Two rabbits play in a forest clearing,
One with black fur, the other brown and white,
Both equally worn but persevering.
Scars mar their skin, but their eyes remain bright,
With marks around their nose, their throat, their mouth.
An emptiness inside that hungered so,
A life that so long fought the journey south
But by their side they help the other grow,
And when together, their past forgotten,
They play all day among the trees and moss.
And so strong it was their love begotten
They no longer think of all they have lost.
