I Am a Kitten
By: "B"
I am a kitten,
meow meow.
I was born on the street, my mother white and orange,
I followed her everywhere,
on the granite floor where big things walked
and roared with massive purrs.
I am a kitten,
Meow... Meow!
I don’t know where my mother went.
I wandered through every street,
no longer afraid of the roars of those big black things.
I am petted and satisfied with the kindness.
Garbage is my food,
but I am glad the food is still here.
I am a cat,
meow.
Many big cats came around me and gave me food,
they petted my head, some I scratched,
sometimes I was caught in nets.
Meow, they say I have nine lives,
but it feels like I have lived eight.
I am a cat,
meow meow,
born into a world of big purrs
and big cats.
