Hi, i want to use the new ultimate tracker on a robotic project.

Iam currently using SteamVR and the python wrapper pyopenvr. I want to eliminate the base stations from the project.

I was wondering if I could use the new compact tracker without changing a lot in my program.

You get tracking data from SteamVR right?

Yes, I use the normal htc vive controller, I have steamvr installed on Linux and I use pyopenvr in my python script to get the tracking data. But I thought it would be much better if the new tracker works the same way.

Is it going to be possible with beta? Or is it already possible? I really need it asap for my university.

The initial beta will still require a SteamVR compatible headset to get it working.

The name self tracking tracker mislead me into thinking it's a standalone device.
