The knight who defends an empty throne

The chamber echos with a rhythmic clang.
As a restless guard patrols the halls
The silence seemed to bounce off the walls.

All of a sudden there's a creak at the door.
A stranger silent, strolls across the floor
A challenger standing before the throne
The room buzzes as the stranger is weighed up.
The guard was silent, judging everything until...

The whir of blades is no more
And the stranger lies across the floor
A dripping sound escapes the grip of silence.
The knights arm a waterfall of crimson
The stranger a threat no more

The soldier continues past the door
The soldier a guard once more
Protecting the remains of before
This was always his home, now all he is, is alone
A knight defending an empty throne

This is so vivid! I keep picturing the empty throne and the dripping crimson… did you imagine this as part of a bigger story, or just a single moment?

I feel like "The stranger a threat no more" is a uneeded line but thats the only critisism I have because its a decent poem :)
