Smote is correct, here. Smitten generally carries romantic or otherwise positive implications.

# untold timber Keep reading that page.

In summary, we'll close with a short guide to the 21st century forms of smite:

You plan on inflicting dire and retributive punishment on someone: “I will smite you.”

A man has inflicted dire and retributive punishment on you: “He smote me.”

You are in love (or you have experienced a plague of frogs): “I have been smitten.”

Correct.

#

so as you can see, 3rd form of smite used at the end

#

"smitten"

#

the same case scenario as here, where grammar requires a 3rd form after "be"

#

3rd form of smite is .... smitten

The character is saying that they need to strike down the opposing force. This is where "smote" is the appropriate word.

The dragon is not saying that she needs to romance them in preparation for the horizontal monster mash. If that were the case, "smitten" would have been more appropriate.

#

And the page you posted makes that pretty clear.

but it still follows the grammar... i have checked like a dozen different pages by now and they all agree that smote is past tense while smitten is past participle...
Hell every conjugation table i have seen so far follows the "smite, smote, smitten"

#

even the page that Random posted, still follows the same rules

#

especially at the end with their "guide"

The main thing is that smitten is generally used it much different context than smite and smote in the modern day

latent widget
#

So even tho its not gramatically correct, people use "smote" instead of "smitten" to highlight different context ?

Yes.

The page you posted made it very clear. You're selectively reading.
