I say this with the truest of kindness, but don't talk about things you know nothing about unless you have actually lived here . Even my father who is a staunch liberal and worked for social services for more than 30 years agreed it was because of Trudeau policy (as he was literally bedridden for half an entire because of crippling agony, since he couldn't get any surgery done for 5+ months and eventually had to find a private clinic). Because of our immigration policies, if one person is accepted as a Canadian citizen their whole immediate family is accepted by extension many of which of are of advanced age or children. And that's only registered Canadian citizens. Many people come here and stay well beyond their agreed visas, and because of our incredibly lax policies are rarely ever enforced if not investigated. More people=more sick and injured.

Granted, I don't live in Canada, but we can look at other countries with similar public health services for examples of what might actually be going on here. The NHS in the UK, for example, also has notoriously long wait times. However, this can be mostly be attributed to severe underfunding and understaffing by the Tory government. This is deliberately done in order to undermine publicly funded programs, so capital can sneak in suggestions that more privatization would be so much better and faster for everyone (don't do it, just look at the US). If I recall correctly, migrants were also scapegoated as a reason for NHS problems. More people = more sick, so expand and properly fund the services that take care of them. I'm not denying the pain your father went through, but don't blame migrants, blame the government for failing to take care of everyone properly.
