Purchased foothold upon inherited
Knowledge be none, my esoteric mind.
Absence, seems answers are inherent in.
A mist falls ever-long, to force me blind.

Subsequently creation obligate
Am I, mock-divine providence bepeaced.
And answers I at last deobfuscate
As to why inside this matter I'm leased.

Four facets stand upon a great darkness,
A nothing that is everything's base,
A living being that remains carcass.
The beings dance forever to form his face.

Upon his brow rests the being of stone.
Below his nose spins the wind of thought.
The water of soul splits his eyes alone.
The fire of spirit is forehead caught.

All matter corporeal, the stones task.
Wind ensures singularity of mind.
Water gifts the body with purpose vast.
The fire, with a net, all matter binds.

Stone is an epithet, I give to hold view,
Shaping a concept, owner of all forms.
Lord of God's brow, for it is the bridge true.
To pass locked our spirit among our souls.

Passing far above our soul, stone-tethered
Relentlessly by spirit, there flies thought
In spirit's net, gliding pollen feathered,
It spreads all emotions from knot to knot.

Unfinished.

It's not in my usual style but it's something.

[Title Pending]

Isn't it time we count the cost
of dreams that never saw the light?
Isn't it time we name the lost
who fade before they start the fight?
Before their hearts are torn and tossed,
before their morning fails to rise
we ask: what's the cost?
What's the cost?

Isn't it time we hear their names
etched in promises too thin to hold?
Isn't it time we call to flames
the youth once fearless, bright, and bold?
But fire turned to ash, each dream untold
a whisper in a world grown cold
we ask: what's the cost?
What's the cost?

They told them "rise and reach the sky,"
then gave them roads of gilded lies.
Yet every star that passed them by
marked one more future's slow demise.
The songs unwritten, voices cried
for chances lost, for hope denied
we ask: what's the cost?
What's the cost?

Isn't it time we count the grief
not as a number, but as bone?
For youth cut short, for stolen belief,
for hearts that learned to stand alone.
While ministers of promise groan,
the wasted sing in muted tone:
we ask: what's the cost?
What's the cost?

And when the tally stares us down
through vacant eyes and empty chairs,
we'll know the weight of every crown
we gave to ignorance and cares.
The hollow trophies future bears
unlived, unheard, untouched by prayers
and in that silence lies the cost,
the cost of youth forever lost.

Reading it, to me it's straight man's thoughts, musing. I really liked it. It has a flow that speaks.

#

I don't mean straight in preference I should add

#

To the point might make that sound better.
