Is my vive pro eye fake?

I recently bought the Vive Pro Eye off of new egg because I wanted to have face tracking and eye tracking technology while also having access to light house tracking. I have had trouble getting the eye tracking to work and no matter what I try I cant get it to work. My face tracking module works but not my eye tracking module. I took a second to look at what it looks like and what others got online and I think mine might be a fake vive pro eye. Can someone confirm my suspicions?

100% not a Pro Eye.
That's either a Vive Pro 1 with business insurance (which also had blue rings on the cameras but did not have eyetracking), or someone put in a lot of effort and swapped out the eyerings and put them on a regular VP1, and then returned it to Newegg

IR-rings on the lenses, they can beturned on or off, lenses can be fresnel, or if you buy it used from someone who had it for a while, they can be aspheric too sometimes

Getting your hands on a new Vive Pro Eye will be really hard to borderline impossble.

I have been scouting the used market over here for a long time (been modding a few headsets for friends), and out of all the headsets I found, only a single one was new unboxed.

Using the facial tracker in wireless is supported but really quirky and also not supported by HTC, just a heads up.
Link-box kits and cables can still be had new or for cheap used though

The way ebay bids work is that it will only count your bid as to whatever is needed to outbid the #2 bidder

But yeah, Pro eye's are 99% used market only. Not a bad thing fundamentally, it's a very repairable/serviceable headset in my opinion.

You want to make sure you are actually looking at a Pro Eye (and not a business VP1), and if you want to use the default fresnel lenses, you'll want as few scratches as possible on there

Not a fan of the fresnels (I threw mine away) but changing them is effort still.

I just dont want scratched lense, because those one looks like they have massive lens scratches

Focus 3 and Focus Vision both use the same lens stack that the Vive Pro 2 uses iirc.

Vive Pro 2 does not have the lens mod as a option, so neither do the Focus's. mostly because the Vive Pro Eye can use custom lens distortion profiles (and the only tool needed to flash a new one is SteamVR)

The type of lens mod I did on my headset (GearVR lens mod, you take the lenses from a 10$ Samsung phone vr headset lol) only works on the OG Vive, Vive Pro 1 and Vive Pro Eye, with increased difficulty of modding on the Eye model.

Well I hit return and Newegg said they were gonna issue a refund and gave me the shipping label for free to return it to them. If thats also the case I can contact affirm and tell them whats going on since this has happened before when I tried to get a quest pro

Again, I think there is a good chance someone ordered it, then put a VP1 business in there and then returned it to them.

Then they didn't spot the difference (which one can't blame them for, they look visually very alike and the weight difference is very small) and got his money returned

Wouldn't even outright blame the retailer for this, they propably didn't know better
