I absolutely love the little animation flair and star particles you get when you jump from poles with the correct timing! It adds EVEN MORE personality to The Prince's animations and gives you a nice bit of dopamine from hitting that good timing, but I think this little visual could be a great way to add in a gameplay mechanic attached to it! I think personally it would be a great way to implement a faster running speed for those who think the current speed is too slow. I'm not the best at "balancing" or "game design" but it feels like a great way to reward good movement execution and it'd just be a great way to keep the momentum going between running and parkour! Here's a rough idea of the system that I came up with but it could certainly be adapted to pretty much anything! It doesn't even need to be movement speed, it could be like a little extra gold or something else, I'd love to hear any other ideas:

Perfect Parkour Stacks:

  • Upon correctly timing your jumps between parkour objects, indicated by the starry particles and animation flair, a symbol of a parrot would appear to the right of the health bar with an x1 directly next to it. Each subsequent perfect timing would increment the number up to a maximum of x5. Upon touching the ground you would gain a bonus 5% movement speed for each stack up to a bonus 25% movement speed increase!
  • This effect would last for 15 seconds and would add some kind of particle effect or symbol to show you are under the effect of a movement speed boost
  • If you do not land a perfectly timed jump your combo meter will be broken
  • Wall running and wall climbing will not break your combo
  • You will maintain your current move speed bonus if you interact with parkour objects again while still under the effect however its timer will not pause and your move speed bonus will be reset if you begin another combo.
  • I chose a parrot because it represents escape from danger in Persian rug art and speed sort of ties into escape!

What is this perfect timing thing? I've never noticed it, I've probably never even done it

When you press the jump button as soon as you touch either type of pole you get those little star sparkle particle effects and a different animation than if you wait a sec
