Free cities should build teleporters that their liege can use. This would make long distance vassals far more useful and just generally make vassals feel more important.

True, but what I meant was that free cities would build teleporters on their own that their liege could use. Maybe instead of them just building it normally, you have to pay a cost to get them to build a teleporter.
not sure if teleporters are a thing in the other games, but I would like to specify that this post is referring to AOW4
