Yes. This is why I kind of respect them because not only do they do it well enough for the humans in the ark, they do it well enough for us as players to also sort of overlook the situation humanity is in within this story

That's just dystopian thinking, the mission parameters clearly said until arrival at target destination, where the passengers will determine whether or not to go through phase 2. There's no way to twist that or misunderstand that statement and that's assuming the AI is anything like ChatGPT, which requires specific word manipulation to abandon it's directive or restrictions, meaning it would require derailment with intent to do so from an outside party.
