I woke up today
I breathed today
I soaked in the moment today
I lived today
Today I listened to the birds chirp
Today I let my skin break to pieces
Today I let my mind speaks its thoughts
Today I let my feet move under me
After every life I've lived
After every life I tried to leave
I soaked in the moment today
I let my mind take the key to my cage
I let the birds free
Breathe slow
Look slow
Walk slow
Feel slow
Be slow
Take your time
The clock ticks
With each step you take
With each breath you take
With each word I type
Tick
Tick
The poem goes
It Ticks as I keep writing
Every word I speak
Every living creature effected by the ticking of the clock
Tick
Not slow
Not fast
Not normal
It has no definition
It wrinkles my skin
Brittles my bones
It takes my mind
using the eraser to erase the very memories that made me
I hear the clock tick
But I do not wish to focus on it
I wish to listen to the breeze
To sit on a bench
Have a conversation go on for a little to long
Say a goodbye that leads to another conversation
Party hard
Live my life has if the clock had no effect on it
Maybe one day
When I have children
and they have children
Maybe then the clock will stop ticking for me
