#lore-discussion

Guy needs to take their shitposting elsewhere
Than don’t come into a lore discussion with this nonsense
Right ok. So when reaper died, or turned into that thing, why did he turn evil, and if so what does black watch even do? What's the difference between them and overwatch, I understand they're evil, but why? What is reapers motive
what makes you think any of the heroes have a canonical penis size?
this isn't that kind of game

Thought reaper and soldier 76 where best friends and they go way back
i dont think they were ever like BEST friends
They were as close as soldiers
In other words, fight together die together
This is lore discussion. Not game development
jb yapping
But ana didnt die, or did she pretend
faked
What are you talking about?
Ok. I will say this as nicely as possible. Nothing your asking is relevant to Lore-Discussion in the slightest and I think everyone here wants it to please stop
im curious about what an extension is
Drugs or surgery
No. It’s not. It’s shitposting
based on their earlier questions, it's probably something penis related
and I will remind you that NSFW is not allowed on this server
I don’t think they get it
back to lore guys!
do u think roadhog and junk would have any lore significance in the near future
Yes
not likely
They’re in the coming book
they are comedic relief
yea thats what i was thinking
that's not lore signifigance
all the stories in that book are about heroes who aren't signifigant to the main story
it's always been like that
All the Junker heroes are about to get more lore in the book this coming year
in the present no maybe in the past
no
probably before his militia days? if anything
no
he could hook sure
Hog only cares about money and himself. Junk stands in the money part
the only heroes with known significant others are Tracer and Torbjorn
soldier had a boyfriend at one point iirc
I kinda think Ashe and Cole had something
in the past, yes
And Jack and Ana are married. Gabriel was…
Ana was married
she and Sam split
Jack was never married
Gabriel was married, but his wife thinks he's dead
Widowmaker was also married but she killed her husband
I could have sworn Jack was married
no
Before his “death”
Jack had a bf
he had a boyfriend during the omnic crisis, but they split because Jack was too busy with Overwatch
Idk if they were married
What do you think black watch wants with zenyatta after they killed his master.
Like widow and sombra in that clip
Yea lol
I don't know what they want, but they won't get it
it's from 2021
the Blizzconline panel
they showed a lot of unfinished clips
what you think genji v sombra widowmaker whos winning?
How did ram react to his master being killed
that is if zen donest back him up
Genji will win
Overwatch will back Genji up
but idk if zen even fights never looked into his lore
Ramattra hated Mondatta after he denounced Null Sector following the King's Row uprising
he'd be happy to see Mondatta dead
Dam, I thought he was a pretty nice and frienely guy, kinda cold by ram ngl
I'd be interesting to get more info on winton and hammond lore tbh.
Been here before but left the discord
The ow discord I mean
So back to the idea of winter skins for those who didn’t get one
I’m thinking Lifeweaver be a perfect Jack Frost
Making ice flowers
Don’t know so much about Junker Queen, Ramattra, or Mauga
Maybe tanks are tougher to think of?
just general Christmas/winter themed skins would be fine
they don't have to be specific characters
Ramattra would look cool carved out of ice (similar to Genji's Ice Wraith)
Hmm. Maybe. Tho, I kinda see him wielding a giant candy cane
While I think Queen’s Mob Boss skin could work as one, I don’t know bout Mauga
Maybe something that relates to him burning things?
no
rudolph ramattra
Question about Ramattra lore
Why did Ramattra’s staff look a lot different back then when he was in shambali monastery?
because it was most likely a walking stick rather than a literal weapon
The difference is he was a monke when he was in Shambali I think
And when he created Null Sector, I think he got improve himself
But why would he need a walking stick? Especially a fancy one?
Wait I think I'm saying bullshit
its been mentioned somewhere (one of the ram dev updates i think?) that he traveled a lot so having a hiking stick would be useful
Ok I missed the word ''staff''
Oh actually that makes a lot of sense
I should stop reading fast
But how come he doesn’t use his current staff as a fighting stick? It would be cool if he can use it as a melee in game
But just imagine how awesome if he can just pull up with fighting staff combos in the battle field
Plus he’s a monk, wouldn’t he know the skills of fighting and martial arts?
I’m pretty sure zenyatta does too since he can literally boot people off the map
He isn't monk anymore?
It's just in game
But have you heard the interaction voicelines of zen and ram?
I doubt that Zen could boot people in the lore like he does in game
Which one?
The ones where he says “you must learn to block brother” “someone has forgotten our lessons” and “now mondatta’s lessons have betrayed you too” were all from when Ramattra kills zenyatta in the game
Also
When ram melees zen in his omnic form he says “you taught me that one”
So they must know how to fight
Wait, so Zen taught to Ram the melee?
That's weird because Ram should already know how to fight
He was build to lead an army
leaders don't always know how to fight
and omnics mostly fought with weapons, not hand-to-hand
He was given a gun though
That’s all he knew when he was manufactured
He was just built to be very big, strong, and very strategic
Yeah
Do y’all think he can take mauga in a fight if he was in nemesis or omnic form?
Not in game btw
Why wouldn’t it be though?
We just don't know actually but we know that he made improvements
If it weren’t canon it doesn’t make sense for it to be in the game
A lot of abilities aren't canon
Like?
Sigma ultimate
Actually we do not know if Sigma's abilities are canon.
Because there isn’t enough of him in the animated shorts or cutscenes
The only thing that shows his true lore is the character origin where he experiments with the black hole and goes insane
Yeah we didn’t see a lot about him
Neither did we see much of Ramattra either
Because he’s a new character and a mysterious villain that suspiciously look like a jojos character and the predator alien
Ramattra isn’t really new tbh
We saw him a years ago
He is a recent hero in game I agree
But in the lore he isn’t. He is in the Stom rising cutscene when Doomfist suggested to help Ramattra
Oh yeah the one where he takes off his cloak
Tbh I did not know his lore was released years ago before the actual character in the game
We just saw the scene when Ramattra accepted the help of Doomfist (6 years before the recall)
I see
But does Ramattra hate doomfist now? When Ramattra kills doom in the game he says “your scheming ends now”
VL in game are hypotetical
But most of time it doesn’t really fit the lore
But since I’ve seen the last short I’m asking some questions
Talon members have literally stolen the data from a Null Sector ship behind Ramattra’s back
EXACTLY
WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT??
When I saw the comments on the video of the mauga short, no one has ever questioned why they were stealing from null sector even though they work together
Yeah me too
They are just like ‘´Oh this short is nice’’
I don’t like this new short
I want to know why
Doomfist is the one who suggested his help to Ramattra
And they stole the data from a ship
But why?
Did Ramattra reject his offer?
I don’t think so
it seems like Talon is going behind Ramattra's back to steal from him
Actually that makes some sense
probably because Doomfist isn't trustworthy
Doomfist does a lot of schemes
So it would make sense why he would want to do that
So when Ramattra finds out about that he’ll probably change his mind about working with Talon
Probably
I have a weird question about Ramattra
Go on
Do y’all think omnics have favourite foods?
I know that zenyatta like to serve his guests vegan food
People say Ramattra’s favourite food is human burgers💀
its not like they can eat
omnics can't eat

We know
But it’s hypothetical
If they could eat, what would they want to eat?
My guess would be anything metal
Do u really think that Ram could eat ‘’humans burger’’
For Ramattra it would probably be eating humans
I mean baptiste was one exception
If u have another question u can ask here next time
Doesn't he look for peace, but the only reason he'll be violent is if they don't understand.
Like one of his voice lines is "I'll speak in a language you understand, violence"
You’re right but he has too much anger and rage built up inside which has driven him mad
Yeah, I think that's only because he's sees how humanity will treat him so there is no point being peaceful
Which is understandable 😅
Yeah
He’s basically saying “if they hate us for no reason, we will give them a reason to”
But he’s tried multiple times to protest and make peace but that hasn’t worked
Yeah it's pretty cool, I live by that ramattra philosophy
If you make the problem worse and bring violence into it, "I will tear victory from your grasp"
I wanna be part of Ramattra philosophy too
Yeah it just makes sense
If you will not understand what I say and comply “I will speak to you in a language you understand; ** V I O L E N C E**”
Yeah, I've had to deal with idiots all my life and I've got problems with more idiots (it's a long story) and it so fits the ult line.
"SUFFER AS I HAVE"
Especially when I kick their ass if they come up to me
Ramattra is so relatable
The voiceline say a lot about his backstory and lore
Yeah it's so cool. I love using it in game mostly because of that line!
Because he is giving oppression to his enemies as he has gotten oppression as an omnic
Wow I think there should be a channel for Ramattra philosophy
And maybe zen philosophy too
Sigma rocks
literally rocks
Agreed
Idk, 50/50
Sigma is kind of like our current president with super powers, he does not know how to make decisions as a leader
The only thing I can relate to with sigma is "what is that melody!" 💀
He’s just a scientist
“What are those?!!!”💀
😅 exactly, I can relate
Best line 😂
“Agony is grape flavoured”💀
Reaper is also good, he roasts everyone he kills💀
I gotta say I like kiriko as well, apart from that age gap problem with hanzo, etc 💀😂
is there a lfg custom i missed?
Zen is always so calm but he still roasts people in the nicest way
Passive aggressive
Without any kind of tone
How does healing even work in this game? Why is it yellow? Why not use band-aids and other first aid things?
It’s just how their colour scheme goes, yellow is healing and harmonious, and purple is harming and damaging
#1 rule of playing Zenyatta, always discord the tank
2nd rule of playing zenyatta, become zenyatta
3rd rule of playing zenyatta, kick people off the map
Sorry that I’m nearly 12 hours late, but basically Reaper was originally the captain of Overwatch, but after his motives looked sketchy they kicked him out and promoted Soldier to captain, this enraged Reaper so he made Blackwatch purposefully to rival Overwatch. Reaper’s motive was to get rid of Overwatch which is what he did when he exploded an Overwatch base which had Soldier in it, killing both of them.
Reaper now works for Talon with Doomfist, and soldier turned into a vigilante trying to find him for revenge for ruining his life
Lmao
Reaper formed Blackwatch as a covert branch of Overwatch because he got frustrated with "red tape" having to follow international law. They weren't strictly evil, but they were doing illegal scientific research/experiments and black ops.
Some time later, Reaper met Doomfist who radicalized him to Talon's cause because Overwatch hadn't brought down the corrupt elites and businessmen who Reaper saw as the real source of society's problems. Then Reaper betrayed Overwatch and joined Talon.
Thanks
nuh uh
i love lying
for fun
blackwatch was a group within overwatch
they werent a rival group
blackwatch was just like overwatch but they did more shady stuff
overwatch got shut down because blackwatch killed an important guy and overwatch got investigated
then reaper and soldier were at swiss hq which got blown up "killing" them both
they both survived but reaper got turned into the weird wraith ghost thing he is now by moira then and joined talon
but like the public thinks theyre dead
Reyes wasn't "kicked out" - Morrison was made Strike Commander of Overwatch because he had better leadership skills, and Reyes didn't like the responsibility of command so he was happy to take a lesser role. He created Blackwatch as a subdivision of Overwatch because it suited his combat style better - with espionage and targeted strikes, rather than open warfare.
Where do people get majority of the lore from considering there isnt much in-game
and even out of game we mainly just have cinematics
cool
Still can’t accept the fact that Rein is racist for omnics 😭
We've already been over this one 🤦
tbf we havent seen him interact with any omnics except bastion
so maybe he's not omnicphobic just bastionphobic
he called the omnics "just machines" in the story mission cutscenes
Yeah and he just was afraid of Bastion
Well... Zen is in omnic and i love zen as a master, so i love omnics... well, the good ones anyway
And ram is pretty cool also, love that guy.
oh!
then maybe he's a little omnic-racist
an ounce
He also said if they can’t just restore that omnic’s soul from a backup
Idk if it counts but he also tried ripping the device off of the omnics head using brute force
It’s more of ignorance but it’s still rooted from him thinking they’re just machines
What is this from
Reflections [2016]
The kid next to him is wearing a similar outfit to the winter concept genji skin 🥺
Yeah that’s what I was thinking
The saddest comic :(((
That one image of reaper looking at his ex wife is from it
I wanted a Reflections 2 this year so bad but oh well.. maybe next year
Where Can i read it
Ooooo yes, I’d love that
Bob is ashes family?
In a sense, yeah
anyone else just get sad asf sometimes thinking about how much blizzard ruined the potential of the story and lore
like they could have deadass made a whole series about it on top of the PVE but just fumbled so hard
I just like funny monke shooter
It's like they have a perpetual "saving it for later" mentality about the story
But really they just keep adding more and more questions
I wish hanzo would join talon
No.
I just wish he would be more involved, either with talon or overwatch or whatever
so true
hard to say they wasted the potential when it's not finished yet
I prefer having more questions than answers
It leaves room to add more lore
Otherwise, the story of OW would end faster than an animated Disney series
weeny winston
I think its more that they're increasing the potential but -for lack of a better word- not using the potential
Slatt *!?+
i like the lore from fnaf ngl
I wish the opposite tbh
It’s not Hanzos nature to join something like Talon imo
Why Hanzo would join Talon?
Guys what’s talon
What if ramattra have doom ability in nemesis form ?
there should just be a overwatch anime
what would it be about?
I don’t want an OW anime without a good plot
Seriously I don’t even know if that’s necessary
Stopping doomfist from being evil
they literally fought canonically, it was a tie
mauga challenged doom to a no rules 1v1 and it was a tie. doom was impressed so he invited mauga to join talon
L maugq
Mauga*
Doom is still betta trust 🙏
i dont think a tie is an L if its doomfist 😭
Doomfist held back
Trust
Doom didn’t have his full enhancements yet
Even more doubtful he had the gauntlet upgraded at the time
Since it was some time after he killed his predecessor
No. They ended in a draw
And I think it really say something when a man with a thrill for action can’t compete against a space ape to beat Doomfist
Wonder if that mean Winston can fight Mauga and win
Neither did maug
yes he did
he had 2 hearts at that point
Mauga has his 2 heards, and Doomfist had his gauntlet
i imagine he's only gotten stronger since then but still
Is Dva transgender
no
I saw a article saying that Dva is trans
don't trust everything you read on the internet
none of the current heroes are transgender
Venture (the next hero coming in season 10) will be the first
it's not any valid speculation anyway
Go to the practice range, turn out master volume to 100, sound effects to 0, music to 0, and in-game voice volume to 100. Choose sigma and use his rock, grasp and ultimate
Oh that’s sick, I don’t play sigma like at all so I’ve never heard it lol
That’ll be interesting
I think it's a bit unnecessary
But if we learn more about the Yokai gang, that would be nice
it's set before the gang was formed
Ryouta, Nobuto and Sakura don't recognize Kiriko
it's only in Japanese, but I was able to read it
Still waiting for the lw sym comic about Vishkar academy smh
It’ll come out in English eventually. But regardless, cool to gain some lore on this little group
Mercy to Moira: “omg how can you be so cruel?!”
Also mercy to junk who has serious complications from exposure to radiation: “SHUT UP 🤬”

And a hat
And a coat
and a gun
And a bomb
And a B.O.B.
LMAO wrong bob
Mei got that dark backstory ong no wonder she's a demon in game (I posted this in the wrong discussion lmao)
Oh dude I never thought of this
I just noticed the similarities today
How did people never notice that?
yknow
replaying the OW2 story missions makes me question is overwatch ever gonna defeat null sector
presumably
hope so, cuz i dont think destroying one big ah robot is enough to say ''the invasion is over''. It'll be more like ''the invasion is over...for now''
I have noticed a trend with a lot of recent villainous characters having red (iris) eyes
Mauga, Junkerqueen, Ashe
Not a lot but it's weird it happened 3 times
And Sombra has purple eyes which is unusual
I mean, genji has red eyes too
Yeah? I thought they were brownish from what I remember
i think it depends on which skin you took if i remember well
In Dragons they're brown with maybe a little hazelish
Yeah but i feel like they change his pupils every human like skin shown
They were red in blackwatch, def could have changed though
She taking her anger out
Also Moira, Well 1/2
She got the Bowie eyes
Can we have a serious discussion about the ethical and moral implications of Null Sector's invasion in Overwatch 2? We know that Null Sector is a militant omnic liberation group that utilizes violent methods to achieve omnic rights. Its forces are almost entirely comprised of robotic drones manufactured in an omnium under the direction of Ramattra, one of its original founders and currently its sole leader. They were decried as terrorists by the Shambali Order following the King's Row Uprising, going underground until their re-emergence. How far is too far, and do you think Null Sector's use of violence to achieve their ends is justified?
I don't think their use of violence is justified
negotiating peace and equality without violence is possible
I agree with Doc, however I do want to present the issue that omnics are a finite race. They can't just settle for scraps and crumbs of justice in hopes that their children's or children's children will one day be allowed at the table. If they are killed to violence against omnics, that's the omnic race getting just that much smaller. That's why Ram is taking such a drastic measure and taking away free will from omnics
even more reason Ramattra shouldn't be provoking violence against omnics
the average person won't know that all his units are drones - they're going to assume it's omnics attacking humanity again, and retaliate against innocent omnics just trying to live their lives
just look at the reaction some people had after 9/11 - how countless Middle-Eastern and Muslim families were discriminated against
heck even Sikh people suffered, which shows you how little people care about being accurate with their racism
Ramattra should be doing his utmost to preserve what few omnics there are, not inciting violence against them
i think him being so drastic makes a lot of sense and is just a tiny bit based if it weren't for the fact that he's. basically anubis 2
No, Null Sector's use of violence is not justified. Violent methods only cause more violence and suffering, and it is essential that humans and omnics communicate peacefully and understand each other's perspectives to reach out a sustainable solution. Null Sector's actions are detrimental to the progress that can be achived through nonviolent means, as they sow the seeds of division and misunderstanding that prevent productive dialogue.
I’m predicting it now: this is the exact point Zen is gonna bring up and Ramattra has to learn it the hard way
I kinda think this is where we'll get to see Ramattra's character develop and learn the lesson Zenyatta already knows
Honestly, I think his decision to take free will away from omnics is the most poorly-written aspect of his character by far. It makes no sense for his character, felt like the writers just made him do it so the audience knows he's bad.
I think Ram is doing it to take control of them and get them to "fight for their rights"
And I'm not saying it's the right thing to do
What good is a bunch of soulless automatons going to do for him though? If he needs more footsoldiers, he has an apparently-limitless supply of omnic drones and carriers.
Idk and it kind of sucks there's an undetermined amount of time before we find out why
And the invasions simply don't make sense strategically. The invasion of King's Row was ostensibly to create a safe haven for omnics, but even though Ramattra now has an army that seems to rival the combined militaries of entire continents, he doesn't use that army to actually help omnics in any discernible way.
He thinks he's saving omnics, it's already been brought up by characters that it doesn't make sense so it's been flagged
We never seem to get the whole story, which can be infuriating and frustrating when a part of the story doesn't progress for years
I have a feeling it's going to be a disappointment. I mean, there are real-world rebel groups that fought for their people's liberation- and won- and were better off for it. Null Sector isn't being framed like that. The atrocities they're committing- especially against their own people- would make most of those groups look soft by comparison.
Yeah it's hard to make a call on the quality before we get the whole story
But instead of disappointment, we get frustration at the long tracks of time between things being progressed and even longer before any resolution
nah i don't think he'd need to use civillian omnic bodies to fight for him when he's already got more powerful null sector bots
we heard torb say 'it's like the essence of who he is, is gone' when trying to remove the device on that one omnic's head so
my speculation is that ramattra's plan is to use those devices to stow away all the omnic 'souls' on the planet while he can wreak havoc on humans without worrying about omnic collateral
and then put the souls back in their respective bodies when the war is over ig. something like that
what do you think abt this as a plan^^
thats not a bad theory actually
hes not anubis 2 at all totally different motives
not in terms of motive but in the sense that they're doing similar things
army of mindless drones attacking the entire world
well sparking a war yeah
yea
He’s so lonely in August :(
Merry Christmas! Feliz Navidad! Happy Kwanzaa! Happy Hanukkah! Hope everyone has enjoyed their holidays and hope they have a Happy New Year!
As to you, friend. 🙏
venture better be another august baby fr
do we know anything about venture yet besides the archaeology site in Petra
Canadian
christmass and navidad is the same
canadian
that's it
And…? Is that all…?
Yes, what else?
Oooo apparently Mei has a new voice line where she mentions a friend named Jiayi that works for Lucheng Interstellar, the company that made Horizon. Could that be space rangers name?
It's possible
not likely if she's from the Mars colony
I would think so
CANADIAN les a go we need more 🙂
I'm hoping they're first nations or metis or inuit
Lf plat tank/Diamond
wrong channel
Okay so, I do have a question regarding Junkerqueen’s lore. Most people know that she just despises omnics, but is there some point in her lore that tells us why? Or does she just hate them for the fun of it? Id really appreciate an answer because this has had me curious for a while!!
Not very knowledgable with lore but heres what I know:
The australian government took land from farmers and people living some areas and gave them to the omnics as a form of peace, the people didnt agree so they attacked the omnium which is the omnics factory, and it resulted in a nuclear device in the factory exploding destroying the entire area. So she hates omnics because they caused all that destruction and the wasteland that formed following it.
OHHH THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE! I never knew that even happened, tysm for the response! I really appreciate it

yw
I disagree, new countries should be represented, we got another aussie, another japanese and one canadian. Lately we've gotten 2 new nationalitues, one again canadian and 1 samoan (forgot about the supports i just realised)
U mean venture? Sadly confirmed canadian
See, that's a problem. Saying that means we'll most likely keep getting brand new characters.
yes
Venture is Canadian
but they could be First Nations, Metis or Inuit, based on their appearance
I know. But they could just introduce them beforehand
Build em up
I see your idea.
But the problem is that they tend to not do that.
They jusr arent building them up for no reason
I mean. Venture is canadian and not truely built up
Yeah where was it confirmed illari was
Both have convoluted lore, and are moreso just 'there".
A great example of a new hero we got is Mauga.
New Nationality + in lore presence
Hes also the only one with buikd up to release
giving Venture a different ethnicity would help give them a different identity from the other Canadian hero
Eh its not hard to be different from soj
Her everything is basic
Personality n stuff
being Metis or Inuit would also make them different from Pharah
Most likely due to him being replaced in 2019. Without that, he'd simply go hand and hand with Baptiste.
That too
But he also was supposed to be s2 hero
Rama wouldve made much more sense in s8
Nah, give people time to speculate
If you release the main villain with it it destroys mystery
Give people time to go who is this
It kinda ruined the allure in the second mission
But mauga is the only one with any build up which is sad
I feel as if, for 2024, once they release the second batch of PvE, they should do it without the hero in the Battle Pass
Unless u count the peru poster
Evens out the hype.
Tbf i think it was very obvious what they were doing
Also, hope we get snippets of lore from the three coming this year before they release
S6 was meanf to be the big season, notice how every season was either hero or map / ganenode? S5 had none of either and s6 had hero, mode, and pce
They likely moved flashpoint to s6 to make ot extra big, so i think there will be a "big season tm" each year
It was hyped up, yes, but the outcome was a bit messy.
This next batch could be good though.
Ngl tho still crazy that mauga was this long in the works yet has no legendary base skins
Still crazy
Like
Again just doesnt make sense
Epic skin missing for a not hyped hero
Sure
Like illari got her origin story later than release so i kinda exoect it. But mauga was very built up, very long dev time and 2 really solid lore skin choices which most base legendaries are
Pshhhh you're going off
They're most likely saving the Hawaiian shirt for Sunmer Games
Nah doubt it
Talon suit makes sense for the two legendaries
We havent gotten any lore skina in shop since ow2
And an epic skin for his actual Talon work (Black shirt, shades..)
We have actually seen 2 hawaiiab shirts
In his sprays he has a blue one too
Hawaiian is likely base, talon will be in a talon mega bundle thing is what im guessing
IF they add both
Cuz well, the only kinda lore skin was more of a reference with the wibston harold skin
I was a little frustrated when the Twitch Drop was the Sombra Talon skin, I was hoping for the Talon Mauga skin, but alas, it's fine
Pn that note
They also stopped doing that. With rama snd kiriko u could get free legendary twitch drop
For the recolors of base legendary
Blozz didnt adress it either
But ngl most boring release was still illari, awfull marketing, awfull lore relevence and her kit is basic as hell
She's freelance
I mean she has potential in lore to be like dva, no connections but koins ow
Still dont getcwhy some say "i think she might join talon cuz shes a serial killer" like buddy, no
That’s the twitch drop for this season?
Highly unlikely
Her entire character is redemption, joining overwatcg seems like most likely path
I agree with all your points except the boring part, I gotta say illari is extremely fun to play
Yeah rn what I want most is illari lore
No no shes fun, hrr kit is boring in design
And I wanna know what happened in the zen cinematic at the end of PVE
Yeah its kinda basic, true
Sounds like they aren't really going to be doing that sort of PvE anymore, at least not on a regular basis
Nah they likely are we just atent getting anythibg promised cuz last timr backfired
Feel lucky if we have one pve mission in 2024,they are just doing nothing
I wouldn't just confidently say they're doing nothing
We’re not even in 2024
But you always come here to say something like ‘’they’re doing nothing’’
I can’t do something for you
Well I wouldn't say they are doing nothing if they just show something, the "we are doing a lot but is a surprise and don't want to show it" excuse I don't buy it
Seriously get this guy outta here. Acting like an entitled to knowing everything and claiming nonsense when they don't get what they want. Ridiculous fr
They are working on PvE and if they want to surprise the player base with them, they can
Given they already dropped a decent amount of info regarding an upcoming map and heroes, then please let the PvE be a surprise to us
honestly I just want blizzard to at least pretend they care about the story of the OW universe and all the characters in the franchise
if that means they do a 180 with the PVE then so be it
If they didn't care, why drop lore on a decently monthly basis
The PVE and the story was why the vast majority of ppl wanted to get the game
Over promising and under delivering on what they announced destroyed a lot of people’s trust
That was their main way to get as much of the lore out as they can since those animated shorts only come out so often
that doesn't mean they don't care
corporate is to blame for under delivering, not the devs
Which they ARE getting and in a better way compared to an entire story that would be played ONCE n never touched again
the devs did the work, and had it mostly ready
I mean the game as it is now is just a reskin of the original with different monetization, the invasion events aren’t much different from the archives events
I’d love nothing more than to be wrong ofc and they turn it around sometime soon
But honestly the way they just broke a lot of people’s trust is why I have my grievances about this game and about blizzard
The Invasion Missions are bigger than archive, which was literally just the maps as they are
Example being Toronto being bigger than its regular map
And the Underworld mission using a new area that was locked before
And next PvE missions are bound to be big too. You can see the India map is big already
And broke people's trust?
the story missions we're getting are the same story missions they promised us
You acting like Blizzard did the same thing as those people who dropped that recently released than removed game
the only thing missing is the hero missions
What was it called again
The Day Before
Devs said they worked on it for YEARS n what they released was nothing they showed in the teasers with multiple problems
Removed after 4 days but nobody got their money back as the team who made it declared bankruptcy. They scammed everyone wanted to play it
Blizzard didn't do that with Overwatch 2. So please stop acting like they have
I wish there was a little more transparency on the story/lore. It's almost always randomly dropped and you never know what it's going to be next or when it'll be released. I really appreciate them branching out into other mediums- I actually love that - but more consistency would be welcome
Yeah
yes king
why you keep acting like everything i said is an invention made by me? isnt true nothing was announced at blizzcon and they stopped even mentioning pve after the awful missoins they have already made in 2019? isnt true the incompetent executive produceer had an interview last week where he pretty much said pve is death and there is no plan for a constant relase of missions or story or lore or anything and if we have one single missions some year will be the same thing of archive with nothing special added? why you trust blizzard after they lied for years about pve launch? why im the person who is on the wrong for not being a fool trusting blizzrd? hell, he said they are still experimenting on this game and have still no clue what to do, he said it, not me, is not an assumption
https://www.dexerto.com/overwatch/overwatch-2-producer-reveals-what-to-expect-from-pve-modes-in-2024-2437094/ dont trust me, trust the executive producer who says nothing at all
Read your own source like?? “It’s not known exactly where the devs intend to take the story considering Invasion ended with a cliffhanger, but previously released footage has given players some ideas of what the next mission could be.”
isnt true nothing was announced at blizzcon and they stopped even mentioning pve after the awful missoins they have already made in 2019?
Incorrect
isnt true the incompetent executive produceer had an interview last week where he pretty much said pve is death and there is no plan for a constant relase of missions or story or lore or anything and if we have one single missions some year will be the same thing of archive with nothing special added?
Incorrect
PVE was said to be continued later in 2024, why would they talk about something a year out
Bro just get a mod to either permanently mute or kick them for spamming false info
I don't know where they think they're getting their info from, but nothing they say is the least bit accurate or true
why would they promote pve and the campaign when they already cancelled the thing months before ow2 launch?
but them what they show at blizzcon? "we are working on it" is not a thing
neither incorrect or correct, im assuming things? maybe, they have show im not correct? no
the blizzcon and the interview with the executive producer, they show nothing

you said they stopped mentioning PvE after 2019. they did not
you said Jared Neuss said PvE was dead. he did not

how is it cancelled if it released?
They stated late 2024 more content would release
Yeah they're just taking their times to release them
Seriously, bro is just flat out denying PvE even exists
Oh wait, what’s that released in August and still available in shop? Invasion? Yup it is. And they stated first hand upon releasing Invasion that more PvE would not be released until late 2024
So. You’re wrong and should just stop while you’re ahead. Actually… you’re months behind on the PvE Cancelled argument
Yeah I don’t understand how people still say PvE still doesn’t exist. Can you say it sucks or it’s disappointing? Yeah. But it literally is right there in the game you can play it whenever you want. Is it lackluster? Yes, but it’s at least there.
anyone else feel like venture will have ties to the tank coming
idk I feel like the tank feels very mole like
And venture being the whole underground thing aswell
The duo relationship went really successful with baptiste and mauga everyone liked it so
Could maybe be the same with them and the tank
The problem is that he won't listen to us
He came here to tell bullshits thrice
so, what they show on blizzcon?
They just said the next is coming in 2024 that's all
If we'll get more it will be later
Sure. Let’s talk bout Blizzcon months after they’d already said PvE was for later in 2024. Let’s listen to the guy who clearly gets a majority of info from streamers instead of the actual people who make the game
Heroes Ascendent is scheduled to be released early March so that is likely putting other minor characters in place during the events during Invasion
They've been surprising us with content a lot so probably something games wise after that. Not right after but after that
Is Illari a Talon associate in some way?
- She is young and in an emotional state so easy to take advantage of
- Sombra interaction about her being worried that Illari is "taking on to much" and that she'll "send her the relevant details"
- Multiple elimination voice lines, healing voice lines and other mid-combat lines where she recognizes Moira and acts as if she's been experimented on
Voice line implication is not part of the lore, and she has not been implied to be such in official lore bits afaik
Voice lines are sort of "what ifs"
i certainly wouldnt ignore the voice lines though bc they do seem to imply something
i just am not sure what
Not sure about it, but it would be interesting
she has likely asked Sombra to share dirt she has dug up on Porterro/Lumerico and Vishkar
just a guess since the two companies are working together and branching out and both companies have checkered pasts and influence in the energy and light resource area, same as the Inti people
Her voiceline for eliminating Reaper would suggest she at least knows that he's suffering from being experimented on by Moira or she knows his backstory
But keeping in mind what Veskari said here #lore-discussion message , it probably means nothing as far as where she falls in the lore
Reaper is suffering of his powers?
He has interactions with Moira where he talks about being in pain, yes
That's weird
Moira brushes it off as no big deal
It's like he got used of this pain
He’s in a constant state of his cells decaying and regenerating, that interaction with moira is one of the cooler ones imo
I don’t really remember that interaction
I didn’t put the game in english
Only the text
Rein’s origin story is extremely cool
Picture of Cassidy on Route 66 lore
60 second lore on kiriko?
now you spread false information, you should be baned, i never used streamers as info and i will never, i hate streamers, i literally used official info from the godamn executive prducer, a person who i think or should be making the game, even if he seems so out of touch with the game
You can’t prove anything you say, not a single person believes you, and you should be banned for both spreading false information and not including anything in lore discussion. All you do is come in here to bitch at all us for disagreeing with you and your false information
Are you implying the executive producer is spreading false information? But you said we can trust him
You clearly have no proof of anything you say. Give it up and go home
So the interview and blizzcon didn't happen? Funny, I could swear I saw the one hour long interview and the blizzcon presentation where nothing about the pve was announced
Funny. We keep seeing you bitch about something that does exist. Invasion. PvE. Story. And you denying it exists. Show proof of it being dead or shut up. Nothing wrong with giving up with dignity
Must you lash out at the lore community?
And funny thing. The PvE they wanted were the hero missions. Not lore related at all actually. So it’s curious what they’re doing here in lore-discussion with such nonsense
Wowow insults, you are breaking the second rule, you should be baned. The archives missions we should get in 2020-21-22 sold for $15 wit no replay value are not the pve promised, ergo don't exist, but I'm not even talking about that I don't know why you mention that, I'm talking about future pve, nothing announced. Is that a lie? And no, the "we are working on it" don't count, I said the same thing to my thesis assessor and didn't took it on account
Okay. Sleep on whatever you want. Nobody is on your side in here. You only come here bc you know nothing you say will be acknowledged anywhere else on this server
If there would be an OW series (like the one about first Omnic Crysis), whose lore or look on the situation would you like to see the most?
Or would you like a few perspectives or just each episode only about different hero?
I know it's kinda old question, but kinda wanna know
To me, I would like to see sorta two series. One would be with only hero's lore episodes, and second, well, the timeline as well
It's much, but it would help in establishing the whole picture and why some things are there
I like the idea of a series of shorter vignette-style stories focusing on one or a couple heroes at a time that all come together to tell a larger story. Like the recent Mauga one for example.
I like this style.
Yeah kind of like the MCU but instead of full movies, just 5-10 min shorts that are all part of a bigger story altogether
I guess Arcane kind of did similar but they were edited into more traditional-style episodes
I can't say I like OW's storytelling, for the most part it's been all setting and no plot. It's been 7 years and we've only recently progressed past Winston's Recall.
I do like it but what I don't like is how they hold soooo much back
I like shorts that culminate to something because they are strong standalone, but can later be mashed together for an enjoyable watch.
Like they're saving it for later but later never comes and instead more loose ends and unanswered questions get added to the pile
8 years later there are still unanswered questions and loose ends from even before launch
Yeah, that's what happens when your story is all setting and no plot. Characters are introduced and then left in stasis for years at a time.
There's rarely, if ever, an interest in trying to tie it all together into a cohesive, condensed narrative.
Right, for instance Zenyatta, who has been there from launch, is still one big question mark. We know more about roadhog, who just wants to be left alone, than we do about Zenyatta
I used to say "what's there to know?" since Zenyatta was just a monk (and only 20 years old)
but they've made him older than the crisis now and alluded to his past somewhat, so now I'm curious about his past
hopefully they go into it when he gets featured in the story
which we know he will be soon
?
I get it both ways lol 2024 is literally next week. But also, if they don't follow up on the Zen story from the end of Gothenburg mission soon, it wouldn't be the first time they didn't "immediately" follow up on something they set up
it would be weird to leave the story missions off on that cliffhanger then go do something else in the next mission
Zen's in trouble in India? next mission is in Midtown
Heyy
Who knows
ngl id prefer it to be about the golden age of ovw
we currently dont have any cinematics set during that time
I agree
we have basically the entire omnic crisis explained in Declassified
we know very little about Golden Age missions
See, I'm ok with filling that info in as the "present-day" story progresses
I don't think we need another Genesis-style short
Reinhardt cinematic?
Even if it's just one
that is not during the golden age
?
that is during the crisis
yeah that's set during the crisis
but I guess there isn't much to tell during the Golden Age
successful missions aren't as interesting
there's gotta be something, we just got a whole bunch of info from declassified im sure theres some story to tell
as controversy and missions that went sideways
maybe like
ok bear with me here
a series where each episode focuses on one member of ovw during the golden age
But yeah I agree
could be documentary style, could be something else
if they were going to do a GI Joe, "Monster of the week" style series it would probably be set in the Golden Age
canonically, such a series exists in-universe
it's called "Overwatch Adventures" and it's the show Efi grew up watching
they could just give us the canon overwatch cartoon 💀💀
although Winston is the main character in that series, so maybe it's not quite Golden Age
more like a fictionalized version of Golden Age
I doubt a kid's show would show the reality of the Venice Incident and other controversial missions
it wouldnt be very helpful for lore but itd be funny
TikTok’s another victim
I could only see junkers being in talon, or Ashe
he also wasn't "originally Canadian"
as many people claim
he likes hockey because the devs like hockey (and because he has skates)
I don't think it would make sense for the junkers to work with Talon. Ashe is a bit more complicated, but I'm leaning towards her not being a good fit either. Heroes Ascendant might give us a better idea
Ashe likes being her own boss
she wouldn't fall in line with Doomfist
although he might recruit her as an ally and equal
Oh right I forgot junkers are racist and there’s max in talon
That and Null Sector
Ram isn’t technically a part of talon
He's not, but he essentially agreed to work with them
The junkers wouldn't approve of the relationship
Which one
Yeah and in the last short, they litterally stolen the data from a Null Sector ship.
That's really weird
Well, he mention Doom wanted to use it for something
What that something is remains unclear, but given it’s something Doom is planning to use…
That thing could power an entire ship. If Talon gets it, there’s no telling how they could utilize it
This is my favourite channel to read so far.
Fr
I want to know how it works like i wish ow provided more info about the little details and non character items
Well, maybe little things don't matter until they're absolutely relevant
Currently the only relevant thing is stopping Null Sector than soon enough dealing with Talon
Yeah but still :>
Is junker queen the only character who can canonically break the 4th wall?
why is everyone so caught up on the fact she breaks the 4th wall in her cinematic
Because nobody else does it
I don’t think so anyway
It’s canon in my eyes
I think it’s just to highlight her personality
a lot of cinematics are more serious bits of lore and it's been a while since they tried to actually have some fun
but the queen cinematic is strange cause they have elements of seriousness but also borrow a lot of the style from the junkrat and roadhog in-engine cinematic (or maybe I just like australians)
on another note, I've been looking into Illari a lot and it feels like people missed stuff with her since the invasion stuff came out pretty much at the same time
I don't think she really brakes the 4th wall
For me it's just a cinematic that's all
I kinda think it’s a small reference to Jinx
Technically in that one animated short with Jinx talking to the 4th wall via camera
The two characters share similarities after all
They should give her an rocket launcher in game so she’s even more similar
They won’t
Yeah ik
maybe for april fools
Yesss, I’d love if they just swapped all the heroes weapons lol
Highly doubtful. Only AF is googly eyes
and ult voice lines
it's just because she didn't have anyone to talk to and rather than having her narrate the exposition, they just had her talking to the camera
fwiw, it's been done in the comics before - Ana, Cassidy, Symmetra, and Roadhog all from what I remember do the 4th wall breaking in the comics
or rather, just narrating through their thoughts - but similar
that was narration, not fourth wall breaking
also JQ doesn't look anything like Jinx
Technically, didn’t Sombra break the 4th wall
I don’t think so
Sombra did with her boop at the end of Infiltration
Exactly
Yeah I don’t really consider that scene like breaking the 4th wall
She’s not looking at a camera or another person. She looking dead at the audience
That’s breaking the 4th wall
I think its just a creative touch. I mean the same could be said about JQs cinematic. She was literally narrating the whole short
Talking to a audience
Yeah but again, I just think it's a storytelling choice, like Genesis being in documentary style
Sombra booping the camera feels like a deliberate bone chilling touch to the short
JQ talking to the audience throughout the short feels lazy and breaks the rule of "show, don't tell"
Why mercy has an “U” on her blaster button in the back
Bet the Scarab unit will appear in the New York story mission
Orisa but melee?
Appears to be a medium sized unit with a pair of blades and speedy attack patterns
Probably the Null Sector equivalent of the Talon Assassin
im lore and u are discussion
winton is monkey
Actually he’s a gorilla
And a scientist
monkey mhm
thank you snookums
wow really 0-0 *shocked
why does overwatch keep kicking me out the game saying rendering loss????
I needed to scream somewhere so...
In a bout of frustation at my latest match as rein I decided to do some googling. Rein is 7'4" while wearing enough armor for him to be classified as a litteral tank. This gargantuan man wields a equally large hammer that is propelled by rockets, to be specific 3 separate ones on the back of the hammer. Rein deftly wields this hammer with the power of said rockets to destroy swathes robots as if their nothing in the animatics (the same robots as bastion who you need to hit 3 or so times in game to kill).... Genji is a scrawny 5'6" Japanese man who wields a knife, a sword, and some shurikens. With the knife and the sword he can block many things in the game, like fire and Rein's likely several ton rocket hammer
i dont like this game
genji does the equivalent of me pushing a full speed car coming straight for me to the side like an anime character several times in a row without moving at all
this is a good game that makes complete sense
if the game was 100% logical it would be ass
pls rant on #overwatch-serious not here
Tbf genji is not scrawny and he’s mechanically enhanced
Technologically enchanted?
I understand it’s still unrealistic, it’s just that you’re butchering down genji to being less than what he is
winton
Genji can block literal gravitational vortexes, but cant deflect a rock
Stop thinking with logic
Why is there game talk in #lore-discussion
Genjk can stop a winston primal punch but cant stop doom punch while prkmal is strobger
Cuz hes talking bout the fame with lore
How it doesnt make sense genji can block rein strikes
And? Ping them elsewhere and talk there
I replied to the message
I just explained that lore doesnt always apply to game
I talked bout game and lore differences, as well thats the thing theyre different
I have question about Sombra, she's obviously evil, about wanting to control everything, blackmail people and stuff
But of she's really like that why is she so nice toward Sigma ?
because evil isn't a black and white thing
she isn't some cartoon villain she's a character with greyscale morality
That's why i love Rammatra so much
she'll do terrible things to advance her own goals but she also has a ton of goals in the interests of others
especially the elderly and victims of oppression
she's definitely a villain in some rights but she has a number of heroic traits as well
if this was dnd alignment i'd put her chaotic neutral leaning slightly towards evil
Yeah
And in a sense they don't show her blackmailing innocent people, more like the powerful
But about mmorality and Grey zone i think Rammatra is really interesting too
Hello guys, may someone please give me nitro so I can gift it to my friend?
Why are you.. asking the.. Lore channel?
doomfist or sigma
The rock is really big to be fair
Is Mauga part of Talon or a random merc
doomfist can destroy skyscrapers, but can't destroy a small wall of ice
Ice has density that can / and do wreck ships easily
What can I say except
theres a difference beetween an ice wall and an iceberg
That’s true, but we need to take into account that Mei has used it to fix infrastructure at her old lab
fair
he cant
atleast
its never shown
a KID said people SAID that he could
besides destroying skyscrapers is less impressive than u might believe
i get what ur saying but destroying a skyscraper and not being able to punch through a wall of ice just doesn't add up
canon DF Can punch through concrete without the gauntlet
i know, but tbf like tons of shit dont add up
i'm really starting to miss when season pass legendary skins had voice lines
when will they have voice lines again
it just feels so empty without them
just so mad since season 5 it's only the mythic skins with voice lines
We know that Soldier 76 takes his vitamins once a day, just after his steak dinner. But what vitamins does he take?
So then why is his hair so brittle 🤔 /joke
Where do i read the comics
@misty geode
How does Doomfist finance the army, the giant warships that Rammattra uses for his war? Because from what we know there are drones and combat robots of all kinds at the cutting edge of technology and in immense quantities
I mean...Literally almost every capital city in the world is under attack from Sector Zero armada
That must cost a lot...
Talon has investments everywhere
There's a lot of rich and powerful people in talon and connected to them
plus crime
we don't know that for sure
But still it's a litteral army to invade on a global scale
we only know that Sanjay is a Talon leader
A dude working for Vishkar have been seen in a reunion of Talon during a comics
I mean to an extent you do have to suspend your disbelief
yes
Yzah that dude
but only him
it's unknown whether the rest of Vishkar is working with Talon, or if Vishkar even knows of Sanjay's extracurriculars
I feel like all the 1% are investing into Talon, i mean...Weird
Rich people are weird
we haven't seen many rich people
I know that Doomfist is rich
Ashe's parents, but they're not working with Talon (that we know of)
Doomfist and his family
Maximilien
that's kinda it
Yeah French for the win
how are they not 1%?
Not all bourgeois are part of the 1%,
they're the extremely wealthy owners of an arms company
they're also financial advisors to other rich people
Born into a wealthy family, Ashe grew up surrounded by privilege. Her parents owned the Arbalest Arms Company, a family business which had grown in power and scope during the Omnic Crisis. While the couple had little interest in weaponry or tech, they had become highly sought-after business consultants and coaches for the global elite.
I hate rich people
That's why i always had a pleasure to focus every Ashe in every games i saw one
But anyway ! I didn't know she was that rich...
"You have to watch out for the 1%."
although that quote is probably about the 1% of bikers who are violent, not 1% rich people
Funny
Would have been the first time i saw one in a vidéo game
.
Why is Lifeweaver not using his name in the english version ?
I play in french and his name is Vitali for me
not sure
What is the Anunis ?
I heard it was an AI
They're is many part of the lore i'm not aware of
Anubis
it's the god program that took control of all omnics and caused the omnic crisis
What ?
But...It means that Omnics don't have true sentience
I thought it was because of the Iris
that was before they gained sentience
they gained sentience through Aurora's sacrifice, which allowed them to break free of Anubis's control
In this video I brought all the parts of the Overwatch Genesis Anime Mini Series into one single video. Enjoy!
