#Allow further investment into vassals

The update that added the affinity themes for vassals added a lot to their value in the rally of lieges, but it would be nice if we could take it further and pick a vassal to favor in order to get more out of that vassal specifically. Maybe they have a particular unit you like, and are contributing 1 per rally, but you can either pay them or invest in them in some other way to increase the number to 2 or 3. This could make them a bit more like planetfall's NPC factions, where with enough investment, they become a persistent feature of your build, instead of something piecemeal that only shows up occasionally.

I was going to say "that's called integration" but I double checked and integration doesn't give you increased access to their rally units

That would also technically fit with the planetfall similarities, so I dig it.

Also I think Integration actually COSTS you units? I don't think you get the cultural units anymore in the rally once you integrate, just the special tome units.

I don't know why integration is being brought up. A vassal stops being a vassal the second you hit the integration button. It costs you all units they had on the board and they no longer contribute to the rally.

Just not their racial units I think, only special units

Yeah, because the structures/wonders that give those special units are in your borders regardless. The vassal city, itself, no longer contributes to the rally. Because it's not a vassal.

Free cities these days have special traits which provide rally units

You don't lose access to those units after integration
