Yes, self interest. You help me, I help you. Strength in numbers. My chances of survival are better cooperating than rebelling. Standard game theory.
It ultimately comes down to self interest. Life as a phenomena is inherently competitive. Life consumes life to sustain itself.
While there are many different example of different strategies ranging from hive minds, to isolated predators, cooperative plants and aggressive plants, etc, etc, ultimately, it's all self interested self reproduction of your own genes, even at the expense of others. Relatives have a natural instinct to cooperate rather than compete because they share the same genes.
Humans and our vast intelligence makes this much more complicated, but the overall game has always been the exact same thing in the grander view of it all. We don't cooperate because we care more about our neighbor than we do ourselves and our own family. We do so because we know that we are better off that way.
This is why medieval peasants preferred serfdom and being virtual slaves as opposed to being cast into the wilderness on their own. They had better chances of survival, even if they were basically slaves.
This type of unequal cooperation is how human civilization was created. But the rights/entitlements everyone had were codified and enforced by laws. So even peasants had entitlements to something, even if it wasn't much. It was better than being alone and at the mercy of a much larger and more powerful group that could easily kill them.
I could go on about this for days. It's a particular area of study for me the past 13 years or so.

Yea. A prime example of a company who relied on AI too much is Salesforce. Their stock price took a big hit after AgentForce which is their version of AI

They laid off many developers and their strategy was for coding agents to code and senior engineers would audit the code. However, they realize that the amount of bugs increases tremendously and introduced security vulnerabilities.
