#tyrant knight problem

Hmm, have you asked him to point out 5 things he can accomplish and that no other unit does ? My empire's gold is kinda depleted rn, so ima gonna have to cut some expanditure, see ?
Comparing the Tyrant Knight to the Knight:
Same HP, same move speed
Knight has 1 less Defense but 1 more Resistance, and Resistance usually matters more at high levels.
Knight deals +4 damage (31 over 27) and has Giant Slayer but TK has a 90% chance to deal 10 morale damage.
Knight has Graceful Charge, Inspiring Killer, and Slippery.
Knight is extremely obviously the better unit, but it's also only available through promoting an Aspirant Knight and can't be built normally.
Comparing the Tyrant Knight to the Warbreed:
Warbreed has +10 HP (120 over 110)
Tyrant Knight has 1 more defense (5 over 4)
Tyrant Knight is faster (48 over 32)
Damage is the same. Warbreed's charge has "displace and replace", TK's has morale damage.
Warbreed has Power Cleave, dealing 33 damage in a 1-hex cone as a full action on a 1-turn cooldown.
Warbreed has Natural Regeneration and Siege Breaker and is a Large Target.
TK is cavalry so benefits from mount traits.
I'd say Warbreed wins although the mount trait can give the TK an edge.
Comparing the Tyrant Knight to the T3 Dark Knight:
TK has 20 more HP (110 over 90), 2 more Defense (5 over 3), and more status resistance based just on tier.
TK does 3 more damage (27 over 24) and has morale damage but the Dark Knight inflicts sundered defense.
Dark Knight has Dark Surge, dealing 18 damage in a 2-hex cone and applying Weakened.
Dark Knight also has Cull the Weak.
Frankly, the Tyrant Knight doesn't even look so hot compared to the Dark Knight, since it lacks any special ability!
Jokes aside I only ever used tyrant night with nightmare steed as at the time the moral debuff stacked
I think the Tyrant Knight should have Vicious Killer, and ideally a cooldown ability, maybe something about ordering allies into battle.
I assume morale units are a bit weaker than their tier counterparts, because that mechanic could be quite oppressive if tipped over the edge
buff i can think of give tyrant knight heavy charge, the morale reduction from charge is 1hex aoe from affected target andwill breaker
ye, idk why it doesmt have VK or at least a free stack of intim aura
and make if you have 2 different sources of intimidating aura it's changed to terrifying aura
no bc 2 intimidating auras > 1 terrifying aura. Intim aura stacks
makes sense
They've hinted that he'd be reworked in the next expansion during the live stream when they talked about the new t4 knight.
Another "problem" is that (IMO) it looks pretty lame compared to the feudal knight which now actually wears plate armor, while the tyrant knight looks like an inquisitor with an open helm and a single plate pauldron.
So I'm also hoping for a visual overhaul as well when they rework the tyrant knight.
If they rework the model.. maybe they can use the current model for a different type of unit.
doubt bc Exemplar is an Inquiditor on an eagle w/ sword n shield.
Basically, its prob intended that they have a "uniform"
Maybe, but I wouldn't say that a tyrant knight is or should essentially be an inquisitor with a lance and armored horse (though they can act like one); they aren't actually wearing the same uniform either. It would also make sense that they'd have different outfits to match their "roles", and unlike the inquisitor and exemplar the tyrant knight doesn't even have zeal by default.
I mentioned them looking like an inquisitor as an allusion to their shared lack of plate armor, which for the tyrant knight it would make sense for them to have, especially now with the feudal knight rework. The exemplar was once "eagle rider" and despite being a shield unit the model originally wasn't even wielding a shield which didn't make much sense for its role, so that was changed. Neither does a tier 4 tyrant "knight" basically being without the armor you would expect from not only a knight to have in a setting where plate armor exists, but also a knight who supposedly specializes in demoralization and intimidation as well.
It's an order unit.. so maybe it's supposed to have holy armor. If Triumph just gave the unit a glowing armor around the current model, it might give it more of that paladin feel.
Maybe it could get a biff it it's armor based on how much order affinity you have.
Or a Taunt ability that scales based on Morale levels being low
