#More World Corruption/Tile-change effects!

I love the way gloom looks in the world, and I wish there were more effects related to the various affinities to transform areas even further!

Lets have things like necromantic corruption, or demonic corruption afflict the landscape (I know Gloom is kinda like a cross between the two wierdly enough..) but you know give me the old undead wastelands and cracked fiery hellscapes with their own unique effects.

But we dont just have to do 'bad' corruption. We could have corruption like Celestial corruption, where areas are bathed in a celestial sheen, or a more wild 'overgrowth' corruption where the plantlife has thickened immensely in an area creating a denser forest variation.

All of these could come with their own forms of attrition for invading armies and immunities for those with either the right tomes or society traits!

Umbral Disciples has such a cool mechanic with gloom and it would be a shame to only have one form of world tile corruption in existence when there are so many opportunities for more!

Enchanted Bloom and Marching Winter + all the things the primal culture can do are just 'chefs kiss' in my opinion

Really shows off your influence as a Godir

What I really want is that necromantic corruption. That deadlands cemetery style look. Or hell like the vampiric corruption in Total War warhammer, that looks neat when ya get a lot of provinces infected with it lol

Aow 3 did it pretty well with blight and some corrupted landmarks you could change which would also get altered visibly

According to common TTRPG lore, dragons change the surroundings of their lair according to their element. Just by existing (edit : precision)

+1 Love the idea of factions changing the terrain under their realm to suit them

I mean hell even just small scape corruption changes would be nice

Like take the skaven in TW warhammer, their corruption is more subtle in the form of bones and warpstone deposits appearing in the terrain.

In addition to this, make powerful spells also have tile change effects, eg. a default option could be that any world map target spell with mana cost over 100 terraforms the target tile (or sector center if it's a sector target) to the appropriate terrain for its affinity
+1 AoE per 100 mana cost

#

kind of like showing the mana spilling over and changing the world when you really exert yourself

Turning a land into your domain is cool, and with a subtle effects there's a lot you could do. Not something as intense as the fey mists, but something like tiny little particles, recycled terrains. and a few changes here and there.

I mean just creating forests is a perfect example of what they can do

I always agreed to this, but was more-or-less neutral on it. However, in a recent playthrough, I found myself desperately needing to deforest provinces, and there's no real way to do that without investing heavily in nature affinity. You know, the affinity that would probably be vehemently against deforestation to begin with.

There really needs to be more ways to influence your provinces.
