Your lies

Everything you told me was a lie
Moment after moment slowly passing by
And I believed your words
Not hearing the sound of mockingbirds

You claimed to live alone
Pleasing no one but your own
You thought you would be safe
Taking those secrets into your grave

But I found out instead
Late at night while lying in bed
A single picture was all it took
Information flooding like an open book

My mind refused to see what’s there
Doubt crept in from everywhere.
With your wife and children smiling at me
There wasn’t a way back to normalcy

As you admitted to deception
I only saw my own reflection
My tears rolled like a waterfall
Already knowing I lost it all

This is very sad

But very true

I really like the mockingbird line

It does so much without having to actually say it

The lack of reliability is extremely emphasized

And you can feel the emotional betrayal really bleed through
