#How to check for Lens Damage or scratch

To clean get a good quality microfiber cloth, you can get lens inserts for any headset out there currently and almost everyone would recommend you going that route.
I was using glasses for a while with my OG vive and I don't think i've seen any new scratches come from regular use, but if you want to preserve your lenses get the special inserts.
You cannot replace the lenses unless you specifically have an adapter and lens from another device like the "samsung gear vr" mod for vive/vive pro
a little fix waaay alot of money, got it
I mean lens inserts from vroptician is about 60-80
If you got a cheap headset I'd say don't bother buf if you got a quest 3/valve index or anything you really don't want to lose it should be a well worth investment
Are you looking for VR prescription lenses for your oculus quest 2 or other VR device. Dr. EyeGuy reviews 4 VR lens options and gives the best buying guide to replace your glasses while playing virtual reality.

Today I will be conducting a torture test on the Oculus Quest 2 and the Elite Battery Headstrap. I'm going to do my best to replicate real life scenarios to see just how robust this headset is. Drop tests, lens scratch tests, controller tests, and of course.. putting it into a dryer. So, does the Quest 2 survive?

Polywatch can help in some scenarios to repair the scratches, from what i've heard it works but can vary depending on how deep the gauges are
that would be all of what I know regarding this @unreal trail
its 110 USD for me that is considered alot of money
I got vive OG for 300 USD but I can't play without glasses, and with glasses is forcing me to put my VR lens furthest way, reducing my FOV. even then it still ruins the experience a bit
Here at this point a full set costs 150-180 euros, yeah it sucks since I've had to do the same for about 2 years
@unreal trail Also I forgot to answer the actual question, if you want to check for scratches get an angled light from your phone and move the headset around a bit, you should be able to see some marks
I see one or two lines and alot of dots (I think that's dust)
but I can't tell if I can see the scratches when wearing it or not cause I wear my glasses in it, and in next 10 mins my glasses lens starts to fog up and get dirty
if you want you can try to take a picture of it, i'll show you an example in a sec
I don't htink me sending a pic here will work since the camera quality isn't great for close up
you can do pictures like this
like a bit angled with light from the top or the sides
for example the left eye has a few very minor scratches, these will be basically unnoticable
okay I'll try to send you that.
@celest harness left len is full of small scratches
that looks not bad at all, mine with lens mod is 100 times worse but still usable
so i'd say you're fully fine to keep doing what you were doing
I can't. if I do I'll make significant damage. Remember I'm playing WITH my glasses inside, and my glasses are too big
so I'm planning to buy prescription lens insert. which sadly cost 110 USD here
I have played with my glasses in the headset for nearly 2 years
and the amount of damage was negligible
and the gearvr mod pushes the lens out even closer to the glasses
well I'm still going latter anyway. cause my FOV is too low to enjoy it and I can't bring the lens closer to me. and also my glasses fogs up and gets dirty real quick
personally it would be a better investment to upgrade to a vive pro with that price + some extra
oh that cost like 800 USD here
what region are you from? south america?
Nope. Middle-east
what about a quest 2? still very expensive I assume?
500 USD and I still need to buy glasses mode for it so another 100 USD
yeah that's still a lot, up to you what you do but I get your pain
two reason why that is
- VR is not in demand
- Online retailers are very expensive here because there's small demand in buying anything via online in general
That does make sense, here most of VR was expensive because of low demand
btw. how safe is it for me to use Polywatch? (I think that's what they call it?)
when following the steps probably completely fine
should be an FAQ or a reddit page on it
But that'll get rid of scratches?
