it mentions that it doesn not stack but there is a unlt that can apply it and an upgrade for melee units that can allow them to get it them selfs
witch i wis was a minor transformation as the effects for it are super dope
I mean precognition should only have a handful of ways to get to because it is so annoying to fight against
Precognition is going to be very effective versus charges and other big-hits, but not against numerous hits, status effects, or swarm builds.
Using AOEs to clear it will become very valuable, too. Especially the map-wide, or 2 radius, damage spells
there are ways around it, I just didn't have any fun against it in PF
Although because it is locked behind a single tome, I probably won't find it as bad as when it was with every oathbound commander
i will prefer if it just reduced damage receive
the no damage at all is frustrating
isnt that why we dont have elemental damage inmunity

I mean miss chances are already in the game, and it seems less annoying than fey stuff.
because you can at least bait it out so to speak.
Charge units will basically require support from an Oracle to be useful against other Prophecy tome builds lol

The dev post mentions the next attack not next damage, so I think spell are gonna be able to pass through the buff and not trigger it
I suppose if you have ranged units take a shot first and then send your charge unit in that'd counter it, but uh... Auto resolve?
It looks like it only works against direct attacks, so spells and AoEs will not activate it. This makes sense, but also makes one hit attacks a pain to use
and AI will have problems cause i doubt its gonna understand it
Not gonna lie, hearing that precognition is going to be in aow4 now makes me a little sad. Hopefully the true strike counter is enough to make it less annoying to play against then it was in aow planetfall. Everything else looks pretty cool tho
I could be wrong, but I think it will likely be on most mp builds for a while tho

Not only does the tome give you precognition, the oracle can give its allies true strike in an aoe. Aka the exact counter to this tome, which is an interesting choice XD

Yeah, also curious how it works with always hit abilities like longshot.
That would be interesting. If that is the case, maybe anything that is always hit should maybe just ignore precognition (like aoe attacks and the special hero skills that always hit their target)
I hadn't considered it until just now, but if precog doesn't block those attacks, then it will be a lot less annoying to play against

I think it depends if the AI recognizing that attacking them repeating attacks still does damage because then you would have them attacking with repeating attacks 1st.
its says next direct attack , so i think aoe will damage them
i dont think multiplayer gonna have lots of troubles, well shock units will
but the real problem is AI
i dont think AI will handdle it well
I mean even just defaulting to attacking with ranged first would do it I think, but I don't really know what the auto resolve does currently ordering wise
Actually yeah it kinda just counters the whole shock unit role. The point of shock is to hit first to remove defense mode so other units can pile damage on, and this forces them to hit last
(ironically darks default playstyle also counters it as they are meant to ranged attack and then shock to get the most out of cull the weak)

It does depend on how much the AI wants to take some low accuracy shots because you should be able to go for like 60% shot because the lower accuracy shot is more likely to "Waste" precog due to missing anyway.
Does anyone know if the Paladin is an optional mount unit?
