I took a long break and I’m going back but so far from what I remember

It was competitive, the students all have anxiety, the main teachers are wonderful unless it’s math, I have to learn all breeds and what diseases they are likely to have or issues because of their genetics. Dogs, a lot of dogs. You miss one class, no one will help you because everyone is fighting for a spot. Having some experience is better than none. And it’s only gotten harder despite the occupation having more job offers

If you have a passion for it, yes it’s worth it. Vet tech / nursing even assistant jobs have high openings. I just recommend you get a head and early start and a lot of referrals and connections. It’s a long journey and don’t try to cut any corners. 4 years of college plus a lot of field work. Then an internship if you skip the masters part , then residency, you can do extra things like fellowships and and practice management certifications to help carry a good check. Vet tech have lower pay then nurses but do more work because of understaffing and we don’t have things like medical specialists in sonography or the other hundreds of medical health support roles. So you will be doing most things.
