Whenever i double tap left menu button to get back into Virtual Desktop - my VUT's reset their location.
System:
Win11
5800X3D + 4080 + 32GB Ram
Quest 3 + Virtual Desktop (VirtualXR Mode)
Additional SteamVR Tools:

I feels like that's more of a Quest issue resetting their play space tbh
The only solution I know is to just don't let headset goes into sleep or Double press anything
Would be cool if they could somehow overcome it but I feels like that's probably not possible' at least not only by the vive team themselves

I keep on going back to menu on VirtualDesktop never had it reset my position on me once, you might have stage centering enabled ?

Stage centering is probably the issue yeah, I had the same problem and disabling that fixed it (and some other stuff regarding VUTs)

Just tried enabling it and yes that's definatelly your issue; disable it and enjoy your VUTs ^^ ( setting is in streaming menu; center to playspace (stage tracking))

if i turn it off i have to redo the 8 thingy every time i boot up vr. and i can no longer reset quest view by holding right menu button. i rather keep stage tracking on then.

Ahh; that's up to preference, I tend to go back to desktop much more than calibrate, I usually do it once and we're good for the whole 6.5 hours those bad boys give me
Your next bet to not have to recalibrate each time is using OVR Toolkit to be able to interact with your desktop smoothly then
