alien invasion, the "big crisis before" is an Omnic uprising
Just like World of Warcraft has, not just the Burning Legion, but Old Gods and Hordes and many enemy factions threatening the world, Titan would most assuredly have had a similar ecosystem of villains.
It makes sense.
Overwatch isn't Titan
Titan would
Overwatch is not that
If your point is there could be aliens at some point in overwatch, then there's nothing anyone can say to dissuade you
It's the same world, we've just been served slices of it, not the whole cake.
You can't prove a negative
I'm not saying 'could.'
I'm saying aliens have been in Overwatch, and they are now in the form of hints, and most probably will be more than that in the future.
Titan's world had an alien invasion. Overwatch's didn't
it would be terrible writing for aliens to show up out of nowhere with no hints
I'm not saying that Overwatch's world has been overtly invaded by aliens, but when the Omnic threat has been dealt with, there will be a vacuum for a big bad villain faction.
Oh we'll get a ton more hints before they drop, for sure.
and no, there have not been any hints at the existence of aliens in Overwatch
nothing you have brought up is a hint at aliens
We've already gone over how there are, though.
If you're saying they will reveal them, you can't prove a negative either
they have other explanations
This is a pointless discussion.
i concur
the big bad will be Talon
There's precedents.
Talon
Talon and Null Sector are the villains.
So you think it'll be Talon after Omnics? I guess that could fit, but afterwards it should be Aliens.
What there "should" be is your personal opinion
You're right, I ought to have said, 'Probably will be' not 'should be.'
aliens are stupid
"probably" requires evidence
That would be wrong instead, then.
We've gone over tons of evidences.
No
I can go over them again but I think you'll just disregard them.
I think this is some kind of 'ego' trip on y'all's part.
You've gone over them enough.
this is like watching an alex jones video in real time
Moving swiftly onwards
Doubt it
sounds unlikely
i think it would be really funny
They sell oil products like whiskeys so they probably do have some form of perception for the quality of the products they take into themselves.
i wanna see bastion with a robot tongue hanging off like a gizzard
"Sigma discovered an alien intelligence" no, Sigma got brain damage and started hallucinating music
"Sombra was witnessed by aliens" no, Sombra was witnessed by an unknown observer
"Hollywood and Route 66 are cover-ups to hide the existence of aliens" do you know how insane that sounds?
doc pls
I'd love to continue this discussion
Please don't.
to be fair if sig didn't go insane we wouldn't have his banger schizo music
And I think the fact that you would point it out as sounding 'insane' is very rude and illustrates the bad faith I've been detecting from you very clearly.
Bad faith, disingenuousness and callous contrarianism.
For lore speculation? That's ludicrous.
orange name dude said stop
There is no more to be gleaned from this discussion.
I was tryna talk about omnic tongues and whiskey oil.
It's gone on for half an hour and all it amounted to was "yes" "no"
do you think omnics take oil baths or something
that would be funny
zenyatta bathtub emote
lored summed up
If you want to waste each other's time, feel free to do so in DMs, but don't waste anyone else's
eh it's usually alright
They bottle the oil like whiskey
i want an entire comic that just follows the daily life of some random omnic with the most basic white dude name ever
like
jake the omnic
I think they probably do consume it the same way then
Hah
twoud be humorous
This would actually be an interesting implication
ooh wait
Cause in London Calling there's been omnics who like
Took their names from things that inspired them
yea
In those cases being British rockers
omnic university or something
i'm betting they would exist
on the grounds of discrimation at regular colleges
I'm imagining an Omnic who saw an accountant and was like
"Hell yeah"
doc why do you just have every single ow voice line saved
omnic was used to carry drinks at a frat party and got inspired by head frat guy
wears khaki shorts and pink polos exclusively
I datamined the voice files
for research
Because in places where Omnics are persecuted, they wouldn't have the resources to build their own university
alright
And in places where they aren't they can go to human ones
do you think omnics can be punished under streaking laws
like
we see them wear clothes
but idk if that's a like
feeling human thing
or if it would be legally required
imagine an omnic streaking at a football game
Genji doesn't until OW2 and his armor reveals about as much
we've also seen them not wear clothes
A dynamic where Omnics would feel pressured to wear clothes in "human" spaces would actually be interesting
where was that
you can't shank the mfs
that sounds like a very plausible thing
If there's omnics in prisons they definitely have their own ones
or at least their own wings
With like
Faraday cages and whatnot
instead of batons the police just carry hoses in case of riots
spray it like a misbehaving dog
ah
Tracer gets jumped by a bunch of naked omnics at the end of LC1
well, would fit with my theory
omnic beards when
Since they're in an exclusively omnic space and are the type to resent human customs
yeah it does make sense they'd wear clothes around humans
although Kace's people are a mix - some wear clothes, some don't
imagine how much cheaper omnic "healthcare" is
it might be harder to find someone to give them a tune-up
depending on where they are
Hey Doctor_Six
I drew a picture of what Overwatch is gonna be like when the Aliens come
Do mcree and sombra hate each other. I know voice lines aren't cannon but in a game yesterday they were arguing about mcrees real name. He just said "my name ain't Joel, remember that "
it's a reference to his codename during development being Joel
Also this in universe: https://bit.ly/2XgY6Pi
I can’t imagine a lot of people like her, but I don’t think there’s any confirmed bad blood between them as of yet
has sombra met anyone in overwatch yet? seems like the only things ive seen are her doing stuff solo or with talon against politicians and randoms
im guessing shes met zarya after that extortion stunt she pulled
zarya and talon members are the only ones immediately coming to mind yeah
she and zarya had a confrontation in the searching comic
look at the comic yourself
comics are free
oh shit where are they posted
the only ones you need to pay for are the novels, hero of numbani and deadlock rebels or whatever
look in pins
^(link to the pinned message with the comics)
damn zarya is kind of a jerk
she inherently hates and distrusts all omnics
after seeing what the war did and is doing to her country I don’t blame her too much for seeing things the way she does at the moment
she hasn’t fully seen the potential for good in omnics, she’s only seen what has happened to her country
I think all the comics are great
going legit reminds me a bit of Calvin and Hobbes
lol thats a junkrat and roadhog comic iirc
sounds about right then
never trust a suit
good moral
I believe Sombra and Baptiste are good friends
she checks in on him ever since he left Talon
Really? That's really cool
was dead, but maybe it wasn’t. If Talon was coming for Dr. Ziegler, then she had a right to know. He’d need help tracking her down, but luckily, he knew just who to ask.
Baptiste opened an encrypted app on his phone, entered the password, and hit the call button on the
bottom of the screen. It only rang twice before a familiar voice came through the speaker. “Hey, mijo. It’s been a while.”
“Hey, Sombra,” he said, looking at Dr. Ziegler’s profile. “Can you do me a favor?”```
still funny that she calls him "mijo"
she's younger than him
It's great to know Sombra's got an actual friend that isn't blackmailed
Its her only friend, more or less
only friend that we know about
So mcree loves ashe
I like to think that their flirting is purely playful banter but I honestly don't mind if they get together
I think the opportunity for that has passed
Ashe won't forgive him for betraying the gang
That makes sense. Still up for more interactions between them in OW2
says who tf
Were they? I don't believe that at all
??
I feel like robots could just download information from the Internet
Possibly, but who knows, maybe they would rather be more human and go to school now that they're sentient
I don't even know if most Omnics are connected to the internet directly
probably not 100% directly due to hacking but I bet they can access it
I think in Hero of Numbani this might be somewhat brought up since (minor spoiler) ||Sombra hacks the Omnics in it||
Oh that's interesting
I haven't read the books but I don't mind spoilers
But now that you mention it maybe Omnic schools might just be so Omnics get experience rather than knowlege, since they can just look that up
No, they were not. Do not shitpost false lore.
In one of Sombra's interactions with Orisa, she actually hacks her
Fun Fact, Sombra is the only character with 2 different colours in her hair
Sombra really be counting to 3
1 - friend who didn't blackmail her
2 - hair colours
3 - accidental shots from a hanzo while invisible...
They're not a couple so I don't see how they're couple goals
besides the fact that macree betrayed their 'family' which by the 'family' rules is punishable by death
Don’t mean nun u can clearly see that Dey still like each other
i see a lot of evidence supporting the fact that ashe wants cree dead
Ashe has a love-hate feeling for McCree
McCree is not interested in Ashe as he says in their interaction
Anyone so ships Ashe and Mcree is the type of person who says “she was asking for it”
Jokes
How does soldier 76’s tactical visor work? Does his mask have some sort of internal link with his gun that tells it to aim at specific targets? Or is it just something that relys on soldiers aim and it’s just something that guides him a little?
It's a guidance/highlight system in his visor, we see the way it works in Hero
He still aims himself
it's kinda shitty if it also can only run for 8 seconds
I would assume it can run for as long as he needs it
The limitations are a gameplay feature
i dont think so...you can see the ult duration circle in the middle
during the cinematic
he also uses it in the comic Old Soldiers
where...you can see the ult duration circle
so i think it does run for 8 sec only
There's no telling for how long it goes in lore even if that circle is a "charge" indicator
either way, it doesn't last for long.
I just watched the cinematic in 0.25x speed.
The charge circle was full before he activated it.
It lasted enough to take down anyone he needed
That has nothing to do with the point im arguing.
It's not a relevant point
What?
What constitutes relevant...
it runs for around 8 seconds
his tactical visor
in canon
do you agree?
It doesn't matter
which is why the point is irrelevant
It does what he needs it to do
Even if it runs for a short burst like in-game, it makes him take down enemies in one shot each
I never said it was relevant to the plot of overwatch
we don't see how long it runs for
i was just arguing for the sake of argument
Yeah please don't do that
not exactly, but we know it runs for 8 sec
around 8 sec
what? that's what ppl do all the time tho
they argue about stuff like what genji's lights do
we don't, unless you make several assumptions
I'm allowed to do that
you guys have even joined in on these discussions yourself
meaningless discussions
People argue because they have an actual point they want to make
If you want to start arguments just to start arguments, don't
im not starting an argument...i have an actual point to make
but you disagreed
ok my bad i shoulda rephrased that
you disagreed
no, im the one who stated that his tactical visor lasts for around 8 sec
and you disagreed
dude just admit you were wrong about everything
ur a mod
jesus christ
i already apologized for that
for phrasing it poorly
his tactical visor lasts for around 8 seconds.
how is this different from arguing about what genji's lights do?
I told you twice how
remember this
Are you here just to start shit?
why does it matter how long tac visor lasts for
uh, i was just tryna prove that tactical visor lasts for around 8 seconds
if it ends he can just use it again
but am i correct though?
sure
part magician 2 am i correct?
it doesn't, i'll admit, but i just wanted to get the details right
If you're not here to start shit, then don't
lmao
i was never planning on starting shit
im sorry if i offended you in any way
but i was legitimately tryna see if his visor lasts for around 8 sec or not
Just like Tracer can blink as much as she wants Soldier never misses
wym by that
We don't have any canon evidence for how long it exactly lasts
But since one can't prove an "I don't know", then sure, believe what you will
i just gave you canon evidence
Soldier misses when plot demands it
Cooldowns and ultimates aren’t lore
the 2 times we've seen it in canon, it had an ult charge circle
it is, when it's literally displayed on his visor, in canon
and the ult charge circle lasted really short
if you see right when soldier activates it in heroes
it was fully charged
but it turned to this after a bit
is that enough evidence for you?
we don't see the full duration of the circle
we dont, but we can see that a quarter of the circle disappears after 2 seconds
so we can basically assume
that a full circle
would last for 8 seconds
is that reasonable to assume?
and then what? we don't know that it will end when the circle is full
you're making assumptions based on game logic
didn't you just agree with me 5 min ago
ok
that was so you'd stop arguing
Regardless
but, his visor turns off
if your actual point is it's "shitty", then no
because he gets one shot kills with it during those however many seconds
my point wasn't that it's shitty
my point is that it lasts for 8 seconds
but i did state it was shitty
Was it not
was it not what
fine i rescind that it was shitty if that's what you meant
but my argument was never actually directed at that
and i tried to get you to agree that it lasted for around 8 sec
are you kidding me?
"sure" isn't agreeing with you, it's conceeding
what else would it be for
what else would that circle be for
nothing
holy shit
it's to make it look like it does in the game
then why would it be canon?
why would they put an in game affect as canon
idk
regardless
even if it was made to look like ingame
that confirms that it exists in canon
that confirms that the ingame stuff is canon
this ingame effect
exactly you dont know
why does it matter
why do genji's lights matter
they don't
so why are you bringing that up now
you didn't bring "it doesn't matter" up when ppl were arguing what the lights did
you went along with it
I don't remember that
I remember it clearly
in fact
i thought it was stupid that ppl were arguing about it
so I was looking at the overwatch relationship web, and I know next to nothing about overwatch, I was hoping someone could explain some of the characters to me
why are you being so pedantic?
which is why i remember it clearly
The person who brought up genji's lights didn't turn it into a half hour long shitfight
what questions do you have?
We went along with you at first too
because you aren't agreeing with me bro
if you agreed with me i woulda stopped already
Okay, this conversation isn't going anywhere good
Stop, now.
I was wondering who those 2 people were (aside from roadhog) and why the top person has a dotted line connecting to hammond?
but im correct-
I'm not going to agree with you if I think you're wrong
Sure. Stop.
left is Junkertown Queen, right is Bruce
there's a dotted line because it's theorized that Bruce knows Hammond - Hammond build his mech in Bruce's workshop
The treasure is Junkrat and Roadhog's
you guys just won't admit you're wrong lmao it's honestly kinda sad
but they're bringing it to the Queen
The in-game Junkertown is basically reenacting the Plan
maybe it's 8 seconds, maybe it's not - there's no conclusive evidence either way
I see I see
but, like, if it doesn't go completely wrong because Junkrat is a dumbass
lol fair enough
you know what? you guys just keep saying no to the most obvious stuff because jeff kaplan himself didn't just explicity state, "yes, doctor six, this circle represents his ult duration". Soldier 76's tactical visor lasts for around 8 seconds, because you can see the ult circle in the both times it's shown canon. And in the hero cinematic, it decreases rapidly.
I thought I told you to stop?
oh also I forgot to ask but what is bruce's connection to roadhog?
Hog buys his gas from him
ah I see
and as he does they talk like they're on friendly terms, with Bruce apparently being one of the few in the town Hog trusts
that interaction is in Wasted Land
Yeah
checks out
He goes with him because he makes the 50/50 deal on their loot but he doesn't actually trust/get friendly
ah kk, yeah makes sense
I do have more questions, but I'll ask em later
thanks, see ya guys
so I dont know if this was asked already, but does soldier's visor automatically aim for him?
The dude was trying to say your question was "pointless"
In ALL of overwatch, not the organization but the whole game, which character would most likely have the best aim? I’m feeling like it’s Ana or mcree, prob wrong though.
Widowmaker
Widowmaker is better than her at this point
Ana was a top sniper before she lost her eye
McCree is a crack shot with a handgun, but probably not as good with a rifle
I see.
didn't ana teach mcree how to shoot?
in one of the voice lines im pretty sure it says that ana taught mcree
i wasn't trying to say your question was "pointless"
junkrat is an explosives wizard but to do that he would need some general mechanical and possibly chemical skills. does he demonstrate that has these? Or can he only apply technical skills to things that explode?
Well, he thinks he does at least, if his Oasis line is any indication
But so far we haven't sen any
This one I mean
He's a savant when it comes to explosives, moronic in any other area.
It’s probably a lot easier to make explosives in the future
Plus that’s literally his job
Making explosives
I mean not really but
There’s really nothing more to his life than exploding shit
And yeah it’s probably a lot easier to make primitive explosives in the future ig
Nah, Junkrat is actually just smart.
Born somewhere else, he would probably be a scientist or chemist. Or professional bombsmith/demolitionist
But he was raised in Junkertown
Tbh that’s just kinda depressing
This is so true..if he werent so crazy or chaotic tho
how does the lore explain that the whole point of overwatch is to fight the robot things but for the whole game we just fighting clones of each other
If you want a game where in game is actually canon
Play valorant
Well at least the concept of fighting clones

Hi I’m new here
I’m just wondering how long Soldier 76s tactical visor actually Lasts
Like In the lore
I think Soldier can probably hit headshots and never miss forever
Cause he’s like a super soldier and he probably doesn’t miss
And his tac visor is more of a targeting program that helps him
Cause like bullets that just hit their mark for 8 seconds (or whatever) sounds dumb
Naw that ain’t it
ana was better than widow before she lost her eye right
it was just the fact that she hesitated
yes
did ana get the same serum thingy that soldier and reaper got or did she just get that eye thing
isnt she like 80
i dont think she joind ow from the us but idk maybe i forgot
She's 60
And no, she isn't a super soldier.
The Soldier Enhancement Program was America's response to the omnic crisis, and Ana is Egyptian.
yeah ana is just an amazing sniper
the only confirmed super soldiers are reaper and soldier
@next imp Its just a targetting array, its nothing special.
I can tell you!!!
around 8 seconds
If you see clearly in the "heroes" cinematic
when he first activates tac visor, it's fully charged
but
you can see the ult duration circle in the middle of the tac visor in the cinematic
meaning that the ingame ult duration circle is actually canon
anyway
it's fully charged when he activates it the first time
but after 2 seconds of slow mo, you can see a quarter of the circle disappear
in the old soldiers comic, you can also see the ult duration circle
so that answers your question
@next imp
it lasts as long as the plot needs it to
Ur right about that, soldier can pretty much clean everyone up in 8 seconds

What’s the eyeroll for?
don't ping me, I'm right here
@finite urchin No not speead misinformation
No not speead
Your 8 seconds fact is not a fact
Why can you see the ult circle in the cinematic?
Never said exactly 8 seconds either, i acknowledged that, i said around 8 sec
Then answer me, why can you see the ult circle in the cinematic
Same reason you don't see it in the comic
You dont?
Lemme see
What, are you crapping me you do see it
That’s exactly why im arguing this point
If it didnt show up in the comics
I woulda conceded already
But it does show in the conics
Comics
The ult circle charge
And your reason to believe is a timer is what
What is it for then?
Isn’t it totally valid and human and logical to assume it’s a timer
That’s just pulling at strings now
No, because that would mean its a less than worthless piece of gear
A targetting matrix that works for only 8 seconds?
That's ridiculous
Like party magician said, that’s more than enough time for him
That means he doesn’t need more time
8 seconds is enough
The story development team takes the UI for these things from game so that the viewer can easily recognize what it is, visually
Still, i doubt theyd ever introduce anything that would actually effect the canon abilities of someone
So the notion that it's a timer is daft
Especially as the circle doesn't progress in the comic
But if we’re also arguing that they make it so that it’s recognizable to ppl playing the game
Then that means the circle is actually there to mimic the timer
Yes, it's mimicking what the players see as a timer
Look at high noon
McCree can't summon a tumbleweed
Actually ur wrong about that too
But they had one in the short
The timer isnt even static in rhe comic
It’s really, really hard to see
But when he activates it in the panel from the looming perspective
Overshadowing the guy he hit with a rifle
The timer is full
The next panel
Shows the timer half gone
Sigh, 1 sec
:)
Image number 1 - The circle appears to turn yellow from white as time passes, similar to in game. Each diamond is filled over ~1/8th of the circle's progressions.
Image number 2 - The circle has 0 fill at all from the rear side, its a pure white circle. There are also 0 diamonds visible in it.
Image number 3 - The circle is significantly larger, and is 3/4s white, 1/4 nothing.
Image number 4 - The circle is less than half white, with the rest as blank space.
Image number 5 - The circle is in the exact same position as before but mirrored, except now there is suddenly a diamond in sight, as well as a compass. There was not a 1/8th circle progression for the diamond to appear
Also on that 5th one, its the only one of the 5 pictures to feature the compass, something not even visible in game. It also has a line attatching the target to the core.
Through this, we can determine absolutely nothing about how the UI works
Its inconsistent even throughout the exact same piece of lore, let alone across different ones.
It’s inconsistent
There is just as much proof to say its a timer as there is to say its the battery.
Honestly, I think it’s insane to call it a battery, i think it’s more of a cooldown thing
Ive had a phone that, every time you turn it on, the battery starts at 100% then rapidly decreases until it gets to the actual %.
Where he can use it for 8 sec before waiting to use it again
That’s…a weird phine
Phone
What model
Not one of these sources support the theory you are proposing
That its a cooldown representation
Because its never visible when its off
Headcanon just adding on
You know what
I’ll get back to this
But i have to work on my chem honors homework
I don’t know why this didn’t get enough attention but it clearly hints at a new hero https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/news/23608156/correspondence-post-for-toshiro-yamagami/
It’s back from when Kanezaka came out
But wonder who it could be. there’s three different characters in this “teaser” that it could be hinting at
it got a lot of attention when it came out
it matches up with one of the four silhouettes Game Informer saw back in 2019 when OW2 was announced - there was a female hero with a 4-bladed weapon and a fox-like pet
now we get a hint about the Yamagami, a family of swordsmiths/sword masters who have ties to the fox shrine in Kanezaka
I think it's most likely to be Asa Yamagami, the woman who was Genji and Hanzo's swordmaster
a support that uses a sword would be interesting
And hopefully the entire thing is explained better in the story mode
better explained?
Yeah, Hanzo’s storyline I mean
I’m a bit confused on the lore surrounding him and that town
the town is next to the castle where Hanzo lived
I'm surprised Zenyatta and Widowmaker don't have any interactions together
@worthy rose Based on prior patterns, we probably went hear about that again until BlizzCon the earliest
These map based teasers usually only come to fruition about a year after their debut
Sombra, Moira, and Hammond are the best examples of this, debuting one year after they were first teased
its gonna be a dps because thats all blizzard wants to make
they've made the same number of supports as damage heroes since launch, and only one less tank
they've been making all classes of hero equally
Including Echo, we have gone from 6-7-5-3 to 9-8-8-7
They've added more support heroes than anything else
That's including the defence category that lasted up until they added the first defence hero in Ashe.
brig with dragonblade
Woof
Think about it like food.
Tanks are salt
Dps protein
Healers are barely
Healthy
how are tanks salt lmao
This is definitely not a lore discussion
sorry :c
so i know orb of discord and harmony are non canon, but is zenyatta flinging orbs into heads canon?
he does have metal orbs (they're for meditation), and he is known to defend himself if necessary
so it's plausible that he might use the orb as a weapon
I expect only one DPS
Sojourn
I mean they’ll only be adding a couple of heroes to my understanding
Hopefully blizzard only adds one or two dps because rn the support meta is stale asf
Sojourn is already confirmed as a DPS
So yeah I don’t expect more than her
If they do I’ll just be disappointed
!!shitposting @mighty vigil
@mighty vigil Shitposting will result in a loss of access.
I expect an equal number of each role, but that's straying away from lore
Of the potential heroes so far
Junkerqueen is a gladitorial mech champion.
Mauga is a heavy assault unit
Asa Yamagami is a sword master, and her daughter presumably would have picked up her craft.
Based on existing heroes, I would guess those 3 are tank/tank/dps
If you want to talk about new heroes and their gameplay roles, at least keep it related to the lore.
For example: Mauga being based on the heavy assaults, the Talon Tank units, as well as originally being the concept for the first Talon Tank, make it extremely likely that he will be a tank.
my argument for Yamagami (mother or daughter) being support comes from their family being the caretakers of the Fox shrine (miko-type characters typically fill support roles)
and if the daughter is one of the vigilantes like the community speculates, she would have the same sort of protector role in her community that Lucio has
JunkerQueen's origin definitely jives with the "brawler" style of tanks they're leaning towards
and Mauga is literally a Talon Heavy
Agree with the first two, but the Japanese hero should be a support based on the last part of the letter released with Kanezaka
“I will close on the lighter note that I promised and say that I know if you were here you would remind me, ‘The kitsune can change your luck with a flick of even one of her tails.’ May she flick all nine of them and send some much-needed good fortune our way.”
I assume the flick of the tail implies something to do with healing
And the flick of the 9 tails pretty clearly hints at it being an ultimate ability
Also, considering the order in which heroes have been released (Support-Tank-DPS) I assume her to be up next and I would go as far as saying she might be released before OW2
it could just be flavour text
Maybe
also there isn't a pattern in the roles released
support - [offense] - tank - [offense] - support - support - tank - [defense] - support - tank - damage
they have also confirmed that we will not be getting any more heroes before OW2
Sadge
anything being worked on now is being made using the new engine, and it would be a waste of resources to backport a new hero
miko-type characters typically fill support roles
I can think of more examples of the opposite
Than examples of supportive mikos
And the only supportive example I can think of is Fire Emblem
tracer is lesbian
yes, and?
I'm honestly excited for a character like Mauga. Since there's usually an origin story released alongside a new character. Possibly some more insight into him.
I'm really curious about Yamagami
her background could give us more insight into what life was like for Genji and Hanzo growing up (if it's the mother, she was their teacher; if it's the daughter, she's probably around their age and might have been friends with them)
Yeah
Then possible in-game interactions between genji and hanzo
If they still have those in overwatch 2
Like with her with the two
@limpid agate Good observation but I still think that the luck line hints at some sort of ability
Beyond that, it’s anyone’s guess what it could be and what role she could belong to
It could very well be a team-based ability that doesn’t have anything to do with healing
In case there is any confusion
The Kitsune isn't real
And even if it was, Yamagami isn't the Kitsune
mechanically, im going to guess either damage resistance or autocrit damage
to represent luck
who tf is mauga? their adding a second character alongside sojourn with ow2 release?
Mauga is Baptiste's friend from "What You Left Behind"
and who tf is yamataki
Yamagami is from the letter that came out as a teaser for Kanezaka
oh
you can find all the lore in the pins
genhis sister?
no
genji*
Light yagami?
tracers brother?
Asa Yamagami was Genji and Hanzo's swordmaster
tats zenyarta
she taught them swordfighting when they were kids
zenyata taught genjo
Zenyatta came much later
Oh
after Genji left Overwatch
who "killed" genji
Hanzo
zenyatta walked in i think an ow2 development stream
Upon the death of his father, the clan elders instructed Hanzo to straighten out his wayward younger brother so that he, too, might help rule the Shimada empire. When his brother refused, Hanzo was forced to kill him. This act broke Hanzo's heart and drove him to reject his father's legacy, ultimately leading him to abandon the clan and all that he had worked so hard to attain.
didnt genji get kicked out the shemada clan?
Following the clan leader's untimely death, Genji's older brother, Hanzo, demanded that Genji take a more active role in their late father's empire. Genji refused, enraging Hanzo. The tension between the brothers built to a violent confrontation that left Genji on the verge of dying.
dayum
is there any hero who has kids other than ana since i know she had pharah and torb and brig
Ana has Pharah
Torb has Brig and other children
Reyes had a family (details unknown)
I don't think released along with sojourn, though it is a possibility
anyone else think the ow storyline should be a movies series so heros origin story (before joining their group so like OW, talon, blackwatch etc and after (if they did) left ow) and then a main story line on how ow was formed and loads of story that we havent had yet
including their family life for certain heros
all of the post-launch heroes have origin trailers
plus Tracer and Soldier
it would be nice to get those for the other 19 heroes
tracer was a pilot right and she tried making a teleporter or time travel thing for an aircraft but it went wrong and then winston made the thing on her titties right?
Tracers Origin Story
I have no rights on this video. Its from Blizzard Entertainment at Gamescom were they announced it.
wait so why tf is widow blue ive never actually asked this
She was given extensive training in the covert arts, and then her physiology was altered, drastically slowing her heart, which turned her skin cold and blue and numbed her ability to experience human emotion. Amélie was gone.
ooo
what about hammond im curious on how a hamster got himself an oversized ball

ah
so thats where people got the name hammond from
what made widow obsessed with spiders? i think its in the story where she is fighting tracer while trying to kill zenyattas look alike (who is he btw)
the "Zenyatta look alike" is Mondatta, leader of the Shambali
whats the shambali? is that a group of zenyatta look alikes?
they're a religious order that believes omnics have souls
ah
Zenyatta was one of them, but he disagreed with their methods so he left on a pilgrimage
after he left is when he found Genji and helped him find inner peace
how did genji meet zenyatta?
But as time passed, Genji felt increasingly at war with himself. He was repulsed by the mechanical parts of his body and could not come to grips with what he had become. When his mission was complete, he abandoned Overwatch and wandered the world in search of meaning. He drifted for many years before crossing paths with the omnic monk Zenyatta. Though Genji initially rejected Zenyatta's wisdom, the benevolent omnic would not be deterred. In time, Zenyatta became his mentor, and under the monk's tutelage, Genji reconciled his dual existence as both man and machine. He learned to accept that although he had a cyborg body, his human soul was intact, and he came to see his new form as a gift and a unique strength.
ah
sorry if im asking alot of questions i want to learn more about the heros and their story line
the best way to learn is to read the hero bios and watch the shorts
you can find links to them in the pins
she might be
ah
Alejandra (the little girl) is the one who gave Zarya Sombra's real name - it's speculated that Alejandra knew her name because Sombra is a friend
where does this info come from?
(dotted lines on the relationship map represent theorized relationships)
there's a lot of flirting between them in voice lines
ah
ah
i get it
and did the woman that sombra, widow and reaper were trying to get in that one mission ask zarya to help her with sombra?
Reinhardt is Brigitte's godfather
Zarya has already had character development, we will most likely see even more
If she joins overwatch in ow2
she was a white knight for Volskaya - Sombra's information changed Zarya's thoughts on her
^
I’d imagine if she did join overwatch it would be because she doesn’t want to be a tool
but Moira being a major catalyst for the fall of Overwatch isn't because of her personality
it's because of her actions
How do you guys think mcree lost his arm after blackwatch?
I used to think he ran afoul of another gang, but that's probably not it
knowing him, he was probably trying to save someone and ended up losing his arm
There's some stuff I read on the internet which said junkrat and Cree got arrested together and junkrat used explosives to destroy their handcuffs which is why both of them are missing an arm
Seems unlikely tho
Also some stuff about genji cutting it off during blackwatch?
he lost it after Blackwatch, so that's not it
and McCree has never met Junkrat, that's just fanfiction
people like to make up answers for things - don't trust anything unless it comes from an official source
So, which is more recent in the lore timeline? The Zero Hour animated short, or the prologue to Storm Rising?
Zero Hour
the prologue to Storm Rising happened 6 years ago
rough timeline of the last 15 years:
-15: Mercy joins Overwatch
-12: Hanzo almost kills Genji, Genji is saved by Overwatch
-9: Ecopoint Antarctica is hit by a polar storm, Mei's team goes into cryostasis
-8: Retribution
-7: Uprising
-6: Storm Rising/Ana goes MIA/Jack and Gabe fight and blow up the HQ
-5: Overwatch disbanded
0: Recall
+1: Zero Hour
The prologue to Storm Rising is implied to be 6 years ago
Okay, but as far as the player base is concerned, we still don't know the events of what happened with Maximilian, his contact, as well as Doomfist and the mysterious Omnic?
Maximilian seems to be an opportunist, so I can assume he's still cooperating with his captors long after Overwatch has disbanded. I'm very curious as to what he's been up to since the Storm Rising prologue.
Why would that be any time soon
And it was not just implied. The devs stated as much later.
Okay, but as far as the player base is concerned, we still don't know the events of what happened with Maximilian, his contact, as well as Doomfist and the mysterious Omnic?
What do you mean by this?
Max and his contact?
The timeline is:
- Storm Rising
- Max gives up Doomfist
- Doomfist Origins flashback
- 6 years pass since he is in jail
- Masquerade
Maximilien was interrogated, and he gave them Doomfist's location in Singapore

So where in the timeline does Doomfist meeting with that mysterious Omnic in Anubis fit with the rest of the story?
three weeks later, Genji, Tracer and Winston fight and capture Doomfist
... 6 years ago
Wait
When you said prologue
Did you mean epilogue? Because that's what I meant
THe prologue was obviously 6 years ago. Its imemdiately before Storm RIsing, which was also 6 years ago
Like, minutes before
Doomfist meeting with the mysterious omnic happens at the same time Maximilien is captured by Overwatch
I would assume that Maximilien is released shortly after his interrogation
I personally doubt that someone like Max would be released, especially after working with an organization like Talon
he's free as of Masquerade, which is after Recall in the present day
I assume even after Overwatch is gone, he would be taken custody by somebody other than OW.
he's operating his own casino
He was free 6 years ago too.
Maximilien isn't a high priority target
he's kinda just the money guy for Talon, not one of the decision makers
Brings me back to when people theorized that Max would be a new hero
When there were such things as new heroes
there will be new heroes in OW2
yeah, and ow2 will release, sure
Will this dude be a hero?
CHONKY shoulders
could be a brawler type
we'll definitely learn more about him though - he seems to represent Null Sector
Are you just snarking for the sake of snarking
Or do you have something constructive to add to the conversation?
No no he’s got a point
No, he doesn't.
Why does mei cry when Moira says she’s interesting In her work
Because that's not what Moira asks
Moira: Dr. Zhou. I'm interested in your colleagues' research into the long term effects of cryogenic freezing.
Mei: Well... yes... I'm sure... m-maybe... *soft crying*
How much of Genjis body is machine/ technology and how much of it is actually human? And would this ratio be the same for his black watch skin, as he seems to cover up much less in his black watch suit, revealing more human looking parts.
a zen origin story would be really cool yeah, all we know about his backstory is that he disagreed with the way the other shambali taught and went on a pilgrimmage to retrace the steps of aurora
probably the character we have the least backstory for
well maybe that's not true
Blackwatch skin more or less gives the answer.
i don't think we have that much for sym
i haven't looked at her lore in years so maybe i'm just missing something
The exact same piece of Zen lore you mentioned is one
we have a lot about sym's past?
i more meant what she was doing before she got where she is
because every other hero has basically a summary of most of their life
There's also her comic, and her bio is more thorough than most
Where does sym stand for in the overwatch world? She doesn’t seem to be a full protagonist with overwatch, but not a straight antagonist like with Talon members.
she seems open minded
in her interaction with sombra she shows that she doesn't have blind faith in vishkar
good person in a bad situation
being taken advantage of and all that stuff
alright nevermind we do have a lot for sym's backstory
grew up in poverty, danced to take her mind off of her situation, picked straight from poverty by vishkar when they saw her potential
good person being used by a bad person
weird how there's no lore for how sym lost her arm
like it's almost never even mentioned
at least mccree's is recognized by some characters
actually i don't know that for sure as i haven't read sym's comic in a while
No Sym has both arms
oop wait maybe she doesnt
are her vishkar skins meant to represent her at a younger age? or are they her normal uniform outside of battle?
Idk one of her skins has her normal arm
Instead of the robot one
But we def need more sym lore
Symmetra does have a prosthetic arm
heroes with prosthetics are Doomfist, Genji, Junkrat, McCree, Symmetra and Torbjorn
Ana used to have a cybernetic eye but it was destroyed when Widowmaker shot her, and Sombra has a computer implanted into her spine
if she used to have a cyber eye why didnt she replace it
because it's a reminder of what she lost
? sombra had a computer implanted in who?
why
so she can't be hacked
how does the hacking thing work
and to take herself off the internet
what does hacking do and how
I don't know how hacking works
but she can take control of computer systems
and access restricted information
in Hero of Numbani she uses it to access omnics' private networks and corrupt their programming
How did mcree leave the deadlock gang? Was he caught in some sort of illegal activity with them and joined blackwatch as bail, or did he just willingly walk away from their organization?
To learn more, please visit https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/heroes/mccree#story
when he and his associates were busted in an Overwatch sting operation. With his expert marksmanship and resourcefulness, he was given the choice between rotting in a maximum-security lockup and joining Blackwatch, Overwatch's covert ops division. He chose the latter.
Was Ashe caught
We don't know but it's unlikely
before the book came out some theorized that she was and her parents bailed her out, but now it's... probably not that
What caused doom to lose his arm?
He lost it in the aftermath of the omnic crisis.
Uh... not really, he still had both arms during Uprising.
No, he didn't.
But when he lost his right arm in the aftermath of the Omnic Crisis, it seemed his martial arts career was finished before he had reached his prime.
This is from his bio
idk then
Also, what do you mean you're looking at his panel in that comic
Maybe it's an error? Or when they say "aftermath" they are being incredibly vague and mean years after the crisis ended
Which panel do you mean
Doomfist isnt in that comic
that's why I asked
I'm stupid
Yeah I asked too
McCree lost his arm after leaving Overwatch
okay that explains it
I'm more used to seeing people ask about McCree's arm over Doomfist's and I made a wrongful assumption without scrolling up.
i really want more info abt ashe and mccree in the future
Have you read the novel?
we'll definitely get more about McCree in the future
Ashe, maybe not
when is zenyatta going to do anything in the story?
What does talon want with zen
we don't know yet
maybe it's the same situation as in king's row with mondatta
What made mondatta so important
he was the leader of the Shambali
and was pushing for equality between humans and omnics
Talon killed him to spark conflict between them
What’s the shambali
And what is zen known for
the Shambali are a religious order that believes omnics have a soul
Zenyatta was one of their members until he left to travel the world
But one monk, Zenyatta, disagreed with this new direction. He believed that the way to repair the problems between humans and omnics was not through dogmatic teaching but through interpersonal connection and engagement.```
Ultimately, Zenyatta followed his own path. He chose to leave the monastery and wander the world, helping those he meets to overcome their personal struggles and find inner peace. But, when necessary, he will fight to protect the innocent, be they omnic or human.
So he mentored people ?
yes
Who has he mentored other than genji
Hm ok
Is there any bastion lore
!!loreheroes Bastion
To learn more, please visit https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/heroes/Bastion#story
He's got robot PTSD
and hes homies with torbjorn
more people need to read the hero bios
there's a lot of basic information there that should be common knowledge
the hero bios should be in the game, in the hero gallery
So can zenyatta actually stand?
Or is it just because the cutscene isn’t finished
100%
If I had to guess prob 8-10 hours on a normal play through
Just judging from other campaigns I’ve played
It would be cool if there is dlc side missions of hero’s who didn’t appear in the main story mode
Same
it's likely there will be additional content post-launch
My guess is that OW2 is going to become the main game, like TF2, and they'll just stick with that forever, adding content updates and DLC stuff and they won't make anymore sequels.
This isnt even remotely similar to TF2 vs TFC
OW1 won’t exist anymore when OW2 drops
That's not what I meant. I meant that the sequel will continue on as basically the main game. That's the only comparison I was making.
Yea but you made it sound like there was another game blizzard won’t update anymore
TF2 isn't a sequel
Team Fortress was a Quake mod
TFC was that Quake mod ported to the half-life engine
TF2 was a different game they made like 11 years later
Was it? I just assumed because there was a 2 there was a first game
Yes
I don't see how that makes TF2 not a sequel
It's a different arrangement than OW, but that's not what they meant
Okay, well ignore what I said. I only meant that OW2 is going to become the main game once it comes out
