just a
trim,
just an
inch,
or two
but not
three.

just to
lose
the dead
ends,
let me
breathe
more eas
ily.

but the
blades
want more
bite,
and the
hair
dresser
knows
well, says
it is
for the
best
you'll smile
when it
–each strand
looks healthier.

and when it's all over i frown at the mirror,
gaze at the locks around my feet,
i tear up at the sight; scattered parts of me,

& with the weight on my shoulders now lighter
i'm forced to keep my chin up.

This is so relatable. I love the structure- it makes the whole hairdresser scene feel like it's in the blur of the moment- hesitant and panicked- but then the realization hits so much harder and feels like such clear and vivid loss. This is beautiful!

You know, this is so outside of my wheelhouse. It is just delightful. Like a cool breeze, thanks.

I have a idea for a poem, like the burden of father how he carries hidden pain

I like your style of writing

I really like the formating for the pauses, as if breathless in paralysis of the deeds and dead reassurance in this need for a haircut.

It’s pretty cool.

I was just thinking it would be cool to do a perspective regression or progression based on different important shaves

Like first shave
First barber
First time you catch a significant other enjoying you shave

Blend some of that into your format and I think you’ve got a real spine tingler

What is this emptiness,
What is this pain,
Where did you scatter,
That, Which you had gained.....
