#Wifi signal constantly poor

Ethernet, CAT6 all around
Yeah I got it for this headset specifically lolol
How many WiFi are you running on this U7-Pro?
SSIDs or clients?
Currently 2 SSIDs
one for 2.4/5ghz one for 6ghz
2.4 and 6ghz set to low transmit power
5ghz set to high transmit power
as far as clients 6 atm, 2 are on 5ghz, the rest only support 2.4, none on 6ghz
Pausing the 6ghz SSID since I dont quite need it given the tracker incompatability
I'm sorry Im not sure I understand, I am unfamiliar with an exclusive streaming configuration, would you be able to elaborate?
I mean, try to disable the 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz/6Ghz(depends on which one do you use for streaming).
AH ok, wasnt sure if you were referring to a diff setting
sounds good checking
giving it a go
5ghz only, rebooted the AP as well
unfortunately still poor
What’s your PC spec and graphics setting
oh shoot.. I hope this isnt doing what I think its doing, one sec that might be it
could it be grabbing the wrong gpu?
I have that secondary because my index was taking up a slot on the 3090 and I wanted a 4th monitor
Completely forgot about its existence and how it would play with this setup perhaps
That could be one possibility.
though when I reconnect it, it looks like it does use the 3090 at least right this moment and hey it went to yellow and green status!
keeps bouncing between acceptable and good, I can run through more usage tomorrow (this afternoon) and see if that is the root cause perhaps?
Hmm, the poor isn’t always the wireless status, but rather the overall streaming quality, which includes the graphics.
AH I assumed it to be networking only.
With this headset in play my goal was to remove the second gpu and go full wireless. I dont mind doing that over the weekend
Alright, may meed you to do some trial and error here to find good settings of your environment.
Sounds good, I continue to tinker then thank you for your help with this!
No problem, keep me posted.
Will do!
Removed the weak gpu, kept the 3090, set the unifi u7 back to 5ghz only back to poor quality again
also 1 less monitor right now since I am likely to be tinkering
graphics in streaming app also lowered to balanced, no connection quality change
checked vive business streaming for updates, none
connecting headset, reinstalling vive business streaming
Attempting first party power
rebooting headset
--- I see a message in the headset about an update to vive business streaming app, I've seen this a few times
Headset connected, streaming quality is great
Unsure what step corrected it, so.... going backwards slowly
reconnected using my dongle, but still 1st party battery
ok so my dongle should be ok
switching to 3rd party battery
using htc's battery bank that came with cosmos wireles kit, says lucent trans on the front
back to bad
my issue is likely power delivery then
wait no, back to green?
...ok?
then my issue was the onboard business streaming app?
or the reboot perhaps
hmmm
a few other things I did during this was switch the 5ghz AP power to high, and rebooted that AP
setting AP back to medium then?
rebooting ap
it could very well stil be a power delivery issue
purchased 2 of these, let's see if they work
Correction, that one is too chonky, gonna go for two of these instead
After some time, reconnected using 1st party battery and dongle again
Back to red?
took a little longer, but right as I rebooted the headset it got to green again
this likely concludes my troubleshooting for tonight
Thread of steps taken tonight starts here:
#1205048164239937626 message
battery fully charged trying again
starting with red
official battery
official battery, no dongle as well
no splitter** ultimate tracker dongle IS plugged in
restart business streaming
Finally got to try the new setup, man I lost tracking much more on my ultimate trackers on xrelite than I did on PCVR
overall I am dominantly having an issue with connection quality that Im tracking in the thread below
The resolution seemed quite fine, but as I looked around a trail of blackscreen was very visible. Kind of like what I used to see in old oculus quest recording of POV. I hope that can go away with the better connections
My highest suspect atm is power draw with face tracker and ultimate trackers. I even got errors about insufficient power draw with the official battery without any usbc splitter which I found odd.
Nevertheless, got some 65W batteries being overnighted, I'm hoping they can make a difference
Dropping a comment simply because I am interested since I seem to have a related issue
You mught need to make your own thread for that issue, this is about wifi signal conenctions with the streaming app
my experience with XRE and VUT was much better today running off some 65W batteries.
My connection issues kind of persisted when it came to the quality of the connection. But I saw a range of performance
It kept bouncing from low, to medium and sometimes green
But plenty of time it was low quality unfortunately
I feel for you Dalek and anyone else going through these issues with Vive's streaming solution. I myself am still going through issues despite all the trouble shooting. It's literally a 50/50 if I get a semi playable experience or just unplayable with constant stuttering with vive logo buffering all the time.
I really wonder how Vive's streaming hub processes wifi compared to SteamLink and VD. Maybe the XR Elite isn't that good when it comes to holding a wireless connection
Regarding streaming. Try manually setting your video quality, bit rate, and disabling the variable (Important!). It doesn't make the red go away but it makes the gameplay smooth and sharp. Graphics are set to max, and I gave it 100Mbps. I also play in the same room as the router if that helps. Bright red but no issues.
I wish I knew what it was measuring against.
Also enabled TCP mode.
Basically I think the dynamic bitrate is overzealous and assumes every little network hiccup is going to result in framedrops and slowdowns, ironically causing those very framedrops and slowdowns.
ive done these except for tcp mode, lemme give that a try, I happen to be testing right now and it was indeed on red lol
It's weird, I will say that for sure. LOL
Also, I do not have a 6Ghz router, but I'm not sure how that factors in.
Good to know if I ever get any.
