Not trying to say this is not true however I have to ask what steps have you taken to test things?
Do you have the Repair tool to check if they are damaged beyond use?
Have you tried to relog? Pick them up and move them? Destroy them and rebuild?
Ask all this because my sails do work perfectly and so based on my experience would recommend the above.
Now if all that does not solve it next thing would be Verify the Game files through Steam. The update today could have had issues, happens a lot even if you are fortunate never to see it happen to you.

Well sorry to hear that because you bought into a project that can sometimes require effort on your part or you may be shelving the game a lot. Just part of what you bought. I ran into a bug myself today, with some work solved it.
