#Performance Fix time?!

Hey Bossa Studios! I’ve been loving the idea of Lost Skies but honestly I haven’t taken the time to play it yet because of how bad performance has been for people with high end PCs.

Now that most of the bugs have been fixed, I think the next steps is to really focus on improving performance so that people can actually play and experience the game itself

This is coming from someone with a 4k 240hz OLED with a 5090 GPU, so I’m kinda spoiled when it comes to having lots of frames and a good looking game. So seeing Lost Skies struggle to even hit 60 FPS sometimes in the starting world without any ships around is crazy.

I don’t mind fake frames in a PVE game, I think Frame Generation from Nvidia could help make the game feel a bit better too. I know it gets a lot of hate, but it’s really not that bad. Whatever you guys think is the right way to move, I think now is the best time to focus on it. Thanks Bossa, and can’t wait to play Lost Skies! 🙏 👍

And LS is a Physics heavy game not a Graphics heavy one so pretty much everything is run through the CPU

Biggest difference I saw was on my partners machine, she upgraded to a Ryzen 7 9800x3d CPU. Her fps are now around 170-190. So CPU is biggest priority in this title.

7950X3D here.
Lost skies only uses ~5-20% of my CPU at any given time.
None of the cores/threads are maxed out by any means.

GPU (9070XT) is chilling, but I guess people above already said GPU is not an issue.

I get 40-60 fps, never more than 70.

Also tried lowest settings and highest settings, neither change the FPS of the game.

Unity has a very stupid thing with how some things can only be done on the main thread and you have to find work arounds to get things done on the other threads

I assume there's nothing us end users can do about that?
We simply have to wait it out?

I wouldn't know. Would be something to ask @buoyant geode about

i'd have to look into it more but from what the devs said, it isn't a trivial problem to solve.

so it's netcode related issue

I really hope performance is the next big update you guys are working on because currently it's the only thing holding me back from really diving in and playing Lost Skies

I'm the same as Kannubiz. My friends tried the game and had bad performance, and all of them have high-end PCs. We also had som jankyness in multiplayer too, so I can't recommend the game to friends until the game is more stable. The game still feels like it's in early access and several updates away from a true 1.0
