#Cavalry tomes!

There's not nearly enough mounted units in the game right now! 🏇

Would be interesting to see a culture dedicated to mounted units, but I think it would be better to get some more tomes that included cavalry so that everyone can have a slice. Here's a few ideas, I won't be too specific about what else is on the tomes:

  • Fast light melee cavalry in a tier 1 nature and/or chaos tome
  • Tanky medium cavalry in a tier 1 or 2 materium tome
  • Battle mage cavalry in a tier 2 or 3 astral tome
  • Monstrous melee cavalry in a tier 3 or 4 nature and/or dark tome.

Support and ranged cavalry would be sweet also. Could honestly fit that anywhere depending on what kind of a theme they have.

Slightly off topic but there needs to be some better way of showing what kind of mounts your army is using because if you have a mystic culture, the only way to preview what mounts your hero (or eventual tyrant knight) is getting is by changing the slider, then backing down to the hero screen to look at what the hero hidden in the background as long as they have a weapon that allows for it.

i agree with op, if u dotn take a mount for race u can ahve what max 4 cav of with 2 cultures and if u take a special mount a max of 4 with 5 cultures. this does include your t1 scout. it jsut feels so bad, hoped that a few tome untis could had turned mounted atleast if u took the racial mount thing.

also there is a ranged cav and its op. racial mount barbarian has t2 fury archer on mount.

I miss my tigran chariots... more cavalry could be added by cultural tomes adding more stuff to each culture...

More cavalry would be a good excuse to have more skirmishers as well

I'm sure we'll be seeing more cavalry with the DLCs. What I would really like to see is racial trait cavalry giving mounts to tome units, like transumuters, evokers, and druids of the cycle (although those aren't a racial unit)

Coming back to this to mention that I think the current cavalry units still need some work too because only the basic brown horses get proper barding. Tyrant knights look way too simple if they're on boars or wolves. Make some wolf barding, those units deserve to be badass!

i think the mount culture traits should make half the culture units mounted, at moment you only have the scouts and 1 extra that the trait give you, it should be 2 extra units that become mounted

Cavalry should be special tbh. Saturating the game with it would make it homogenous with everything else.

Being able to make a Mongol/steppe nomad-themed faction would be cool, even if you wouldn't be able to include dedicated nomadic mechanics. Centaurs as a race would be cool too

A culture that can't make cities, just "camps" as an outpost replacement, seems fun. Can only train t1 units. T2 and T3 are evolutions. Camps can annex provinces, but all serious income has to come from vassalizing other cities. Pillaging takes 1 round less time. Every unit is mounted.
