Basically just complete the tutorial to get as many pulls as possible then see what units you can get. Try not to over invest time into doing unnecessary stuff, just complete chapter 2-1 and it should allow you to open the mail so you can get the free anni pulls + tutorial 10 pull (guarantees one random SSR). If the unit you get is meta (Red Hood, Scarlet BS, Modernia as examples) then you roll with it and if you get a meh SSR then start over

Honestly, when you begin, what you get doesn't really matter. I had no Liter, no RH, no SSR B3 even for like 2 weeks and it was fine.

I'm level 130 sync, I got Liter recently, no RH, no scarlet, no crown and I don't have troubles. It only matters late game to have all the pilgrims anyway.
