It would be nice if the mountains were isolated plateaus that rise out of the desert. Even Dune has some form of mountains
How rare would the other terrain types be? Snow would be non-existent, obviously, but what about the warmer terrain types?
How’d Sunless work on the sunniest terrain in the game? Excellent idea, love u and it
In the Aladdin Disney TV show there was a necromancer that lived in a sunless desert of black sand. He had basically extracted all life from the area. I imagine that.
Snow desert would be the Gobi desert in East Asia
PLEASE LET AOW4 BE THE FIRST 4X TO HAVE SNOW DESERT — I’m still mad at Civilization for copying Mankind like ts was a spelling test
What would be the distinction between a snow desert and regular snow province?
Unique magic materials? Enemy spawns? Interaction with adaptation traits?
That seems way too specific to be the ony place magic material spawn.
And I don't really know what enemies would be fine in snow desert but not regular snow. Caustic worms, maybe?
I got myself mixed up with Civ 6 and how luxuries spawn on certain tiles with certain climates
Idk if there’s anything really terrain locked — caustic worms is a good guess, because Mongolian Death Worm, but idk what else fantastically fits in the snow desert > regular snow problem.
In real life the difference is that snow deserts have even less life. I call it snow desert but the best way to describe it is actually EXTREMELY cold desert. A lot of snow can support large tree growth, which is what you get in the giant Russian forests and the taiga in general. Snow deserts are just bitterly difficult places to live, though they are pretty in their own way
TBF the new magic material only shows up in Sunless terrain
Not that Im arguing for snow desert.
