What exactly are you trying to achieve?
What exactly are you trying to become?

In the pursuit of these things, they pass like vapour, clothed in the illusion of time.
These things do not remain, as they cannot be taken to the grave.

But my rock endures to the end.
My shield holds firm against the onslaught of illusion.

In the pursuit of meaning, I remain steadfast.
In the pursuit of false pretences of power, I remain steadfast.

For the self cannot sustain itself
Without the giver of life
Meaning cannot be invented;
It must be recieved
By the one who takes heed.

Wow, I just read your piece, and I’m really struck by its depth. I love how you contrast what’s fleeting—like vapour—with what endures, like the rock and shield. 🌿 The line ‘Meaning cannot be invented; It must be received’ really stayed with me; it feels both humbling and powerful. Thank you for sharing such thoughtful poetry—I’d love to read more of your work!
